This is the new thread for those fasters who forgo all food on a fasting day - consuming only liquid between the preceding day's evening meal, and the following day's breakfast.

Last week's thread is here:

http://www.52fastdiet.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4488

This variation of 5:2 was inspired by Wildmissus, on this thread, begun in April:

There's no doubt that a substantial number of posters are happier without any food on a fast day . The reason for this, IMO, can be found here:

Thanks b&w for the new thread - much appreciated  Well, pub lunch this afternoon - so my last meal for this fast was 2.30pm - there's going to be a long haul through to Tuesday morning - I'll just have to man up to it  Last week was really odd - did 2 full liquid fasts and one 500 cal fast - and somehow managed to put on .5lb on my weekly weigh-in. Goodness knows how that worked out. So I'm well up for fasting this week - and a better result at the end of it. Good luck to everyone - will be back during the course of tomorrow to see how we're all doing :clover:
A usual I shall be riding side saddle in a supporting role, so, good luck everyone, see you all in the morning,

Ballerina x
I'm riding side saddle too, well at least until Thursday when I'll be doing my weekly 36er. Good luck tomorrow's fasters. I'll be popping in with support.

By the way, I'm going to attempt my first ever 100% water only fast on Thursday. Anyone with me?

Thanks Breadadwine for starting the thread.
I'm gearing up now. Slight change this week, as I'm working from home tomorrow, usually do my fasting in the office. Should be OK though, as I'm pretty comfortable with liquid fasting now, so will be able to cope with cooking boys tea, etc etc.

Its been a lovely weekend, 2 meals out, lots of lovely real ale and red wine, and homemade cake. And all manner of non-food related fun too !

Good luck everyone tomorrow.
I'll be joining you again this week too.

Just had lamb chops for dinner and looking forward to my fast now! I'm really noticing a difference in the amount I can eat now before feeling stuffed, and had to leave half of my dinner. That's definitely something that never happened pre 5:2. Some old habits are still here though as I managed to find room for 2 biscuits afterwards

This week, i'm planning on doing liquid fasts on Monday and Wednesday, and a 500cal fast on Friday (eaten all at evening meal).
Did the same last week and it worked out well for me, so will stick with that for now.

Looking forward to joining everyone else for the journey.
I'm in although my week starts on Saturday. My second liquid fast will be tomorrow. I have not eaten today since 5pm and plan to eat again on Tuesday morning. Good luck to everyone else fasting :)
I'm liquid fasting tomorrow too. Second one so far, last Thursday went well. I'm planning to liquid fast Monday and Wednesday this week. I'll also be skipping breakfast a couple of days as I find this compensates for drinking wine in the evenings! Good luck everyone!
I'm in too. Had a nice chicken casserole for dinner followed by jam roly poly and custard!! I like fasting on a Monday. New week and all that! Good luck everyone.
Started my 36 hr liquid fast at 8 pm today, looking forward to a food free day tomorrow :)
Thanks b&w for starting the new weekly thread. I was actually reading your appetite switch thread again earlier - it is a very interesting thread and I definitely think there's something in the hypothesis that we have a switch which is activated by solid food. I intend to continue water fasting because it suits me, but it does seem that liquid (juice, fruit, soup etc) has as good an effect on weight loss and appetite control and many find it more sustainable.
I'm in tomorrow, which is also weigh in day for me, but as a compulsive scale hopper I already have a good idea I've put on this week despite two 36hr fasts, not worried though as I lost a fair bit the last few weeks and I know even if the news is bad in the morning I will start scaling down again next week as this happened on 500 cal 5:2 as well. Definitely have had the munchies this week and wonder if it's the same reaction to 5:2 I already went through or maybe just a hungry week! Oh well, I'll find out the damage in the morning and get to getting back in the routine of fasting on my regular days which I'm sure will help too! Happy fasting all :0)
Looking forward to Monday water fast. Last week did a 2 water only fast and 1 500 cal fast and stayed the same on Saturday weigh in, guess it's the body adjusting. However had a few people noticing my weight loss this weekend so I am happy with that.
Malteserr, you might need to adjust your weigh in day. Some people seem to find their weight loss doesn't register until a day or two after a fast. Sounds like you did 4:3 with a big calorie deficit overall so you would have to have seriously over eaten on the other days not to see a loss.

I'm definitely focussing less on weekly weigh ins now. My new mantra is 'weigh weekly, review monthly' - it's a better way to properly assess changes.

And mariposa, maybe give the scales a miss and just weigh in next week instead?!
I am in! Green juice and water to see me through to a soup supper. I am looking forward to this after the fatty weekend I've had. It will be good to give my system a rest.
