This is the new thread for those fasters who forgo all food on a fasting day - consuming only liquid between the preceding day's evening meal, and the following day's breakfast.

Last week's thread is here:

http://www.52fastdiet.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=5137

This variation of 5:2 was inspired by Wildmissus, on this thread, begun in April:

There's no doubt that a substantial number of posters are happier without any food on a fast day . The reason for this, IMO, can be found here:

I'm fasting today too. Love Monday fasts. Can't believe I just typed that, but it's true!

I had a very early dinner (I suppose it was more a late lunch) a platter of meat, nuts, cheeses, fruits and salads at about 3pm yesterday, and it's already midday and I've had virtually no hunger. I skated yesterday for an hour and a half after eating, and did HIT this morning, so was expecting to battle hunger today, but it just hasn't happened. Which is weird, because last week I was so hungry every day I wasn't fasting, I thought it was the cold making me hungry. Maybe it's eating that makes me hungry?
I'm here as well, my third liquids-only Monday fast. Like you KataMac I've come to love the Monday fasts, it feels so good to forgo food after the weekend, like resetting the system for the week.
I am in and this is my 4th liquids only. I am seeing results
All the best fellow lfers
Overate on the weekend. Once again undid all my hard work. I'm thinking of trying to make 48 hours on a liquid fast to make up for it. Wish I could sort out my weekend eating habits!
So do you have zero cals for 36 hours?
Been awake since 5.30am, thanks baby! Have made it through fast day and holding out until 8am for breakie to complete my 36hrs. Looking forward to family BBQ with cake baked yesterday (torturous) and happy to have one fast under my belt this week already! Good luck bank holiday fasters!
I'm in today. It's the second one of my week. This week I intend to ADF. I'm going to the UK on the 3rd of June and would like a boost before I get there.

Good luck to all those fasting especially to people dealing with the smell of bank holiday BBQs :)
GMH - some of us are only having water/tea, but think some are having soups. All pretty close to no calories. Most people doing the 36 hours on liquid only had been having just 1 small dinner at the 24 hour mark of the fast already. Think it's been gradual for most of us too. I know for me, I find that eating that small dinner actually triggered my hunger. And I was eating only dinner because I'd found in my first week or two of 5:2 that eating during the day also triggered my hunger so I was better off just going through to dinner. Obviously this is very different for different people, and there are a lot of other people doing 5:2 who eat 2-3 small meals over their 36 hours, and find this suits them best.
I find I'm best sticking to liquids only till my evening meal. I overate at the w/e too and have put on a few pounds (although I have new digital scales which seem to be weighing me heavier, annoyingly). Peppermint tea only till tonight - hope I can do it!
I'm in today as well. It's just a normal day up here today - kids are at school and I'm at work despite it being a bank holiday. Me and the girls had a great day on Saturday as it was the sailing club open day at the harbour. Yesterday however my husband seemed to spent the whole day arguing with me which ended up with me mindlessly overeating on bad carbs so definitely looking forward to a liquid fast today.
Was planning to 36 hr fast today, but work really busy and found I just had to eat. Usually I can tough it out but all my tough seemed to be used up on work today. Will try again for tomorrow after small dinner tonight.

Good luck to everyone for today
I survived watching my family make and eat nachos without caving. Even though not really hungry, that is a hard meal to smell and not eat.
Well done. :starving: Im constantly impressed by those who can cook for families and still fast, not even having a little taste!! I only have hubby to cook for and he is very supportive so he makes it easy for me, and I usually make extra, especially a 36er so that its all good to go
GMH
In response to your question I have fluids with minimal calories, teas, herbal teas, lemon and hot water and stock cube. By early afternoon if a bit fuzzy have a coffee with some soy. At night I have a broth home made strained and camomile for bedtime. I add all the calories and it comes in around 300. This still brings me in under my 500. I don't eat only drink. So that is my version and my weight stall has stopped. It feels ok and I can still function
