....and the books how do I bring myself to part with them? But I will!

I find books particularly hard to part with, particularly cookbooks, though with daughter getting her own place recently, I managed to offload some to her but they "stay in the family" so that's good so i can peruse them there. I think i have about 400 cookbooks. Stopped buying the foodie mags bar one.. SBS Feast. its just tooooooo good.
Have put some books in the Gite, also still available but not cluttering my home.
Today I am not fasting for various reasons, two done this week but am going to gather all my diet books and bin them them! Ww, SW, Gi, Cooking without etc etc. the only regime I will follow now is 5:2 and I will not recommend any other way so do not feel comfortable passing them on. The WW are out of date since the latest update.
@Bobshouse I recently came across my WW paraphernalia and was quite saddened by reading it all. I remember going crazy and couldn't understand why I found it so difficult to control my weight and my eating and it's all there in black and white. What a waste of time and money and such rubbish. IF is for me for life, it works so well, I have been such a success story, along with others on here, that I cannot imagine living any other way. Why would I? You did the right thing, in my opinion, ditching it all, well done.

I have decluttered much of the main spare room, which was son's. It involved a big tip trip!
Next, I need to tackle the space under the bed, which contains both son's and DIL's uni stuff. I'm sure they don't want it, some 10 years on!
Another Scarf tonight into the bag which is about full and heading off to a new home. Also keep chipping away at office papers now as well. I have also been chucking recipes if not 5:2 or up to the minute eg low carb wheat free plant based mostly .... well it's gone. Very liberating. Though I do share Julianna's dilemma as It is hard to part with cookbooks. I have just moved them into a bookcase.

Need time to keep at bigger culling exercises but any cull is good
Oh....... I just typed a long post about how well you are doing, jr, penny, bob, gillymary and izzy, congratulating each one of you individually with regard to books, especially diet ones and dumping old recipes. I have lots of clippings in files, going to get rid of them, all the recipes I use are either online or shared by everyone here (same thing really) but it disappeared into the ether. I can't type if all again, so....... Well done all, keep it up, we are all inspiring each other. I'm the same Izzy, sentimental old soppy but I am giving anything I have that belonged to my late step mum to the jumble sale because she was such a practical, non sentimental person that she would be pleased to see it being used and enjoyed by someone else instead of being shut away in the dark, taking up precious space. Do you think you could think along those lines and maybe give a few things away to a good cause? I know it's hard and I do feel for you but I am deploying steely determination here!

Not a lot done here this morning as I have been out but I do have another carload ready for the jumble sale. It's all good
@Izzy perhaps you could donate the bibles to a local church, I'm sure they'd be grateful?

@Wendy Darling I saw you were at IKEA ..
More clutter? :dazed:
Lol @silverdarling I was thinking exactly the same as we went round! Everything was absolutely necessary though. Amongst other things, I bought new cushion pads and have thrown the old squashed ones out
Oh, I decluttered clothes and books, to make way for more.
Most imortantly I chucked out my negative attitude.
Life is very happy now!
OH has been away for a couple of weeks, which has given me some spare time and head space for clearing up. So I've taken a couple more bags of clothes to the Sally Army recycling. I tackled the nightware drawer, got rid of the really saggy stuff, migrated some tops that are too lacy to be nightware, and treated myself to some (smaller) jim jam bottoms from Primark.

I've done my bedside table today - thanks for the reminder, from someone earlier in the thread. I found High and Mighty shirt boxes are perfect size for storing newspapers, so I've saved the ones we are in, and put the box under the bed. I went through my "precious pile" and found the Aldi Christmas catalog - not sure how that got in there !
@Wendy Darling and @Silverdarling IKEA ... I went just last week to their mega store in Tempe Sydney and I was impressed how they can help you store and show your stuff you love and have collected.

Has made me look differently at how I store stuff meanwhile the decluttering is not negotiable but find I need time for it though I like @Sallyo ideas provided about a quick 20 minute session at least
I saw lots of those lovely storage stackable boxes yesterday in Wilkinsons, which I mentioned up thread I think. Very cheap too. I have decided that, since I have spent today on the back patio loafing in the sun (it s gorn in now :frown: ) I will spend Wednesday decluttering - yes you heard it here, feel free to remind me
Oh, I still have some of my mum's things and I will never part with them, it would be like getting rid of her and I'd rather die myself than do that, ooh, all weepy now  :frown:
