I loved my dearly departed mum to bits too. I have the silver sugar basin in my kitchen from my childhood which reminds me everyday even though I don't use it it is there, a image of the Madonna my brother and I gave to mum one Mother's Day is close by and I have a lovely photo as well above my recipe books. But I know she made me and is imprinted in my cell memory. There would be the odd other thing and photos. I wore a nightie of hers after she died until it fell to bits and then I turned it into rags of which I have only 1 left. It is 27 years since she left and she is never far from my thoughts. Sending you hugs ladies   and I now am sad  but grateful I had such a lovely mum
This tent has inspired me to get decluttering - thank you. Lord knows the house needs it. I am fasting today so once I've washed my hair, done the ironing and got the kids bags ready for school, I will make a start. Found my trash picker-upper last night so gonna give the front and back gardens a well needed clear. Its a start!
I have today hauled the shorts out of storage and tried them all on. Only 2 pairs now fit me. So they have gone in the wash and will be on ebay later this week. I have real problems with trousers and shorts in that the waistbands at the back always gape. So badly I can put a fist down the backs of my trousers. Its got something to do with my back curvature I think. I also think that if I could shrink my thighs and bottom then a much smaller trouser size would fit (I am heavier in the lower half). I will hopefully get the all clear from my specialist this month to do some tummy tightening exercises as crunches are completely off my radar at the moment and I really could do with getting some core strength built up again.
Tissues greatfully received @izzy and @ballerina come on now you've started us all off
Yes I also have kept certain items from all those closest to me especially family members but we can't hang on to everything because @Wendy Darling set this tent up to help her and us to declutter our lives and homes.
Another charity bag on the go now for me with few more items of my clothing in, strange but men don't seem to do charity bags at all or is it my OH only.
Busy day today so I've just finished one kitchen draw
I've not got rid of much at all from this particular draw but its now nice, neat and tidy, think I'll stop at that for today. On to the veggies for Sunday roast. :like: :clover:
@sue.q just imagine if we all did a shelf/drawer/cupboard each fast day? Soon have the clutter cleared and somewhere to neatly and safely store our treasures.

I wore an old pair of trousers recently that I haven't been able to get into for years. How I wished that I had the shoes I used to wear with them. During this weeks decluttering I unearthed them. I was so pleased to see these old friends again when I thought they were long gone, so don't all go too mad with your chucking out. Think carefully
What a great find @Wendy Darling Just goes to show we can go to mad  ME::

Now I'm wearing someone else's feet Lol how I wish I hadn't had a major decluttering session 2/3 year ago giving away a box of designer shoes + sandals given to me by my sister nevermind someone somewhere benefited from them. :clover: :clover:
I de-cluttered the bedside cabinets and my dressing table top today. There is still stuff on them but much less than there was.
I too have my eye on some cheapo stackable boxes @Silverdarling
Well done Wendy@Wendy Darling on getting back into those trousers and on finding the corresponding shoes! :like:
Note to self: Chuck out like crazy but avoid too hasty hurling! X
I cleared out part of the airing cupboard today after reading through this thread, but didn't get rid of anything. I still have the bottom of the cupboard to do, there's definitely a lot of stuff there which can go. It's where I keep all of the old unwanted sheets and duvet covers. I've got to be strong, I had intended to make something with them - pillow cases or patchwork something, but I never will. I must grit my teeth and get rid!
Just finished going through the top drawer of one filing cabinet--now have lots of empty folders and hanging files to store in the back of the drawer--and a plastic grocery bag full of paper--such useful items as all the plans, reservations, etc. for a trip that we cancelled 4 years ago

My method is to set a timer for an hour or so--then start looking at each paper in each folder and actually forcing myself to make a decision. When the hour is up, I'm done with that job for the day.

I see that in the last few years, I'm doing a lot less printing and storing of paper--just looking up info when I need it and not printing and storing unless I really, really need to--and then I usually just copy into a word processing doc and save it on the computer.

Thanks for this thread to get me going!
I like the idea of the timer @marybeth I have made a list of things to do around the house this week and have written an estimated number of minutes against each one so that when I have some spare time, hopefully I can fit the chore to the amount of time I have right then and manage to finish them instead of having lots of half finished ones.

Oh @sue.q so pleased that you are still wearing someone else's feet. I do worry about your tootsies.
Today I am fasting and I have cleared out my ironing basket. A bag of stuff to go to charity as it has been lurking for months and a large to pile to iron. Makes me feel good. Am now over halfway through the pile to iron.
I cleared off my desk today, but that only happened because I whilst I was moving the books around and onto my new shelf, the whole pile of books fell off and knocked everything all over the place. The weird thing is that for life of us, and three have tried, we can't find the glass, liquid filled part of the lava lamp. It was there before the book fall, but is not now.

Yesterday I did manage to cut up some large logs that has been sitting on the ground in the garden, hopefully when they dry they will have some nice spalting and grainwork for when I use them.

My ooomph has gone walkabout, so I'm not sure what else will get done today.
Well done Bob and Julie. I fasted today but was very busy and didn't chuck anything out. Still, after last weeks efforts I feel as though I have a head start on this week anyway
The new ' flat' pillows i ordered have arrived,so it's time to chuck my old pillows..well recycle them along with a very old duvet to the local cat rescue..they are always glad of blankets, cushions etc to make beds for their residents  x
