Well @TBrewerton, you inspired me. The weather is miserably cold so I plugged in the treadmill, logged my 10,000 steps while watching music videos. Was actually kind of nice to check my pace. Now, to jump on there in the mornings before work to take advantage of the glycogen burn like @tracieknits.

@carieoates I'll check into it. I know a class just started here this month. I'll see if another will be scheduled. I would definitely be an inside gal to start! Thanks for the input!

@pennyforthem let's check it out!

I was thinking that encouraging someone just starting out to run 25km was a tad aggressive... :razz:

Har har. @BruceE

@Debbiejgb it's an app, you may have classes but most use the app.

Which fitbit do folk prefer? I've had a look but am still undecided. I wear a lot of dresses so my traditional pedometer which HAS to clip on a waistband is useless really.

I've recently got the fitbit one and love it. If I'm wearing a dress I clip it onto my bra. I personally didn't want one that you have to wear on the wrist, as they look quite bulky to me and I wouldn't want to wear it if it didn't go with my outfit! The One is tiny and so discrete no one knows that I'm wearing it (unless I show them!).

Think mine's the fitbit zip and I wear it tucked into my bra. I tuck it onto my shoes when on the bike.
I'm thinking of signing up for the year's Premium to see if it'll get me more active.

My OH has now lost a grand total of 3 Zips, he wears it clipped inside his belt, at least when I say "when did you last have it?" he can check the website, which has worked a few times, but not this time and he is reduced to wearing my old pre One one (the one with the back held on with sellotape)

So shhhhhh big secret I going to get him a Flex off ebay for Valentines.

Big steps day for me today, 5k run then a 6.25 mile walk, my bed is already calling me :smile:

I've had a lazy day today, did another 10k race yesterday (46mins, so consistent but disappointed to not do a faster time after all the training I'm doing) plus 10k bike ride so no steps, plus 3k walk. Slept well last night!
Wearing a fitbit one really pushes me to go out on walks at lunchtime and my dog always gets an hour's walk a day too, so she appreciates the fitbit too! My target is set to 15000 steps a day.

Does this tent have room for a Withings Pulse user? I've had mine since the beginning of Jan, and this week I'm determined to make it to 70k steps for the first time. I find 10k easy on work days, as I have walking built into my commute. I go out at lunch time for a walk, as I'm generally fasting if I'm in the office, and need to get outside.

I'm sitting here devising some errands I can run tomorrow, so I make my target - I live in the middle of town, and everything is only a few minutes walk away, so I need to be creative to be out for long enough

All Welcome, but you'll have to tell us how you are getting on as we can't see you on our Fitbit Leaderboard.

When I first skim-read your post I thought you were aiming for 70,000 steps a day!

Quick edit, you must have some amazing walks around Lewes on days it isn't raining

Thank you @SianS. Today I've done 9,384 steps, 181 foot elevation, which wss 82 mins of activity.

Yes, Lewes is lovely to walk round, with the added advantage of being very hilly :cool: My favourite is to walk up to the golf club, which is properly steep, with lovely views on the way up.

Well, I'm feeling a bit sad, because @GoLinda said this to me back at the end of January -@wendyjane you will have a short window to be in the lead. When we change to February some participants will get off to a slow start. So you can have a few days in the top. - and then we had a lot of snow on the first, I didn't have time to go to the gym instead of taking a walk, and as a result, I'm not even in the top 20 right now. Well, there's always March (when it will probably snow even more :frown: )

Isn't it just so @wendyjane? And to think when @umleila was thinking of starting the group I had the audacity to say, watch out, because I take to a challenge. It does inspire me though and like I said, you kind of jostle back and forth with the few people ahead and behind you:)

So, go nudge them out of the way.

I am so sad :-( I just had my most active day in months. I was doing training at a store from 7am until 6pm and on my feet all day rushing back and forth between different tasks... got to 4pm and I went to check my App to see how I was getting on and I had left the one at home! This is the first time in a month I haven't worn it! Why today :-(

I = sad panda
