Just saw 'Skyfall' at the weekend for the first time ... DVD at my Mum's. better than expected, so must seek out the other Daniel Craig ones ...
Ooh @Silverdarling Casino Royale is THE Daniel Craig Bond film to watch...in my humble opinion  Oh yes, @Candicemarie Fargo is a classic. Mm maybe I'll have me another watch of that

Well now, what did I think of The Book Thief? Hmm, um, the book is definitely much better. I found the film rather slow but the acting was very good (Geoffrey Rush is always great) towards the end, the tissues came out and I was in floods of tears  so it wasn't bad in that respect. All in all, I would say read the book, don't bother with the film

Bean :geek:
Saw The Truman Show on tv Sunday night..everyone seemed astonished i' d never seen it before, enjoyed it muchly!
These films are really old school, but I love them.

To Kill a Mockingbird
Laura
Rear Window
Casablanca
El Norte
West Side Story
Suspicion
Un homne et une femme
Today i saw Fading Gigolo with Woody Allen
Hmmm wasn't that impressed but couldn't put my finger on why..
Tonight i read a review by aGuardian critic who said," didn't ring true", which totally summed up my feelings about it
Of course being Woody it was very funny in places ..but funniest thing fir me was,we had to sit separately as the cinema was so full, then halfway thru the film i saw My Beau glide past the screen going to the loo. Wanted to guffaw with laughter
I have so many films to now that I should see with these posts. I must give myself "free time".. so hard in this busy world.
Saw 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' in the pictures here and really enjoyed it. On speaking to non-diving daughter, it seems it was cut/censored. So I want to to see it again...
Alos on the want list which are hopefully uncensored here, so I will go, is
Malificent and How to Train Your Dragon 2
but NOT in 3D- it makes me sick :(
Really wanted to see the Great Gatsby but no way here it would be shredded to bits
hate censorship here.
Lately we have watchen 4 films and more ach week - stress relief for The DH and yesterday we watched The Prisoners with Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhall. As oldest son said - it's a really good movie, but horrible. And it was.
Being a fully paid up grumpy old woman, I find myself preferring old movies nowadays.

The classic British war movies made during or not too long after WWII - The dambusters, Sink the Bismarck, the Cruel Sea, Above us the Waves. Other movies of the time - Casablanca (and Woody Allen on song with Play it Again Sam), Rebecca, Whisky Galore, Brief Encounter, the Ealing Comedies, Powell and Pressburger like A Canterbury Tale and I know where I'm going. Moving forward, Lawrence of Arabia for the landscape and music.

One of my all time favourites when I want a cheer up is Kelly's Heroes - Clint Eastwood but especially Donald Sutherland as Oddball.

Prefer mystery and adventure to romance
Looking forward to seeing " Jersey Boys" on the cinema next week..the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons
Also going to see " Chef" x :geek:
janet as film critic ...
"how to Train your Dragon 2 ' seen- Brilliant. Think it may be even better than the first one. Warning- it is sad! Shame it was crudely cut! It's a cartoon you numpty censors.
'Maleficent' - couldn't make up it's mind if it was a cartoon or real- too much CGI methinks but enjoyable all the same.
'The Great Gatsby' watched at home last night with a wee glass of fizz- bit long, beautiful sets and lighting . Think if I had been at the cinema I might have got a bit bored though. No, it would only have been about 10 minutes long here! Good soundtrack. Love the way Lurhman takes recognised tunes and messes them about. The 'oh, what is that one?' effect.
And it's 20 years since Thelma and Loiuse was released

I saw Chef and really enjoyed it. I'm planning to see The Fault in our Stars. I read the book. I hear the movie is good and a real tear jerker!
