Re: New! Insomniacs tent...

I've been browsing my holiday albums and have started a new thread about holidays. With a picture about one of the most magical places I have ever been too. Hubby is awfully glad he got to see it before his condition made it impossible.

Me. Not mixing visits to both gym & in-laws again, too much cortisol.

How has the move gone?

Something I've always meant to ask you is do you crossfit as thing like bp coffee are very "cross-fitty". If you don't, California is the home of crossfit...

The move went well thank you. Everything has fallen into place. I can't believe how much you can do in a week if you put your mind to it. Crossfit. Well the answer right now is no as it all seems bit intimidating. However there is one around the corner from me and they are doing free trial classes. I'm thinking of taking a look........ Do you crossfit?

My one day of the week when I don't have to get up as my friend does the horses' morning hay run for me on a Saturday and *bing* .... wide awake at 4am. Doh!

Morning Domane. How's maintenance going?

I'm not there yet! :( I found it so hard to get back into losing my post-Crimbo weight and got into the stoopid mentality of "eat all the leftover goodies quickly so they're gone" - which of course piled on more weight AND carb fluid. Last Sunday morning I could have cried when I got on the scales but it was the final "wet fish slap" that I needed and I fasted and got right back into it at last this week. The weight has come right down, with me being totally strict and sticking to my calorie counts - and lots of running! I'm just 3lb off target again now, which I have vowed to shift by Valentine's... THEN I can go back on maintenance and possibly try the low-carb, high fat diet again. I feel back in control this week.

How's life across the pond?

Ooh... do you have a recipe for an easy (ish) low-carb bread type recipe, please?

You would be fine. They go on about it being hard but it's all scalable & you're only competing with yourself, so it's up to you how hard you want to go. I started almost a year ago, made such a difference & the community helps hugely. I went from not being able to get up & down to being pretty fit, for me, so much easier than running or whatever as the high intensity, short duration suits me with my dodgy biomechanics...

I discovered recently that I cannot squat with my heels on the floor! My husband showed me that he can.... and gloated somewhat!

I've done 10 years of Pilates & now a year of crossfit to get a modicum of flexibility & just found out my husband can do perfect air squat with no previous instruction. Spit. Much as I love him...

Oh, the thing with Crossfit boxes is that they are as all independent so quality can vary. Check out the coach bios & box ethos.

Why don't you revisit the pumpkin bread? post119626.html#p119626 Filling and delicious. Yes I can squat with my heels on the floor. Try it again holding onto something in front of you, eg bottom of the radiator. It will help you balance.

Move gone well so far......... the social security office was hilarious this morning. Standing in line, the security guard came outside to address the queue. Apparently it is illegal to kill a federal employee (I'm not joking, it's plastered on the front door), so no firearms, knives or pepper spray allowed into the office. He told us that we had to take a ticket when we got into the lobby and that it was a touch screen, but it didn't work very well really, so more of a "poke" screen. (his words not mine!). So getting used to the cultural change is probably the biggest thing. And then there is the driving...........

Ha ha, yes, we noticed that in the post office in Hawaii, armed guard and FBI most wanted signs everywhere. Pretty scary TBH.

Yep, just tried aquatting with my heels on the floor. I can do it, but hurts like hell as my quads are just starting to complain after squats with weights yesterday. They will be even worse tomorrow, it's always two days later that the agony begins!

And yes, karen, the driving, atrocious, riding motor cycles without helmets. Unbelievable! Infringement of civil liberties I was told. I asked whose civil liberties were infringed when the ambos had to scrape them off the road?!
