And yes, karen, the driving, atrocious, riding motor cycles without helmets. Unbelievable! Infringement of civil liberties I was told. I asked whose civil liberties were infringed when the ambos had to scrape them off the road?!

Many states have their own rules on things like guns and motorcycle helmets. An general rule of thumb is "blue" states (i.e. voted Democrat in the last Presidential race) tend to have more safety laws than "red" states - the "bluer" the state, the more this tends to be true. I live in NY - very blue - we have strong gun laws and you have to have a helmet on when you ride a motorcycle.

Although I have to say, I have never ever seen an armed guard at a post office before!

Now that is interesting since blue here in Sweden (political wise) blue is rightwing Moderaterna and red is the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterna).

When we was in FL last winter (Fort Myers) we came upon a de lux chocolate factory(store that had an armed guard. Who robs a chocolate store? A 5:2 er out of their wits?

Wolfie - I gotta say, there's some scary people in Florida! All sorts of weird things happen there. I'm not sure where Fort Meyers is, but my sister lives near Fort Lauderdale, near Miami, and crime is BAD. She was so proud her small town was the "safest" in Florida with "only" 20 violent crimes in 2012 - but my town was one of the safest in NY state and 9 of the top 10 towns in NY state had ZERO violent crimes for the same year.

ETA: both my mom and dad have fathers from Sweden. Needless to say I grew up being taught Sweden is a paragon of all that is good with the world. I'm hoping to go in 2016 :-)

Evening all. I keep on saying that as long as I get to bed before midnight, I get a good nights sleep. Well last night we got to bed before midnight as my daughter is now on the sofa. And, I slept a full 12 hours. I am going to try that again tonight and for as many nights as she is home before she emigrates.

I hope not to see you here again as I am doing a quick dash through the forums as I've had PC trouble all day.

I bet you're all beginning to forget me

I couldn't wait to get to sleep last night... we turned the light off at 11 and I swear I was asleep 30 seconds later. I heard hub's alarm go at 6.05, then I slumbered on till 7.45. I think in the past week, I've caught up with a year's worth of sleepless nights! Obviously, no alcohol + exercise works for me!
