Or Blue Nun!!!!!
We tried quite a few when we were in South Tyrol, Italian section, I guess we have got used to the Australian style as we preferred those TBH. It is actually very hard to get anything other than Aus or NZ here which is very frustrating, and you pay for it too. A decent bottle will cost $25 (GBP13/14) which annoys me, but the import and excise costs are so high.
I make good use of the Iplayer too, I am trying to find out how to illegally download Series 3 of the Killing as I just finished Series 2 and am hooked! Danish not US version!
I missed the handbags Ballerina!

Well they are all lovely and really brainy. I'm surrounded by PhD computer scientists and the sort of thing they are working on will eventually change our lives. It's much smaller than I'm used to, but that is why I'm there - to help them grow without the pains that most companies have.

I'm working with Russian's, chinese, polish, indian's and american's. A couple of the guys seem to be rock stars in the big data world and so people just want to work with them. It's all very exciting to be part of something very special.

It's been quite a week though. They have been saving up all of the difficult things they don't like to do for me, On top of that, the boss's PA found out she had breast cancer on the day I arrived. She seems to be the glue of the office so everyone was extremely upset about it. On the plus, it has been caught quite early and it has made us bond very quickly.

The driving is terrifying and the drivers are just plain rude on the roads. However it is apparently a very desirable part of California to live so I think I'm seeing the best of it.

Weather is unseasonably warm. They have a very serious drought on, but I can't complain that I went out for a breather at lunchtime and sat by the fountain in 17deg of sun. Must take some pics for you all. Doing 12 hour days though 'cos nothing else better to do yet.

Oh goodness,
Sounds like a baptism of fire! Exciting though by the sounds of it, and worthwhile which helps! You may as well put the hours in if you have nothing else to do at the moment. I try and distract myself as much as possible and TBH, spend far more time than I should on this forum!! I'm now spending more time, not less.
I must have a look and see where Walnut Creek is. I guess you are in one of the more enlightened areas of California?

Series 3 of The Killing??? Where are you looking at getting it from? I liked Series Two better than One. I also would like one the jumpers but they are so really expensive!

I know what you mean about not being able to get European wine. It's all Californian here (which is not cheap), and the limited range of European stuff is ridiculously priced. Because I'm in wine country though, they are into their wine tasting bars and restaurants big style. I need to find a way of joining up

Yum. Thierry Henry just turned up on Graham Norton.....

Yes I'm living there but commute every day to San Ramon. It's very 'normal'. None of the crazyness of the south, although @betsysgr8 and @lovemyparrot may have a different point of view. There is alot to do here without having to go into San Francisco and the shops are incredible but never busy. I'm going to go into J. Crew tomorrow to see if I can get some work shirts as I didn't bring very much with me, although it's great that I can just wear jeans to work. Neiman Marcus also has a great restaurant which is great to go for lunch if you are on your own as you don't feel like a total saddo for being their on your own just with shopping bags for company.

It all sounds wonderful, except the driving although I remember once driving round San Francisco in a sports car and that was fun. Never liked the L.A. Highways though.
Well girls, I am going to try and get some sleep! tomorrow I am off to the nursing home where my mum died to do some manicures for the old dears. They love it and it keeps me in touch with my future.....

Night night, and thanks for the chatter, see you tomorrow night

Oh blow, my post vanished, I must have timed it exactly as Ballerina posted!!
You will have to find a local wine appreciation class and embrace the local brews!!
Itunes has Series 1 & 2 but not three which is annoying. I love the jumpers too! Ju bought one in Iceland which cost an arm and a leg, knitted by Gudrun apparently! I settled for a hat!
From what Tracieknits says it probably isn't worth geting a TV to watch as there is nothing on! I watch a lot of iview too.

Hey Bean. What's keeping you up? Haven't had the chance to chat with you in ages. How is your health at the mo?

Hi Karen. I know, it seems like an age. I can't keep up with all these different time differences! Woke up, couldn't sleep, thought I'd make a cup of tea and try and read a bit more of "The Luminaries" and ended up on here! Very addictive isn't it? So how are you getting on over there? And what an earth time is it? Are you 8 hours ahead or behind?

Bean

It's 9.40pm. I'm 8 hours behind. Just waiting for OH to wake up so we can skype. Getting on great as you can see from my earlier musings. What's The Luminaries like? I have downloaded it but not in the mood to get into it yet. Prefer the interaction here to be honest rather than being alone in the evening.

I though the Luminaries was supposed to be sleep inducing according to someone?!!
I know what you mean, I spend too much time on here!!

Yes it is addictive. I have a Grazia subscription for ipad and not had a minute to look at it since I downloaded it on Tuesday. The person who lived here previously was a magazine addict and not got around to changing her subscription. So I'm in free receipt of Vogue, Harpers and InStyle all gratis. Not managed to read these either!

Yes this site must be great for you. You're never alone!

I am enjoying "The Luminaries" but it is really long and I've got books stacking up on my Kindle from all the Daily Deals I keep getting! I would love to be able to lock myself away, have a marathon read and get it done and dusted...but this blessed site gets in the way...hey ho!

This reminds me of being on night shift when you'd get to work with people you only ever saw briefly in the morning...it's great!

Oh @Debs yes I know. It IS good, I'm just easily distracted I guess!
