Re: Sassy Seniors Sanctuary

Yesterday was interesting.
I was feeling rotten with a sore throat and bunged nose so didn't bother being careful about gluten; after eating two slices from a small whole meal loaf for lunch sandwich, and a third of a cheese and tomato pizza for dinner plus a few bits of the grandsons left overs, my stomach bloated and hurt and boy did I know about it.
So, having been very careful to avoid gluten for some days prior to this, I now know I'm sensitive so really am going to buckle down to not eating the stuff again.
I now have a clear plan for 2014, I think :0)
No gluten, as little sugar as I can manage, and a fresh start on 5/2 fasting.
I'm going to live forever :0D

@Azureblue that is a good plan, especially the last bit. Hope you are feeling better today,

Sneezing and coughing but must be well for big family lunch tomorrow :curse:
Dear grandsons donated this bug, as ever, and are in a similar state. I'm sure we can infect everyone everywhere by the end of tomorrow!

Azureblue, hope you're feeling better now. If you are sensitive to gluten you will need to take care once you cut it out. I know from bitter experience that once you get it all out of your system even a small amount will bring a much bigger reaction.

I went to a very posh ball a couple of years ago. I had a gluten free meal ordered and the waiter was great. He brought me a special starter and took pains to tell me that the main course was fine for me to eat. As you might imagine, when the dessert came as an assortment in tiny shot glasses and was simply dropped onto the centre of the table I assumed I was OK. I got to the last tiny spoonful and tasted biscuit! I had a dreadful night and the following morning I was in a dreadful state and had to face the drive home! The effects of a good hit can last for 2-3wks so don't take any chances. I never thought that such a tiny amount could make me so ill so don't underestimate the spite of an angry immune system!

Have been to our local Matalan to get a Christmas gift requested by someone this was my first Sunday shopping ever and now I'm just going to ice my Christmas cakes while doing a sort of semi-fast trying to compensate for my first ever non-holiday 2lbs gain.

Hope you will soon be feeling better Azureblue & fighting fit for Christmas.
I also hope all you SSS's are not finding the run up to Christmas too stressful
We will be going to stay with our eldest son who will be hosting this year & have just come back from visiting London & shopping in Regent & Oxford Street. It was a complete madhouse with streets filled with people that reminded me of sci-fi films of Metropolis. We survived our trips on the Tube & had a lovely dinner at Côte Brasserie with one of our sons & his partner who had bought us tickets for the Chinese Painting Exhibition at the V&A. We had a lovely time but the feet & knees eventually wore out & we were quite pleased to return home & put our sore feet up  unfortunately our stamina is not what it used to be!
Well on with wrapping presents :present: :present:

Hi sassies, hope your day is going well. I have been out for morning tea with a friend and only had a cup of tea because today is a fast day for me. She understands (even though she is skinny :curse: ) I have all my Christmas shopping up to date with only last minute food items to go. Will have 12 for Christmas tea.

Hi, Just rediscovered the forum after going off track for a couple of months. I would love to join you guys I am 65 and loving it. Still working, I cook and cater for a living so fast days can be hard going some times but I feel so much better when I was following the WOE hence remotivated after feeling bloated and yuk lately. I am a coeliac so have to be really careful when eating out but I do love cafes and restaurants. Summer here and the temp today is 30 deg.
