Hi, hope I'm not too late to the sassy party? I have been lurking and so enjoy reading all your fabulous posts. I'm 61 and finding 5:2 is on it's way to preventing me from being a fat little old lady. I was afraid I was about to be as wide as I am tall.

hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Phyllis

DH and I had a lovely day and managed to see 6 of our 10 grandchildren opening presents. The 7month old got the hang of it very quickly, but was disappointed when the wrapping paper was confiscated before he could eat it. He was also delighted that after his mushy blended baby food he was handed a roast parsnip to chunder on,

Ah well, I'll let you into a little secret @Mountainmyst my 'rest up' turned into a snooze! hub cleared away and woke me with a G & T...steady on there....
@Nessieyou sound to have had a lovely day too

I think I can do justice to DiL's leftover cashew nut crumble and a pickled onion, followed by 'Still open all hours' and 'Death comes to Pemberley'.

 Hi Phillis and Welcome
Glad you've decided to come out of hiding to join us all
:clover: Good Luck to you with this amazing WOL

We've had a very quite and relaxing day today eaten when and what I've wanted to But something strange is happening for lunch I had a salad with a slice of quiche
( took pastry off)
Made a meal of the gammon which I had roasted 3 new opotatoes and veg OK I did have some trifle.
But no alcohol all day and not a single xmas chocolate has been touched in 2days at all so what's going on here?
I actually encouraged my OH to not open a bottle and save it until tomorrow when I will be fasting all day then evening meal with wine so should be under my TDEE

Around this time of year this seems to be a pattern for me coz in the last few years I haven't gained over xmas but with the cake and xmas chocks I then gain Jan/Feb and typical we've had more chocks + biscuits than ever  I've stated that I will "ration" them and so I will deffo so if anyone drops in for coffee then I'll force bickies on them or you if you pop in to shift them quicker. So have not overindulged to much today but am looking forward to a fast tomorrow and may even have my usual weigh-in
No point in hitting the sales because I've another
50lbs to go!!!

  Happy Shopping to all the SSS members  Sue

Hi MountainMist and welcome...I am a newbie to this forum and a fairly newbie at this way of eating too, having started at the end of November. Good luck in the journey and I am happy to be travelling it with you.

Sue Q, most years I put on weight in the week after Christmas, snacking on leftovers and scrumptious ham AND the chocolates someone usually gives me AND the choc coated peanuts someone usually gives my husband. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day I am so busy preparing food and feeding everyone else that I tend not to feed myself and wait until all is calm all is quiet again  I DID overindulge somewhat yesterday though and I am having my yesterday's fast day today, then another on sunday and a third on Tuesday in preparation for a big family New Years lunch. I will be glad when all festivities are over and I can concentrate on this and work into a sustainable pattern.

Just had a hefty chunk of Christmas cake as it needed to be started ...
Went to a nearby reservoir to see what birds had arrived with the storm and it was quite busy there, goldeneye all round, but the wind nearly cut me in two!
Popped into an Asda for a hot chocolate but no, the machine is broken and no, there are no peppermint teas either. Depressing.
So you see the cake was VERY important!

Saturday addendum:-
Watched many swans courting and fighting today, is Spring coming early? My weight going steadily up, 71.6kgs today. Shocking. Determined to do a good fast on Monday, a proper 24 hour with no more than 350 calories come evening. That's 2 whole kilograms more than my lowest point :0(
