I've had THREE drinks since the end of the month - one while watching the football and two last night (vodka and orange - don't want to buy wine) - and two was one too much - I've become a real lightweight and didn't really enjoy it that much - I think that is definitely a good thing. We are going out to eat tonight so I will probably have a glass of wine - but I am going to try and keep it very, very light as long as I can !!!!!!

Hello Feb Soberista's @lovemyparrot@Mahalo@Rawkaren
Are you with us this month @Wildmissus? Anyone else signing up?
Yes, I slipped up last night but I'm back for the shortest month, as rawkaren has pointed out. :clover

@Lizbean, I'm not going to join you this month. I achieved what I wanted to last month, ie. getting out of the habit of having a glass of wine every night. I've also a Scot's night tomorrow night which involves bagpipes, haggis and yes, lots of alcohol! However I'm sure I'll be back in here again.
I'm IN for drinking very, very light and being "mindful" - does that count? I need to eat like that too, and I do most of the time !!!!
Hi @Wildmissus oh my that sounds like my type of party, wishing you a fun time!
@Lovemyparrot Anything goes target wise. I'm just past my first month maintaining so while I'll aim for one month no alcohol I will also treat myself if an occasion arrives like it did Wednesday eve. I prefer to take my carbs from food rather than empty alcohol -but then I like to socialise so I'm weighing the pros and cons, if that makes sense to you. Guess I'm being mindful.

Makes perfect sense. I will be doing the same - we were out last night so I did have some wine, but we don't go out that much . . we are in tonight and I am being very good and not too bothered about drinking at all.
Its all good
I sat there last night with a glass of non alcohol wine . It breaks up the fizzy water,
One thing I've cut out is diet fizzy drinks, they will be an occasional choice from now on, they did help me get a sweet fix in the past but without knowing it I've virtually weaned myself off.
Doing 4.3 and not usually drinking on a Friday because of this is a great help.
I won't be doing dry February, and I'm on holiday end of March into April. So I could do dry march until I get to the airport hotel on the 25th March. Who knows if I slip back into bad habits I may. Ive also got my goal to get to before then so I might need to save more cals to get there,
Only time will tell,
I declare that this is my new route:
Saturday's I will have what I want in future ( if I want it) and Sunday lunch with a glass of wine.
Good luck to everyone whatever challenge they embark on,

Maybe the wrong question to ask in the soberista's tent, but I thought I'd start here instead of starting a new thread.
One of the reasons I have really cut back on wine is being on my own. No fun on your own anyway and I either end up chucking most of the stuff away or drinking more than is is good for me. It's also really expensive here. But very occasionally I would really love just a nice glass of wine. I have seen on t'internet that you can freeze wine and I'm thinking about freezing some in portions for the times when I do want to treat myself.
Has anyone tried this?

You could always cook with it Karen, I put sherry, wine or port in loads of food.
I'm not sure if this answers four question Karen but I have a little story about frozen wine......
Whilst on a family holiday camping in France (one of the last our teenage son truly embraced) we made friends with the family in the touring caravan beside our sited one,
We made many a trip to the local shops and supermarkets trying to find the right tipple for our evenings of card games and family fun. As we were in a caravan with real " leccy"we offered to cool down their purchases very often.
Up till the wee hours on most nights we got through too much pink fizz, it wasn't too bad and in the temperature of almost South of France we enjoyed it.....eventually.
Most mornings I would check the freezer to find a popped cork
The little freezer was lined with a bubbly pink residue, which was almost slush puppy like (sorry for non English, frozen ice maybe).
It smelt ok but ....
If wine froze ok it would be great, as I often have a few drops left at the bottom of a bottle.

@rawkaren, I've not tried it but I might as well be on my own as no one else drinks it. So the next time I open a bottle I might just freeze some to give it a try but I'll need to think of something to put it in. The plastic lock'n'lock's I use for freezing soup always retain the smell of soup. I have a couple of frozen cocktail pouches in the freezer at the moment. The only problem with them is that I like to drink them quickly before the slush melts .
Well, I thought I'd better confess that I completely failed dry January ! However, much to my surprise I have stopped drinking minimum 4 days a week instead. I thought this would be harder but I actually find it ok. So I will be keeping this up long term I hope. I've never frozen wine, sorry, we just put the cork back in and use it for cooking or with lemonade next time. I rarely drink alcohol other than wine. Anyway, respect to all of you that managed dry January !
@Mrstee good for you! So Feb here we are. This WOL makes me drink lots of fizzy water, do you? :victory
I love my fizzy water

I just declared over in the Fasting Today, Wed thread that I am giving up alcohol for Lent, which starts today. Will be checking back here in this tent for inspiration and support. Good luck all you soberistas, stay strong.
@Judithn welcome back and easy as it goes.
I am giving up wine for lent, going to be hard as I have a weeks holiday during the period but here goes.
