On leaving mum's after Christmas she gave me boxes of homemade goodies. Yay! And aargh!
We ate all the biscuits really quickly, but I put a few of the mince pies in the freezer for a treat when I'm back on track! She also gave us a Christmas cake which is sitting looking at me; I daren't start it because once I do, it'll be hard to stop. Maybe I should freeze that too?! I really am trying to get back on track and had a good fast day yesterday till the evening- OH had bought chocolate. Hrmph.

I have recently returned from 3 weeks hols. While I was away, I couldn't access the forum, so didn't have access to the Temptation Tent to help me resist!
We still have Christmas cake left - I allow myself 1 small piece on non-fast days - we only started it a week ago as were still eating mince pies, shortbread and Dundee cake...!!!
But my worst indulgence was a very large tin of Quality Street where I consumed almost all the contents in less than a week while away. Hadn't had these chocs in years, and had forgotten how much I love ALL of them!!! Then I got home, and ate all the leftovers from another large tin of QS (the ones my sons don't like...).
On my return, I fasted for 3 days in 5, and am relieved that my weight gain has been minimal - thanks to being pretty active while on hols I think
But I have got in the habit of over-indulging on non-fast days, so think I might try a food diary to help me get back on track and ensure I don't put back any of the kgs I so successfully lost last year.
Especially given that hot cross buns are already in the shops, AND my kitchen... (the males in my family - who do not have weight issues - like them...)
Good luck to all others resisting temptation!

Darn, didn't know mince pies could be frozen....
I have plenty leftovers from the chocolate I should have bakes with and didn't because of all that happened at the end of the year and have no idea what I'll do with it. Even still have meringues from Christams eve

Cheese, mince pies, chocolates, and Xmas cake, all still here, but going slowly. I will allow myself one on a feast day, ie a mince pie or a bit of cake. I'm not bothered by chocs, but I am partial to a low cal hot choc in the Eve of a fast day just to push away the nibble monster.
My temptations are the chocolates of which there are still plenty my hubby is very good at squirreling them away but obviously not good for him either.
Nuts, mince pies, and nibbles all long gone.
Christmas cake just one chunk left which I'll cut into 2 maybe tonight.
But at @callyanna Great suggestion I did cut in half and wrapped the other half in foil and hidden it lol
Bet I don't forget where I put that though, and I know it will still be temptation but won't be surrounded by all the other stuff that the will season brings with it.
Had a good fast yesterday then later in evening had
5 chocks!!! I suppose it could have been worse.

As we are talking about cakes, I have a question for British fasters as it seems to be mostly a British tradition
20 years ago I lived in a family for 2 years in England, as some of you know. One think shocked me, they were married for 10 years at the time and they still had a slice of their wedding cake at their anniversary. It's the same kind of cake than Christmas cake, with frosting. How can it be possible to keep a cake for that long and is it a national tradition or was it just one in this family ?

Could have cried last night @carieoates
At the end of a seemingly endlessly long and very hungry fast,i put my hand into the cupboard to grab a friendly kind comforting 40 cal choc drink...and there were none left! i wanted to scrrrrrream the place down! X

I've heard of couples keeping a tier of their wedding cake to use for their first child's baptism but 10 years does seem excessive!
Yes, I also understood it that people kept a slice to celebrate their child's baptism. As we didn't tell anyone and haven't had kids, I missed out on both!! (My choice BTW). Personally I would have gone for a quadruple chocolate mud cake for my wedding cake anyway!!
I left all the xmas goodies behind in my mums house when I left after xmas - so no leftovers temptations here....
except...the upcoming easter goodies - creme eggs, malteser bunnies - how I love them.
I did a fast yesterday and had to buy petrol yesterday evening, and there was a huge display of creme eggs beside the counter so one escaped into my pocket
But I didn't eat it until this morn so thats ok right!!!

@Candicemarie, I will write a blog post to explain how it happened. Plus it was nearly 20 years ago, which give me a reason to celebrate
I fasted all day yesterday and then ate 4 green and blacks miniature chocolates. Not had choc since last August. No idea why I had it and looked up today - they are 80 cals each! Struggling to get back to low carb I think..
I forgot about the cheese. I still have at least 1kg of various cheeses in the fridge, the standard Cheddars, 3 or different ones of different strengths, the blue cheeses, another 4, I polished off the Edam two days ago, the Lancashire, Wenslydale and the Double Glouscester that haven't even been opened. The white Stilton with Apricots that needs eating this week. All yummy and all rather high in calories. But I will persevere and eat them all.
I don't have any mice pies left, but I do have one and a half jars of mince pie filling left. No Christmas cake, loads of crackers (to be eaten with the cheese), chocolates, that were presents for hubby, so we won't touch them, and, Christmas puddings, we have 8 or 9 of them left, for future years and mid year celebrations, just to eat them up.
edit: Mince pies, not mice pies.
