Thanks @justdee for the article...very helpful. Interesting about the fat cells holding water for a little while. News to me. I am on a 'water pill' and get tested for mineral imbalances. The first 3 days on it I lost 5 pounds. Too bad it wasn't during 5:2 or a challenge. It looked good anyway. Now that I am slowly losing fat, I sometimes do look puffy. Good to know this is normal.
First week loss this challenge was 2.6 pounds, the most in one week since water loss!
Hello Everyone,
I'm new to fasting, just getting started today. My start weight is 181 and I'll be following the 4:3 plan. Hoping to loose 1-2lbs per week by Aug. 19th which happens to be my hubby's birthday which will be a bonus celebration. Any advice for beginners is definitely welcome. Have a great day!
You're very welcome ladies, I know some people would have read it before but I read it every so often just to remind myself. Well done on your losses this week, both very respectable. Keep on with the great work. I have weighed in today and have lost 2.2lbs this week, my weight today is 166.2lbs. I'm now under 12st, I've just got to stay there now. I'm loving this challenge, we're only just over a week in and have collectively lost loads of lbs. At the end I'll add up how many we've lost as a group.
Good luck to those weighing in tomorrow :clover: :clover: :clover:
Well done everyone for first week loss. I lost 1.5 lbs and was quite pleased as I had 5 days away. Will start again properly tomorrow with fast. Definitely will continue with low carbs. Onwards and downwards. X
Hi @committed, welcome to the forum, the challenge and to this way of eating. If you have any questions just ask, there's loads of help and support here. I'll put you down for 7lbs. You are challenger # 16 . Good luck :clover: :clover: :clover:

Hi @Macalfran, well done on your loss this week, you went away too and still lost 1.5lb, that's great :like: . Wishing you an easy fastday tomorrow. :clover: :clover: :clover:
My first week's results:
Starting weight 169lbs
Weight this morning 166.5lb
First week's loss is 2.5lbs. :victory:
Challenge,
Days out of care always, lots of food and plenty of drink, I will run after the result!
No loss!
The higher the skidding longer the time to achieve the goal.
Good fasting all
Well done @Queen56 . Keep up the great work :like:
Welcome committed!!

Well today is a great example of why fasting gets so hard for me sometimes. I woke up hungry, which I rarely do, but probably woke up that way because it's a light day. No loss right now, still at 207.6, but Monday is always my heaviest morning of the week, so I hope that trend continues. Wednesdays are my official weigh in days :-)
Not to worry@Ana56, better than a gain. Keep at it, I'm sure next week will be a better result. :clover:
Hi everyone,
I can't officially check in, because I am away from home in San Diego, CA. I have done A LOT of walking here though. My first day between flying and visiting the zoo, I got in 17,000 steps! Since then I've gotten at least 10K a day. Lately, I'm very displeased by what I see in the mirror and in pictures, so I am really motivated to do well when I get back in a week!
Congrats on those with losses so far!
Number 14 reporting in...with a 2lb GAIN.
Yup, in one week, with two fasts and several runs, and I've managed to put on TWO POUNDS. So I think it is is time to get real here, and realise that I have a choice. Do I want to be able to nibble between meals, eat second helpings, and rather large first helpings, or do I want to keep my normal BMI?
Well, obviously I want both, but guess what, I can't have both... I don't have a problem with fast days, just normal days.
Will try harder, I want yellow stars too! Well done star-getters, and particularly @loveswalking, a stellar performance!
hi @annurca
dont fret too much about your gain. yes, it is disheartening (I havent lost anything for 2 weeks) & it can very easily throw you into "stuff it, Im gonna eat what I want" mode.
you came on here & told us all about your gain so Im thinking you probably havent gone into "eating" mode, but put on your "I can do this" head :) we both can do this :) I want stars too.
running does cause some water gain with muscle repair & you have been focused with 2 fasts this week so well done on 2 fasts :like:
sending positive thoughts your way for a better, stronger week.
good luck. shelley xx
Please don't lose heart@Annurca. As Shelley said, I'm sure the gain is a result of running. You will be losing fat and gaining water, as you know, your muscles need the water to repair (for now). At 150-ish lbs you don't have lots to lose and we know that can slow things down too. Ok, maybe cutting out a few nibbles and having smaller meals on non-fastdays will help, but it sounds like you're on the right track. Keep at it and it will pay off.
I have 6 stars here with your name on, I'm sure I'll be handing them over very soon. Good luck :clover: :clover: :clover:
Just a check in. Despite being fairly well behaved (or so I thought), my weight loss was more modest this week. I'm 206.6 this morning, which means I'm down 3.7 pounds in two weeks of the challenge.

But I'm still 28.4 lbs down since April, and very close to the goal I had set back then of 30 lbs down before my trip in August. So I think I'll crush that goal :-) I'm also down 65.2 since my high, and down 10.5 points of BMI
