I might be a little obsessed with my WI. This morning I was all dressed and ready to go teach my class, when I realized I didn't weigh myself yet. I actually got undressed, weighed myself and then got dressed again!!

Well, I'm up a little bit today. I'm not surprised though. I had PMS this week and had a bad fast day on Monday and was kinda high in calories on Tues. and Weds. I did well on Thurs. and Friday though and still did my C25K on Tues. and Thurs. I'm pretty sure it'll go back down next week. That is as long as I don't go too crazy this weekend, since my birthday is tomorrow!

Since my last post, I gained again the following week and this week I stayed the same. I've started to get a little frustrated, because I feel I am following this WOE properly, but not having the best results. I've only lost 6.5 lbs. since Jan. So, after posting on this forum and reading other people's posts and thinking about it here are some of my thoughts/ideas...
1) I think my recent setback might be partially due to having started C25K. Perhaps my muscles are retaining water. I'm certainly not going to stop doing it because I still feel that in the long run (no pun intended!) it will be beneficial and it is a goal of mine to finish. But, maybe I just have to wait it out a bit until my body gets used to it!
2) I probably need to drink more water/fluid. I've never been great at that. I'm better than I used to be, but I'm going to work to get a little more. Also, I hadn't been drinking green tea as much, and even though there's no evidence that it helps with weight loss, I figure it can't hurt, so I will try to get in one cup a day.
3) I thought that perhaps I would be less obsessed with losing weight by doing this WOE, but unfortunately that hasn't been the case. While I am definitely overweight and would probably feel better if I lost weight and would fit into many of my clothes better, I am certainly not HUGE and I am out of the obese range and in the overweight range. My health (blood pressure, cholesterol and all that) is actually very good (although I'm sure that could change if I'm not careful.) I feel that while I still do need to lose weight, I need to also try to be happy with how I am now and be a little more patient with the weight loss.
So, my plan is to try to weigh myself less. Right now I weigh myself pretty much every day, but only really count it on Saturdays. I think I'm going to start by weighing just once a week and work up to less. Maybe once a month. If anything it might be a pleasant surprise when I do.
4) I have resisted this last one for many years thinking that it didn't really matter, but I have now decided to try to reduce my carb intake (especially sweets). I'm going to do this with small changes at first. In looking at reports in MFP I see that on non-fast days, sometimes I am over 200g in carbs. So, my first goal is really just to stay under 200. Then as I go I will strive to go lower. I am good on fast days, my intake is only around 50g.
All that being said, I am a teacher and am on vacation this week. I am not going away, but I'm sure I will be going out more than usual. I am going to try to still get my fasts in, but I'm sure I'll be over my TDEE on some days. Pretty much everything I mentioned above will start after my break. I will be doing my C25K training a lot this week though, as my 5K is just 2 weeks away!
I really do appreciate this forum and because of it, still feel 5:2 is the right way to go for me! I just have to be a bit patient!

Best wishes for your plans, from your fasting buddy! Hope it all goes well - and enjoy your break first.
I am sure that cutting down on the carbs is really going to help a lot. Enjoy your time out of school this week and my very best wishes to you with your new plan.
Oh, lovely to 'see' you @Auriga! Great pic!

Great plan!
I think changing your carb source on normal days is one of the best things you can do. You will probably find swapping the sugar carbs with carbs from vegetables will make a huge difference.
Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I'll let you know how it goes!
Good luck with your intended changes @cblasz
Great idea we do have to adjust our diets as our body changes throughout our fasting journey as you know I've made considerable changes especially this last week, I've been fasting 52weeks today and still learning this forum is so informative, keep reading keep learning keep running, and yes your muscles will be retaining water and carbs make us retain water even further, see you over in the Low Carbers Tent.

Well, this week I was on vacation so I ended up not fasting and ate out more than usual. I did also walk/run a total of 13 miles, but that didn't help. I'm up almost 2 lbs. I do think it might almost be that TOM, so that may have something to do with it. But, I'm not going to stress about it. I put it in the tracker and I'm going to move on.
I bought a bunch of healthy and lower carb food for this week. I'm going to put my scale away, so I don't obsess too much. I'm going to drink lots of water and green tea. I am also going to train 2 more times this week before my 5K on Saturday. I don't think I'm going to be able to run the WHOLE thing, but I'm going to run as much as I can.
I really hope to start moving in a downward trend!

All the best CB enjoy the journey. Low carb introduces you to some wonderful.foods you will findit interesting
Thanks! I'm not actually going "low carb" just "lower carb"! I'm going to take small steps to reduce my carbs. My goal right now is just to stay under 200g a day (except fast days of course will be much less as they have been all along!)
Good luck with your 5K and lower carb WOE!
I'm happy to report that I peeked at the scale today and the extra 2 lbs on Saturday have gone away! I have put the scale away now and won't weigh again until Saturday!
Well, I officially weighed myself today (I didn't get to yesterday) and am back down to 171.5. Still only 6.5 lbs. overall.
I got back to fasting this week. Although I struggled a little bit with it on Thursday. (But I did run that day too, so my net calories were still close to 500)
I tracked my carbs and cut down a little. It really wasn't that hard to stay under 200g. I didn't have to cut back that much. So, I think I will try to cut down to under 150. I expect that will be more challenging!
I did ok with getting in fluids, but probably still have to work on it a bit more. I also only got green tea in a few days.
I put the scale away from Monday-Friday. This week I will try to wait until Saturday.
My 5K was yesterday and I did it in 42 minutes. I ran almost the whole thing, with just a few 1-2 minute walking breaks. I did run the whole first mile in about 13 minutes. I'm very happy with how it went and plan to keep running a few times a week. I hope to run without any walking intervals next year and beat my time!
I'm just going to keep plugging along and hope I am starting on a downward trend!

Good for you! Just keep the faith and keep on keeping on. It will happen.
