First of all, I have to admit I stole 'from pig to twig' from another forum and I do believe its a completely different diet, however I like the clever word play and that is important to me! :-)

I have decided to start a progress report, more for my own benefit rather than anyone elses.
I have struggled with my weight seriously for 14 years. Whenever I looked in the mirror I looked exactly the same, whether I fitted into a size 12 or size 20.

I have struggled with so many 'diets' and 'eating behaviours' I could write a book! As I am sure many of you could..
I first discovered the 5:2 way of eating from someone on the horse and hound forum. I am so grateful! After many years of yo-yo dieting, I felt I was getting somewhere.
When I first started the 5:2 diet, after much research, when I told people, I was met with such negativity and oppression, I was actually more determined to prove people wrong.
I am currently 4 weeks in and 10lbs lower in weight than when I started.
Great work twiggy
Thanks! I am far from twiggy though!
One has to have a vision to work toward
You've got to start somewhere, and one day you will be a very healthy twiggy. Lol
Yesterday I was out with friends for lunch.....on a fast day.
I had no problem sitting there with my fizzy water while they tucked into garlic prawns, new potatoes, tomato onion and tuna salad and bread.
It didn't bother me one bit as I thought tomorrow I can have that if I want, but if I don't have it today then ill hopefully have lost weight this week.
Normally it would have killed me to watch them eat, but it didn't.
I'm 4 weeks into this, and can't believe how my relationship with food has changed.
Good luck on your journey horseygal.
I don't want to be a twig as I'm more a trunky/branch type build! But it's a very descriptive little phrase!! :-)

Good luck and no, no negativity here, fab way of eating!
Thanks everyone!!
Just remembered I think pig to twig was from here...doh!
Having ate chocolate and drank energy drinks through the final year of my degree last year (mature student!) I reached the heaviest weight of my life and a BMI of 'good grief'!
I managed to shift some of the weight running around with small children on ponies at pony club and cutting out the food I really enjoyed, but this, like every other time, wouldnt last long. I had come to the point where I decided this is the way I am and if people dont like me coz im fat, then thats their problem.
After reading about 5:2 I was a bit sceptical but was very interested in the science behind it and read up on some of the papers and decided to give it a whirl.
The first weeks fasts were easier than I thought and I was pleased to lose 5 lbs. Second week went ok and another 2 lbs gone. Week 3 was the hardest as I had to change my fast days so my routine was out, however I did get to eat pancakes and still lose a lb! Just finished my fourth week and thought I had stuck at the same weight but after reading Carorees post about weight and water retention I had a sneaky weigh the next day and 2 lbs gone!
I had a bit of a problem after week 3 fasts as I went back to excessive eating. The weight loss on the 5:2 had got a bit exciting and even though fast days were ok, non-fast days became all about food and it was all I could think about.
After posting on here and getting some great support (thanks everyone) and a fast day, the food obsession switch seems to have been turned off and non-fast days are no longer a reason to pig out "because I can".
Even though this WOL is working brilliantly for me, I am still wondering if it is too good to be true. This is the part I still have to get my head around. Just going to take it one day and one lb at a time.
Hi Horseygal, yea I read the pig to twig on here too :) I have pretty much the same diet history as yourself and know exactly what you mean it does seem to be too good to be truee.
I haven't told anyone I'm on this programme as yet as I did'nt want the agro of people being negative.
P-T is India Knight's diet...

I actually think it get easier, I had a dodgy week around about Wk6 but it's easier again now. They found on the clinical trials people adhered better as time went on, too, which is unusual as people stick to a new thing and then lose enthusiasm.
I'm not sure I ever want to be a twig either, certainly have no experience of it as yet, but I love the phrase.
Horseygal those pony jobs are great for getting you exercised aren't they? I think I would be a lot heavier and more sluggish if I didn't have the ponies, though sometimes I dream of a lie in in the morning, even 8.30 would do.
It was my birthday over the weekend, so to say I indulged is an understatement! On first fast day of the week and im a little peckish today but its not uncomfortable. I imagine my body has lots of repair work to do today.
Yes Gill, I would definitely be much lazier if I didnt have ponies to look after!
Tough shift in work tonight. Had to restock all the chocolate and was craving to devour it all! Even one of the kinder eggs had broken open and got chocolate everywhere. So pleased I didnt weaken. Looking forward to tomorrow.
I have lost a stone!!! Wooo hoooo!!! *runs round room waving arms!* Cant believe I ate like a pig over the weekend but I have lost another 4lbs! I did do quite a bit of exercise last week too so perhaps that gave me a bit of a boost. Ooh and started taking vit B12. Must ensure I continue. Im amazed, I havent lost a stone since I was 18! :-)
