I blend MRM egg white protein with unsweetened vanilla almond milk. MRM also makes whey protein, but I stick to the egg white protein. I like the vanilla, but I have also used the chocolate.
I get it on Amazon.
Special hi to east coasters. Been watching the news this morning. All I can say is brrrrrrr......... stay warm and safe!
Six below (F) officially here early Thursday morning, but the official thermometer is 30 mile east of us and not at our altitude, so I'm guessing it may have been another couple degrees colder here. Combine that with it being a fast day for me yesterday and I was C-O-L-D all day. Now it has "warmed up" to 16 and is snowing like crazy.
I so would like to move somewhere with a kinder climate. But I am so hooked on the natural beauty here and how small and comfy our little towns are. Every time I look at what other people think are delightful "small towns" in warmer places I find a place with 5 times the population of the towns around here that I already find a bit too busy to live in, surrounded by big suburbs. I guess the cold keeps too many people from flocking here--that and the lack of jobs--which is why it retains its lovely rural character.

After what I think was a stellar week of diet & exercise, the scale is up 2/10 of a pound. Waist measurement, however, is down 1 inch! I'll take it. Plus........my thigh muscles are SO sore from boot camp, I'm sure there's some water retention going on. I'm claiming this week!
Here we are at Monday again! How do the weekends go so quickly?
This winter weather is hard on me. I have no hobbies other than golf, so when I can't get out there and play, I'm at a loss! That leads to surfing the kitchen for something to do. That is never a good idea! I'm afraid I have probably squelched any hopes for a loss at this Friday's weigh in by my grazing over the weekend. No sense crying over spilled milk, I just have to give it a good 4 days and see what the evil scale has to say come Friday morning!
Have a good week everyone!

Agree about the weather and getting out. Looks like another day of avoiding the weather outside. I did manage to sneak out for a long walk yesterday when the sun was shining and temperatures creeped up to a tolerable level. The outing was worth it as I got to see lots of deer, fox and birds in my urban park.
I'm here today. I'm with you all on some weight gain. This bad weather makes it hard. And now we have snowmobiles diving though our front yard even though they are suppose to be over in our pond so I can't let the kids go sledding. I made a bunch of signs out of cardboard telling them not to go in the yard but they don't listen. So we piled a bunch of toys in the trail they made so I'm hoping that works. But the good news on the weight gain is I haven't gotten above where I was back when I started and I know there is hope so I refuse to be discouraged. I just need to control my eating on days that are not 5-2. It tried 1000 calorie day on Friday but I forgot that I had church event to go to that night. So I decided I will do the 1000 calorie day starting this week. I refuse to be discouraged because this is a life change and I believe this is one I can manage forever
I'm in MD. Hi!
Hi, @SandraD! Welcome to FastDay and 5:2; go post on Introduce Yourself and let us get to know you.
@Peebles, Washington State has lots of cute little towns. And while we aren't tropical, we don't have months of ice and snow either (I think our fabled rain keeps people away; it's not as bad as all that). I live in Seattle, of course, the biggest city between here and San Francisco (the only other place I've lived). I will say, we are famous for the natural beauty around here too; did you know the Olympic Peninsula (a ferry ride and a couple of hours by car; it's where Twilight was set) has the only true rainforest in the U.S. (average 140 inches a year)? Makes our 30 inches of rain in Seattle look pretty moderate...Yet on that same peninsula is a rainshadow, Sequim WA (but probably not as small as you'd like, it's very popular with retirees). We are sandwiched between two mountain ranges: The Olympics are along the coast, and the Cascades split the state in half, so western Washington and eastern have entirely different climates.
(Oh, I almost forgot: GO HAWKS!)

Hi everyone!
I had a good fast day yesterday and today I'm being very mindful about my eating. I'm just about to have a cup of Greek yogurt.....I throw 5 dark choc covered espresso beans in my yogurt......so good!
Another eating day tomorrow and then back to a fast on Thursday. Friday morning I face the scale once again.
Boot camp done for today and another session planned for tomorrow then 1 on Friday. That's my week!
Hope you're having a good day!

I'm in Boston. I only learned of it from recent NPR posts. I'm leary of fad diets and tend to wait for the science to come in. While there is limited science in this, I liked that it's basically the same principle of what I follow now: eat less, move more. It's just shifted in terms of when you eat. It also has some (possible) health benefits in terms of reducing the likelihood of diabetes, which I am predisposed to.
I've felt pretty good in my first two fasts, so we'll see. I have about 50lbs more to lose, I think. I've been seeing a dietician, and I emailed her about this but I haven't heard back yet.
How have you liked it so far?

Welcome Liz!
I've been dabbling at fasting off and on since last fall, but only got serious on January 1. I'm still learning to not overdo it on my "eating" days. My first week didn't net me any loss on the scale but my waist lost an inch! I'm not giving up as I'm not willing to do the calorie deprivation day after day. I feel this is something I can do forever. I find the fast days quite easy, even when doing a strenuous morning workout. I have a protein shake after my workout and then nothing until dinner time.
I'm anxious to hear what your dietician thinks. Keep us posted!

Just popping in! I'm fasting day (Wednesday) and I think it will be a good day. It is going to warm up for the next 7 days into the 30's which is way warmer than where we were at -24f. So I'm hoping to get outside some more with the kids again with hiking, skiing, ice skating and sledding.
We are eating more raw veggies here at home and I have found a very few can fill me up but not have to many calories. I also am working on not over eating on non-fast days. I'm trying a low cal day this Friday with a goal of 1000 calories.
Well have a great day everyone!

Hi!
Seems odd to be doing back to back "eating" days, but here I am. Like you, Canoegal, I'm working on not overeating. Fast days are quite easy for me.....when I'm at work. At home, it's a different story. I'll be fasting again tomorrow.
I had a rough boot camp workout this morning and feel rather like someone beat me with a baseball bat. 2 days in a row of boot camp will do that to me. Day off tomorrow! YAY!
Eating is planned for the next couple days. Just need to keep my portions in check tonight!
