Stockings are emptied, gifts are opened......all in the space of a few minutes. The kitchen is put back to rights after dinner and I'm having the last of a bottle of wine! I'll soon be :sleepy:

Hope you all had a wonderful day with family & friends.

Hmmm.......shall I fast tomorrow or Saturday? Decisions, decisions. :?: It HAS to be one day or the other as my sister comes on Sunday and that means we'll be going out to eat and have another Christmas celebration.

I got some new workout clothes from my daughter. Love it! What was your special gift for this year?

LOL! @Lori I was thinking the same thing... fast Friday or Saturday. We have so much yummy food I'm going to attempt to try it tomorrow, but if I blow it I'll then attempt Saturday. As for a gift I got another walk away the pounds dvd.. my girls say I collect those like they collect dolls

Ok...the day after. I'm going to give fasting a go today, although it may be a "half-fast". I'm going to do my best to stay below 1000 calories. I'm not sure what we're doing for dinner tonight, so that may blow up my plan. No worries, Jan 2nd is my official re-start day. It's harder to fast when I'm at home all day, so once I'm back to work, it'll be easier to stick to 500 cals.

We're getting together with our son & his family today. He's a police officer and had to work Christmas eve and spent part of yesterday getting some sleep. He works 12 hour shifts so sometimes it's hard to get together.

Have a great day everyone!

I'm in Ohio (the part with the Buckeyes) and I've been thinking about this too.. And I'm sure it has to do with both those aspects, the "what would they sell us?" (Nothing?) And the whole don't skip meals ever! fears. I found out I'm sort of terrified of being hungry, and maybe it's because every diet always says be sure not to get too hungry because you'll eat everything in the house. (Which anyone who's woken up after a fast day knows could not be further from the truth.)

I found this through an Amazon book recommendation, and even that is kind of funny because the book sure doesn't have much either. I mean after you've said five days eating and two days at 500 calories... It's a lot of filler.

I do love it though, only been just about ten days for me and down 2.6 pounds after three total fast days. That was before Christmas of course, so all bets are off now! (Fasting today before I check the scale!) Honestly it's the first thing I ever thought I could really live with. I'm going to stick until May 1, 2015 no matter what, to give myself time to get used to it, to make myself patient and not have goals of losing etc... Just to make it a four month plan not a ten or twenty pounds plan. I can only fail if I stop this way.

If you haven't seen the documentary you can find it at Documentaryheaven.com or at Daily Motion (which has a Roku app too)... It's called Eat, Fast and Live Longer.

My Sister in law bought me a book for Christmas; it is called, "What the Bible says about Healthy Living". I wasn't to interested in it but then I went to the back and looked up fasting and found a chapter on it. This book has 3 principles for a healthy living and the number 3 one was interment fasting! The chapter was really good as well. I think it will inspire me to survive fasting today, it went into how it repairs the body which I will need after a day of eating like yesterday.

Saturday already! My vacation will be over before I know it!

I'm afraid I won't be getting a fast day in until Tuesday when I'm back to work. Too much temptation around here! When I get going for the new year, I'm going to do 5:2 as written instead of ADF like I was trying to do before. I'll give it a solid month to see how it's going to work for me. The most important thing is going to be getting the sugar monkey off my back and watching my portions, even on eating days. I know that eating what I want and eating as much as I want are not the same thing!

I've been a lazy slug and have done zero exercise over the holiday. I'll get back to it when the boot camp studio opens on Jan 2. They emailed us workouts to do at home, but I'm not disciplined enough for that. Not going to happen.

We're going to go get Chinese take out for dinner and just stay home tonight and watch football. At least I'll get some vegetables in with my Chinese! Hope you've all been doing better with your eating than I have done. Sigh.....

My sister comes tomorrow and that means even more eating and drinking. Oh well.....bring on Tuesday morning and my first fast in over a week!

Enjoy the remainder of your weekend!

Hi, Rawkaren -- I'm in the SF Bay Area as well. I haven't found many folks who've heard of the 5:2 Diet. I'm new - only started three months ago, and am thrilled to be down 11 lbs. The forum helps me stay motivated; got a little overwhelmed with the holidays, though, and haven't been on the site enough.
Happy New Year!

Thanks for popping in TeaAngel! WOW! You are doing great with 5:2! I will be over the moon if I can lose 11 lbs in the next 3 months!

Just having a couple cups of black coffee....saving my calories for later today when my sister will be here. We'll just be snacking for lunch and then going out to an Italian restaurant for dinner. If the rain lets up, we'll go out on the rail trail for a walk. Lord knows I need to get back into the exercise habit. When I take a break from exercise, I really take a break! I've been glued to this recliner for 6 days now!

Enjoy your Sunday!

wow that's a great loss @TeaAngel! I haven't lost weight since the beginning of November. But I don't have as much to loss as everyone else and this is a life long change for me so I'm hoping to loose my weight in the next year. 14 years ago I lost a about 60 pounds and kept it off till about 2 years ago when it started creeping in again. I was up 12 pounds when I found 5-2 but I was so worried about gaining my 60 back. Right away 5-2 stopped the gain, and then I lost 2 pounds; but now I still have 10 pounds to go. My husband says even if I stay where I am now I'm ahead. But I'm hoping 5-2 will help me get back to where I was.

@TeaAngel. Pleased to meet you! It's wonderful to have someone else on PT - it can get quiet here when we go online. Congratulations on your fabulous loss! I have been struggling with losing since I moved to California but I do feel much healthier. I have found only a handful of 5:2'ers where I am, but plenty of IF'ers. Welcome to this wonderful community!
Thanks

Thanks for your welcome, @rawkaren! Where in the UK did you move from? Sounds like quite a daunting task, and I'm pretty sure I couldn't have done that! You had quite a year - I read the posts for the 2014 recap, and I appreciate how difficult the move must have been. I grew up in South America and moving to California when I was nine was quite an adjustment, but I was a kid and had my family.

We'll have to help each other along the 5:2 path!

@TeaAngel. I have lived in Northumberland for the last 15 yrs (North). I'm here at the moment for the holidays and go back to SFO on Jan 14.

Feeling good today. Did my exams online for the first semester and have completed all of the required essay apart from the summary.
Chia for breakfast and turkey with a huge pile of Asian slaw for lunch. Kitchen was closed at 2pm and will re-open tomorrow after 8am!

Good Morning all!

Here we go......first fast day in a week! I decided not to wait until Jan 1, but instead, I have declared December 30 as my start date. I will not weigh in until Friday, Jan 2, as Friday's will be my weekly weigh in day. I also want to measure my waist and possibly some other spots to track my loss that way as well. I plan to get 2 good fast days in before official weigh in. I'm sure the number on the scale will be quite shocking after all the Holiday eating, but it is what it is and I aim to change it in a downward direction!

The boot camp studio reopens on Friday as well, so I'll be getting back into that. I may die. It will have been a week and a half since I did a single exercise! Oh well......I'll get back to pre-holiday fitness in no time.

Are any of you declaring a new start for 2015? Let us hear your plans!

Hello Sourbaby!
I'm in neighboring NM....Albuquerque. I agree that it is interesting that so few Americans are into 5:2. Going without food when you are used to snacking all the time is really difficult. Frightful, actually. And we are a country of snackers.

Anyway, I just wanted to reach out and say hi. How has 5:2 been going for you? How long have you been doing it? I just started at the end of Nov--too much feasting at Thanksgiving :) Happy New Year!
