Actually, he recommends mediTation, not mediCation. I wish it were as easy as meds!! I've been trying to meditate with a cat in my lap. Seems to help a bit.

Well I feel almost wrong coming on here at all lately, as I haven't fasted in ages. My thyroid hormones have been reduced, but I still get crazy hungry by about 11am (which is better than 8am).

I bought a lot of tea this week to try to help. I got the really good stuff (Mariage Freres, from France) to try to keep me off the sugar. Their Marco Polo and Wedding Imperial are two teas I love without added milk or sugar. So I'm hoping to drink more tea when I get hungry.

I have maintained at the same weight for ages now - most of the year. Which is certainly better than gaining. But I'm still up 7 pounds from my low. I would like to get back down there.

I've been trying to reduce the carbs, but it's definitely not something I enjoy.

Oh well. We will see where my levels go from here.

Hi! I completely agree, seems like no one has heard of this around here. It's good to know I'm not alone. So far I'm loving this way of life, that's how I see it. What days are your fasts and how long have you been doing it?

I'm so curious why I the 5:2 diet is so much more popular in the UK than in the US. Maybe because it's a diet that actually involves purchasing LESS food, and doesn't promote buying "fad" products that are expensive and benefit the diet industry? Hmm. Not sure. Anyway.

Looking for anyone in the US who is following this plan, I'm on PST (in Arizona), would be nice to say hello to you all!

Same here, dont know a single person in my circles doing any kind of fast regime and on the occasions that I have shared my experience I get a lot of push back, so I have found it best to keep it to myself unless some asks. I have been doing the traditional 5:2 for 2 and a half years. Since I reached goal I still do 2 fasts a week, Monday and Wednesday but they are a little more relaxed, I dont measure so I'm sure I go over 600 cals sometimes on those days.

It is quite popular here in the Bay Area amongst the biohackers, especially those who are fans of Dave Asprey. Intermittent Fasting is more popular than 5:2 and typically people talk about daily fasting windows and working out fasted is a "thing" here.

I know a couple of other people (other than here on the forum) who do 5.2, including my male friend who's been doing it for a few months now (after insisting for over a year that he couldn't possibly not eat for that long). Seems that watching me be successful at it--even though I've been plateaued for awhile--made him think twice. But it's rather amusing the reaction you get when you say, I've lost and kept off over 30 lbs, and they say, Oh, how did you do that? and I say, Just eating 500 calories a day two days a week, then eat normally the other five days. They recoil and say, Oh, that's not very much? and I say, it's only two days a week. Not that I can say whether it's popular in the "fitness" community, since I'm not in that group.

UK based I share your experiences to a degree. I have now informally come into contact with 43 people outside the forums who are long term fasters, doing their own thing, successfully.
Back in the early 80s I was one of a few who cycled in London (it was quite scary as we were not recognised in any way), now we have a large cycling movement that contributes to positive change in many ways.
Fasting does not suit all, but I think it's an interesting conversation to understand where we are. I like how we talk about/touch on the wider issues of well being, exercise, stress, meds, pets, family, car breakdowns, jokes, snow, sun, sandpits, delcuttering and our changing seasons.
@Tracieknits might be coming to your part of the world now the Libs are in
@Debs hope all is well, likely to land in Qatar in 2016.

I'm still here! Today is a fast day. My Sil is a personal trainer and she said the reason for platues when you are exercising you need to do one of 3 things: either increase intensity, increase duration or in increase distance. So I have re worked my workout because I can only do 2 fasts days a week. I tried adding a 3rd but couldn't fit it in. Hoping this works as well.

Happy November! I'm checking in. I'm not into green tea and I'm going to work on skipping breakfasts on most non-fast day days. I'm fasting today and it sure it hard with all the kids Halloween candy laying around. I did have one peanut butter cup so far.. but have resisted the rest.

Finishing up my light day today; looking forward to eating tomorrow. Wednesday is a holiday here (Veterans' Day), so we may go to a movie tomorrow night. Funny how "everything" sounds good on a light day, but by the following day, I (fortunately/usually) have regained self-control.

My scale went down for the first time in a few weeks.. down one pound :) What is everything doing for Thanksgiving next week? Anyone doing extra fast days to make up for it? I'm going to have to move my days around because my normal fast days are Monday and Thursday. Have a great day everyone! Never give up!
