@Hazelnut20 coincidentally I too am starting 4:3 so that between fasts are easier! I'm managing well and like the new regime: easy to do after so long on 5:2 and every hope that I'll shed the few pounds to my dream goal!! to Good luck with your week!
ferretgal wrote: As I posted on Monday's fasting today thread, I have realized I have been drinking too much beer on normal days. I declare that I am limiting my beer (alcohol) intake to one per day (normal days only, of course), except for special occasions (such as parties or happy hour), which I don't do very much, so... I have fizzy water (preferably with lemon and a splash of Angostura) on light days, so I can do that on normal days to sub for "extra" beer.

I think I need to make a similar declaration. After spending the last two Saturdays hung over badly, I definitely need to go a long period without drinking that much. But even more, I want to limit myself to only one glass of wine at home, and maybe two drinks when I'm out. I could have an alcohol free month, but I have a feeling I would just fail.
i gave up drinking completely ( except for weddings or 21st's of my children..) because I just couldn't even do just one. Not that I drank a huge amount, it was easy to loose count on those days that I did. 2 sometimes became 5 in company, it seemed much easier just not to have any in the house. We don't drink at home at all anymore.. It was easier than I thought.

Looking for advice as well pls - did a B2B the last two days, and had a slice of cake and a cup of tea today - been on the loo ever since.. Is this normal after a B2B? I usually do Mon Thurs Sat Fasts.. not normally B2B.

Thanks for any tips on food to avoid after a B2B..
@JAQ, I don't have any tips or insight, but those who do may need to know what sort of loo visit you needed....

@Hazelnut20, the credit for the extract goes to our wonderful expert carorees - I obviously did not make that clear enough :( So many of us have the issue of finding non-fast days the difficult ones - that is no doubt why we have problems with our weight management in the first place. For me, 5:2 was a wonderful strategy for losing weight, but I have to find other strategies for dealing with overeating.
btw, I have been meaning to say how nice it is to see you back! :)
Aww, thanks very much @sassy1 - very kind of you to say that!

I am so pleased to be back on this wonderful forum and hope I can be as helpful to some others as you all are to me...
A "normal" day here too. I added up all my planned food and it comes in well under my TDEE. That leaves room for a beer or slice of cheese if I'm so inclined. I don't count every day, but sometimes I just make sure I'm on the right track. Scale is still up and down by tenths of pounds. I may heave the scale out the bathroom window and just live! ;-)

Have a good day everyone!
So I weighed myself on Monday morning, after a naughty weekend, and my weight was the highest it's been since last March. It was even higher than my traditional Christmas gain!! So I started logging every bite on my fitness pal, and reducing my over-the-top carb consumption, and this morning, I'm four pounds lower than Monday. Panic over, I think that was water. Still, it may have just scared me straight. I'm still 9 pounds above my low weight of November, but I have a renewed attitude.

I'm having Caramelized Tofu with Brussels Sprouts for dinner tonight. I've made it before and it's amazing. http://www.101cookbooks.com/archives/ca ... ecipe.html I know I didn't use that much sugar; knowing me I probably used 1 tablespoon.

Off for a nice walk with the dog outside in the sunshine and the relatively balmy 8C/47F :-)
@Tracieknits it's shocking how all of a sudden the extra is there! How? Why? What?
I'm determined to 5:2 properly for the rest of this month and hope my body complies and loses that unwanted half stone. Hope you can too.
Very best of luck to us honey :0)
Thanks @Azureblue! Best of luck on your half-stone :-)

OMG I just ate an insane amount of stir fried tofu and brussels sprouts. I feel like I could go a week without eating again, but we all know that's not going to happen!

I definitely need to say something similar@MaryAnn and @Sassy1 - I just haven't quite got my resolve going again yet - I need to get a grip on the mindful thinking and the "choosing" to drink or not drink as mentioned here and on the Maintaining thread - and I haven't quite got my head in the right place yet - - - as my dear hubby is over there fixing us both pre-dinner drinks - oh dear :curse:.
I know its up to me - I know you can't really help BUT just your listening and understanding on this forum is a good start !!!!
@Lovemyparrot - you and alcohol, me and chocolate....

and me, with both ;-)
Shaping up to be a tough day. I started eating earlier than usual, around 11:30 a.m. and it is now 3:30 when I usually have my first meal. I have consumed about 800 or 900 calories in that time without even having a proper meal. Just snacking - those darn crackers, with butter this time! I did have a bit of soup so maybe that is a meal? even though it was more a little soup to go with handfuls of crackers LOL. Beef stew is in the oven so my evening meal should balance things out, I hope. It seems even if I stick within or under my TDEE when I eat bread or crackers with butter I gain weight. Is it the combination of carbs and fats that are the cause? (I am resisting my son's open bag of chips! small success)
It seems like everyone is a bit different, and people have to find there own things that work or do them in. I suspect it's because we all have very slight mutations, the kinds that make, for example, a good medication only work well for about 80% of people. But if you find something that doesn't work for you, it's good to know that!!

I'm making a lovely Poulet a la Moutarde from a David Liebovitz cookbook. I made it last night and it was so heavenly we're having it AGAIN tonight :-)
I tossed out all the crackers in the house! today should be a better day if I can make it to 2 ish before I eat my first meal. If I start eating now, like I did yesterday I will gain. I woke up this morning to a gain of a lb overnight! I must stop this trend of losing and gaining. The beef stew is yummy so perhaps some of that later. I'm also making spaghetti sauce today, my son requested it so that will be his meal tomorrow while I fast. We've been cooking together every Sunday since January 1st. I let him choose the meal and this time he has chosen crepes with fruit and ice cream. A decadent breakfast for supper! I will allow myself this indulgence and then get back on track tomorrow. I won't be having any of the ice cream just a couple of crepes with fresh cantaloupe or blueberries with a bit of maple syrup. The crepes are cooked in butter, though. Oh well, I won't be losing anything today! just hope I don't gain. And I'll be back to fasting tomorrow. Good luck to all non-fasters today! :clover:
