Re: *Marvellous May* - Day 2
02 May 2013, 20:05
Good evening Team Marvellous et al :)

So... day two has involved my 'Week 2, Day 2' run from Couch to 5k (although really it's still more of a walk than a run at this point!) and I've cumulatively walked just shy of 10km again, by coincidence. I've not been fasting so I've eaten a reasonable amount, but I have managed not to go completely food mad :)

Food in: 1782
Energy used: 1970
Deficit: 188Kcal.

Not such a massive deficit today, but I think actually achieving a deficit *at all* on a food day is an achievement for me :D may the wonders of Marvellous May continue!!

I had a cool moment today where I reeeaalllyyy wanted to pop out and buy a cereal bar (science was completely foxing me this afternoon and being confused by science often leads to snacking, which I'm much more accomplished at :p) but I thought about how much I wanted to be able to post a calorie deficit for Team Marvellous this evening so I didn't buy one!! *win*

How have your days been?

Good Stuff - avoiding that cereal Bar! One big step for me was keeping away from the biscuit tin in work. I have not touched it in over a month! its the small changes that make the difference.
So here is how my day went, had a long day in work, which I broke up by a lovely 3km lunch walk.
Got home from work at 7pm and was super tired but I did commit to team marvellous that I would hit the gym so I did. (Honestly if I had not posted earlier that I was going to the gym I would of stayed in).
In the gym I cycled 20km doing an interval style workout & then ran 5km slowly to start then getting faster.
I then had dinner which came to about 560 cals, I think.
I was struggling today at times but was not going to let team Marvellous down!

How is everyone else doing? We are nearly there :-)

Hello Team Marvellous - so far so good for me too - have golf planned for Saturday and Sunday and Sunday is my second fast day and to be honest I am really looking forward to it!

Keep on keeping on Team Marvellous May - :)

Good evening all :)

Day three has gone reasonably well; I started the day with half an hour of pilates and then this evening I walked 7km to a dance studio for ballet rehearsals (we're doing the nutcracker - much excitement!), so I've burnt off roughly 2100kcal today, although I find it hard to know how much energy is really used in a dance rehearsal.

I did have a couple of hundred calories deficit, which was nice... until a friend suggested going to the local wine bar for a catch up before the weekend... so I drank my calorie deficit in the form of a glass of merlot :( but it was a real treat and, having included that in my MFP calorie count, I don't *think* I've gone over what I used in energy today.

How did your Friday go, legoman?

I'm glad to hear that you're doing well Rhonda :D enjoy your golf tomorrow and good luck with your next fast :)

Good evening/night team Marvellous,
Wow you guys are doing great. Rhonda enjoy golf, I find it relaxing and when I play I always get a bit of a work out as I am all over the course.

Nice Hummingbird, glad to see your still going strong. You need to unwind some times and your merlot sounds yummy, that's the thing I love about this is that you can still go out.

So my day went okay. I was really good in work had a nice breakfast and lunch, and did not snack. As first Friday of the month work ordered in food- today was an Indian. I stayed strong as new I would have dinner later. I did not have any. I had one bottle of beer then home. I got really hungry when home and ordered in a pizza :-( eeks, was lovely but I think I went a little over today and did not do much exercise. So not the best day for me. But watch the space tomorrow as I plan to smash it!
Keep it up team!! And have a great weekend :-)

Until tomorrow :-)

Morning Team Marvellous
Sounds like everyone is doing great - keep up the good work :)
- I am off to play golf this morning and that sun is shining so that is a bonus. Think I will not partake in a meal at the clubhouse and instead come home and fix something healthy :). Tomorrow is my 2nd fast day since starting on Monday last week and I am still looking forward to this.

By the way Legoman - my golf is generally all over the place too, I call it getting my money's worth :) and exercise and I get to see the whole course, not just the fairways and greens ha ha ha - love it.

My Marvelous May is off to a mixed start: gained almost a pound, but lost 1 inch around the waist! Been stuck at the same waist measurement pretty much for 3 weeks, while losing weight! Now the reverse - too funny!

Otherwise weekend is off to a great start! May the forth be with all y'all!

Good work everyone!
How did your golf go Rhonda? Yeah we are the same then, but the good thing about our games is we get more walking in :-)

Hummingbird - how is your bank holiday going for you? We have not heard from you in a while :-)

So I will give yesterday's update now and then I will give today's tomorrow morning. So may the 4th went like this,
Had over three hours training in the morning from 11 to 2pm. Then had a nice lunch in. As it is a bank holiday weekend- I had a lovely Italian out and had a nice craft beer and then home. Yummy.

I hope team marvellous are keeping strong over a tough long weekend - keep up the good work!!

Oh by the way Debbiejgb that is funny.. But good news that you lost some of waist- keep us all posted on your progress :-)

Hello, hello :)

- I missed a *whole* day because the server was being upgraded, but now I'm back :)

I'm going to come clean straight off - I've eaten more food than I've burnt the past two days.... *but* I have succeeded in a) doing a whole looaadd of exercise (running, walking, dance rehearsals and shopping [this counts as exercise, right?] :p) and b) not buying any food that's actually bad for me :) - I used to be a pretty prolific buyer of chocolate/sweets/cakes/biscuits and this time last week I decided that I would just stop ever buying any of those things, plus crisps, chips, pizzas, desserts - anything that's not great for you.

I figure that 'life' tends to bring up opportunities for eating these things anyway - like going to see family or friends, or someone buying something yummy for the office - so I'll just enjoy them if/when they pop up, rather than actually going to the shops and sabotaging my efforts at living a healthy lifestyle.

SO I'm pleased that I've now gone an entire week without buying any 'rubbish' :) ... but I still managed to sabotage myself with a homemade rhubarb crumble :p maybe i should ban myself from baking :)

Tomorrow I start week three of Couch to 5k, which means upping my run intervals from 1.5mins at a time to 2.5 :s ... eek. I think I'll also go for a nice walk in the sun :)

I'll also be fasting tomorrow, which I'm really looking forward too :)

How are your weekends going?

I think all weekends should be 3 days :)

Had a great weekend. Ate out, and wouldn't you know, I picked one of the highest cal meals. But it tasted just great! Went to a band concert today, cooked a neat meal from a diabetic cookbook (Toasted Millet Salad with Salmon). It was wonderful and pretty reasonable in cals, so had my dark chocolate for dessert.

Fasting tomorrow and looking forward to it! Since most of you are starting ahead of me, happy fasting for those who are fasting!

*asks nicely* Please can I join team Marvellous?
Am usually reasonably active but am really in a rut just now and seriously becoming at one with the sofa! Know and want to get back into the exercising groove but completely lacking motivation.
Had a weigh in and measure in yesterday which was disappointing and have a plan of action. Reading the posts here is spurring me on.
It's getting very hot here so exercising outdoors isn't an option, in fact going out is tough. So it's back to re-aquainting myself to MadMax, my pet rowing machine.
I'll let you know (if you let me join...) :)

*Good morning Team Marvellous* :)

It's such a beautiful day here :) I've just been out for my run and survived the increase from 1.5 to 2.5 mins running at a time! ... that sounds pretty pathetic now I've seen it written down... but two weeks ago running was a completely foreign concept to me!

Janeg - we'd LOVE to have you in Team Marvellous, so... welcome! Whereabouts in the Middle East are you based? My Dad lived in Oman until about 5 years ago and anything between April and October was too hot for me!!

It's probably a bit daft, but, to me, it makes all the difference knowing that I can pop on here and hear how you're all doing. You're all really motivating me :) thank you!

Have a wonderful 5th of May :)

Thanks for the welcome Hummingbird- I jumped the gun and Mad Max and I got reaquainted this morning- boy it was tough! I think he's seized up a bit because he's not been exercising! But that's me restarted thanks to team Marvellous!
I'm in Dubai and it was 46C at 10am- granted in the sun but it's hard to get away from the thing! Love Oman- would go there in a flash!
My daughter was out in March and doing her couch to 5k in the morning and managing. Surprised me really and did well. Good on you getting the next bit of running time in. Such an achievement to go from 'what is this running thing?' to 2.5mins- that 180 secs!
Think you've lost a day too- maybe going so fast you're turning back time :D

Oops :) how did it get to the 6th of May already?!

I loved Oman too, I would definitely go back!

Well done on reacquainting yourself with Mad Max already!
