I try to Fast on a Monday, so I can second Fast on Wed or Thu. Keep weekends free. I work a shift pattern so it can be a little awkward for some days but I am working it out and it is getting easier.

I 5:2 for weight loss mainly. I have been doing this for the whole 2013.....

NEGATIVE - weight loss does not happen if I do not eat "clean" on Feast days - This maintains my weight if I eat "what I like and over indulge".

No exercise also slows down my weight loss - so a bad shift week results in no move on the scales but I know fasting is medically helping.

Dreams/insomnia for the last 3 weeks, I have had 2 good nights and I am thinking maybe my system is settling.

Cold, yes I feel a little chilled some days of the week.

Lethargy the day after a Fast... This was the first few weeks... seems to be settling.

Can I dare to say a positive???? Apart from 6kg loss, I am running better doing 5km without a walking break in the middle, breathing good, general feeling of wellbeing!

Thank you Angela x
hello this is my second fast day, but I noticed on my first one I had a headache at the end of the day whick I don't normally get, I hope I won't have one tonight, I feel great during day, some hours are more difficult than others, my body needs to get use to it. Good luck to the Fasters xxx Maggy
This is only my second week, so I've probably not got much to add...but
I am incredibly cold on a fast day, and find it hard to get warm, even in bed

The day after my first time fasting I was REALLY thirsty. I now conciously try to drink more on fast days, which helps.

I have had a couple of "dizzy spells", altho my blood pressure has been checked and is fine.

My bowel movements are different. I won't go into details. But they're different.

And while I don't really feel hungry on fast days, I do have an urge to EAT something. I want to have something with a good "mouth feel".

I've only lost 500g so far, but I'm hoping for a better loss when I weigh myself next Monday.
Hi all,
only on my second week of fasting, Mondays and Thursdays, so my 4th fast day. Only negative side effect I've had so far is a migraine the day after a fast day. I do suffer from migraines and it may be coincidence as I didn't have one after my first fast day. I will see tomorrow morning when I get up. However, I do believe the benefits will outweigh any negatives in the long run.

I'm still 'pigging out' on the day after a fast. I must have eaten (wait for it) 3000 cals yesterday. I did something similiar last week and still lost, but I get frustrated because I want so much to eat better and stick to within a 'normal' calorie intake. I've always been a binger, so it may take me longer to get used to this new WOE.

Is anyone else a binger and finding it difficult to stick within a healthy calorie count the day after a fast day? Am I being too picky?

Thanks for reading and forgive the rant.

I did the pig out thing yesterday BEFORE my fast day, I wasn't hungry, didn't want lunch but wanted to eat something. So after two bags of crisps and a cup of tea with cake, I felt better!! I know what you mean though, on non fast days I try to remind myself that I need to eat better everyday to get the best from the fast days. I think that most times I will eat normally on non fast days but will have the occasional binge so don't be too hard on yourself, we are changing habits of a lifetime, it won't happen overnight ;)

Like most people on here I have passed information around to family and friends. My sister-in-law bought the book and tried the diet out. She followed it to the letter and fasted using 500 cal. The next day she had the meanest migraine she has experienced. In the end we had to call a doctor and she had to come off the diet. Don't know if anyone else has had this but thought I would log it on here.

Hi jacquiann, I have experienced this, luckily I have medication which gets rid of the migraine pretty quick. I am fasting today so waiting to see if I get a migraine tomorrow, hope it was just a coincidence

Glad it isn't just me. I have had some "normal" calorie days when I have just eaten loads, way above the level I am "supposed" to eat on those days  . However sometimes after a fast I don't feel the need to overeat, but it does vary.

I think once I start eating I don't want to stop some days. I'm sure I read somewhere that you should wait 20 mins after a meal before deciding whether to have "more" or something else - that gives time for your stomach to register it has food inside and that you are full (I think).
Looking back over my daily logs there is a pattern of inadvertant over-eating the day after a fast, dropping down over subsequent days. Purely subconscious as I try to stick to around 1500 cals on feed days. I hope this will stop soon!
Hi. I've been doing the Fast Diet for 13 days and have found it really easy. I'd like to know if anyone has experienced mood swings whilst on it. For the first 11 days I felt great and sometimes felt on a high but yesterday afternoon I felt really low and today was even worse, almost to the point of wanting to cry for no reason. I bought a bag of Haribo and ate 1/2 the bag and within an hour felt 'normal' again and still feel fine. I've lost 8 pounds so far and wonder if I'm overdoing it. I've completely changed my eating habits and cut out lots of crap and ready meals. Thanks.

Hi Suzy56, I have fasted a few times and get a migraine the day after. This is really frustrating as I feel this is a diet I could really stick with. Have you read Carorees explanation as to why this may be happening? It's understandable that our blood sugar will drop but perhaps it will take a short time for my body to switch to using fat reserves for energy. I don't think my body has done that for a while as I was advised to eat every three hours to prevent migraine. Well it helps prevent migraine but I'm now 2 stone over weight! I had stopped fasting but from the explanation I have read it seems my body should get used to using the fat reserves, then the ketones will help the migraines. I'll give it another go and pay attention to my fluids and spread the calories over three meals.
I'll be interested to hear how you, and other migraine sufferers, are manageing with fasting.
This is my 5th week. I have found like somebody earlier that I do tend to eat too much after a fast day. Also, I have developed some teenage type spots on my shoulders!!

Bri
My nearest and dearest have intimated that I tend to resemble a bad-tempered crocodile by 4pm on a fast day. I suspect drinking black coffee may have not helped so will try to have calming camomile tomorrow and see if things improve! :-@
Hi london5:2. The person to speak to re your reaction is Carorees. she's very informative & helpful. I can definitely identify with your symptoms but for me, it was before I started out on the 5:2 WOE. I posted my concerns in a 'Blood 'Sugar' thread. Had you eaten high GI foods earlier that day? White bread for example or anything sugary (particularly foods with hidden sugars) sounds like you had a blood sugar crash. Your body will adapt and this WOE is fantastic for controlling how your body deals with insulin. I'm not a pro on this but I used to know to avoid sugar, but never realised it was the sarnie at lunch that my body couldn't cope with either. Hope this helps but do PM Carorees.
Yes, blood sugar levels can affect mood. Some get grumpy but tearfulness can also occur. It should get better once your body learns to burn fat!
Thankyou Claire007 and carorees. It was the day after my fast and looking back at what I've been eating I'd not been having much sugar for a few days. At least for the first time in 5 years I'm below 100kgs (99.8kgs). I'll up my sugar intake.
