Had an "interesting experience" yesterday. One of my choirs performed Carmina Burana at the Melbourne Recital Centre. Very posh and a full house. However it didn't go exactly as planned. Halfway through the morning rehearsal our conductor fainted and fell off the podium,. After a short break, the rehearsal continued but she had another turn at lunch time and the paramedics carted her off to the Epworth Hospital. Eeek!
Luckily when she first went down, the call went out for a stand-in conductor who rushed in from an outer suburb. We had a ten minute session with him and the concert started 10 mins late. However, it went remarkably well, with just the occasional untidiness. Everyone was watching like a hawk. We didn't want to let our conductor down after all her hard work. We got a marvelous ovation at the end which was lovely.
Absolutely wrung out though. Haven't heard any more news about her health. Hope she's all right.
