@SianS I missed your post, It isn't easy is it, having kids. They don't come with an instruction manual. At every point in their lives there's tears of sadness and joy. I have a pressure point which stops the tears. The middle bit above your top lip, below nose. I saw it on some tv prog or other and it works for me. Just press hardish, not enough to mark yourself. Thing is I've told so many people now that they know when I'm trying to stop my tears.
Anyhow, great things lie ahead for your son. Be proud, be very proud.

Tho i understand yr frustration..but remember also,how quickly these things can change for the better..our bodies are so capricious!

I have made this thread "sticky" so it stays at the top of the non-diet chat board...just look for it there even if it's not on your list of unread posts.

Hello there all our American friends...i just love American accents!
Earlier today i walked behind two American tourists,trying to decide where they wanted to go to have lunch! I could have shadowed them all day just to hear their voices!
Anyway,on i went,to M n S foodhall..yes,on a fast day....how strong is that....very tempting but just told myself the T word..T for tomorrow!
Bought what my American friend@MountainMyst would call " the fixins" for a picnic tomorrow...yes i am being optimistic it will be picnic weather
Also bought teacakes to toast for brekkie...not many here will know Sayers Bakery?
Probably Cally@Callyanna and maybe @PennyForthem..theirteacakes are the best in the world.

I have decided I need to get reading glasses and ordinary specs for my shortsightedness. These varifocals are killing my neck. Those of you with varifocals will understand. Normally with varifocals the reading bit is at the bottom of the lens and all you do is look down, fairly naturally as if you are reading or typing. But when looking at the screen you have to tilt your head backward so that you are looking through the bottom of the lenses. Its killing my neck to use the PC, or I have to take the glasses off and sit hunched forward peering at the screen. Its not doing my posture any good at all.

Don't blame you @julieathome. I went to my usual opticians but saw someone I hadn't seen before who sold me varifocals, he made them seem a really good idea. They may have been for him, for me they are awful. They cost a fortune and I couldn't get any refund for a mis-sell , as I only need them for reading/work I'll put up with them until I can afford to change them. Think I'll also change my optician!
