American here! From upstate NY but moved to NJ after I got married. Now we are living in the Middle East for a few years for my husband's work. I just joined this group yesterday after reading about the 5:2 diet in the New York Times. Excited to start the diet on Saturday!

Welcome Zahra! How exciting that you get to be an expat for a while! I would love for my hubby to get transferred out of the country for a bit (finger crossed) - it would really broaden our horizons
Born, raised in New Jersey, and now raising my own family now in NJ. Work in NYC. Found this on Google by accident when I was looking for a diet to go on after losing 23 lbs. on Atkins. I know Atkins is not a sustainable diet so I wanted to get off of it. I've been on the 5:2 since Monday and I'm really happy with it. Much easier than the Atkins...
Oh I agree completely. I love knowing I can have **** tomorrow
I'm an American living in Fort Myers Florida. I love Brits and am delighted to be in the company of so many!
Welcome! I'm a bit of an anglophile myself too
Yes. My husband and I live in New Mexico, US. Tomorrow is my second fast day. I enjoyed how I felt on my fast day. I think it's key to not overdo on feast days.
MCG7, where you at in NJ? My husband is from Cherry Hill area.
I started reading about the 5:2 diet and it seemed reasonable. There were alot of people with great success stories, so here we are. Lets all be success stories.

Waving hi from North Dakota! Just did my 3rd fast. Today I was going to run and The Fast Diet to read only to discover evidently no where here carries it, so guess I'll be ordering it off the internet.
Hi and welcome!
Yes, Tracie you are not alone! I'm an American living in Los Angeles. This is my first week on the plan. I've done 2 fast days so far (Monday and Wednesday) without terrible difficulty. I'd like to lose 20 lbs., plus enjoy the other health benefits associated with it. I found out about 5:2 just a couple weeks ago from a friend who forwarded me the Dr. Mosley documentary. I'm struggling with the "feast days" to not over-do it. During the daytime, I'm fine. It's the nighttime tv/snacking that gets me. I am walking 45 minutes or more (brisk pace) on my feast days. My new discovery: chewing ice cubes while watching tv to take the place of food. What things have you learned in the plan so far? Welcome!
Yo! Boston here. I've been on the 5:2 diet for five weeks and counting. Still trying to get comfortable with the fast days. (I get really hungry!)
Minnesota here Just finishing my 2nd week (yesterday was my 4th fast). Although I haven't lost anything yet, I'm betting everything I've got on this WOE It's encouraging to see this work for everyone, so my fingers are crossed!
Yay! Welcome guys
Oh, ice cubes are a good idea!
Rufus, when I'm really hungry, I have bouillon. I haven't needed any in the past few weeks, because it seems to have gotten a bit easier for me. I don't eat at all until 6pm. Eating earlier just makes me hungry all day. I have black coffee, water or herbal tea all through the day. I especially like the celestial seasonings true blueberry and peach harvest

I'm from the Detroit area. Just started out, but I'm feeling great!
