@Bobshouse so sorry to hear more of your situation. It does sound very Catch 22, but sadly also it sounds all too normal re your experience with GP and with the social worker. All I can do is sympathise and wish you luck, sending you good vibes and the strength to keep at 'em.
As for 5:2 - am sure you are right there as well. Back to basics is good.

Thank you! New day tomorrow!
I should give complaining to the practice manager (even if she is his wife) a go - they have a duty of care and should not be biased (though the cynic in me thinks how likely is that) but at least they will know you are unhappy. Is there only the one GP in your dad's practice? Not been much help sorry but hope things improve for you soon.
What a good thread.
Hi everyone. I still pop in from time to time but I started a new job last autumn and it has been stressful with long hours so I don't have the time to linger on here. To be honest the new forum format also put me off for a while but I've got used to it.
I have regained 14 of the 35 pounds that I lost last year - this was due to a return to bad habits while feeling very stressed. I have managed to remain stable for the last two months which I'm pleased about, so now I just have to get back to 5:2 to shift the extra pounds. It worked well for me so I know I can do it again. Things have improved at work so my stress levels have reduced which will help.
I will try to post more often as the forum is a great resource and support and so I feel it is important to contribute as it may help others.

Good luck @Bobshouse with sorting out your dad its such a terrible disease and heartbreaking for you to deal with, my thoughts and prayers go to you all
I've been AWOL myself for a week and only just coming through a bad bout of bronchitis and throat infection
But its so lovely that Dee's thread has bought out a few familiar names back to say hello @GMH so good to hear you still take a peep now and then and doing ok
@windsinger123 time to pull your socks up and find a way to maintain as you've also done great so far.
Welcome back to all lurkers and AWOL ers

Oh it's so lovely to see familiar old faces on here! I've bean naughty myself and ever since my holiday back in June I just haven't bean able to get back into the way of fasting...and as a result I can feel the weight piling back in
It seems that the new style forum has made a big impact on falling numbers...I know I have found it more "tricky" than before. Hey ho!
I know I must get back to fasting before I put it all back on...although I suspect it may be too late...doh!

Hi @Sue.Q I didn't realize you'd been away as I was away at same time. Sorry to hear you've been ill, hope you're feeling much better now.
@nursebean I always find it really difficult to get back in to fasting after time off, after the first few fast are out of the way things seem to get easier and I get my mojo back. I don't know how many times you've had time off before and had to get back on it, I seem to do it too often and now know the first few fast are the most challenging for me. First fast tomorrow for me after a week off, are you in? we'll tough it out together on the fasting today thread. Good luck

Hmm that's very tempting @Justdee I think I may join you. I'll try anyway!
Good luck to you

Lovely to see @GMH back on here. You have been missed as you have been a fantastic contributor yourself. Who will ever forget 'camel' posts. Please keep your hand in here with us
@Bobshouse you sound like you are a wonderful advocate for your dad. Sadly I think in this day and age we need to do that for our family friends neighbours we care about and any vulnerable people in our community who need some one to step up and speak up for with systems.
I have been on forum less of late busy with work commitments and was also away on a much needed break. Happy to say I maintained. But am back on the IF wagon. I don't mind the variations to the IF theme as it gives me lots of fasting options.

@gillymary I have forgotten camel post! Remind me

Well, in past days, we would have had our parents living in our houses. And they wouldn't have lived to get so old and sick. We do have to be their advocates but I am so grateful that there was a nursing home who could look after my mum for those last 6 years. It wasn't perfect but it was such a relief to know that her basic needs were met and it wasn't me who had to do it. Thank God there are 'systems'.
I'm one of the 'older' members. I look at the forum almost every day ( although I have just come back from 9 days in Menorca where wi fi was tricky so I didn't bother) I also find it difficult to join into conversations as I don't feel like one of the inner circle. I have always done simple 5.2 except when I have been on holiday .I have never 'failed' a fast because I find the freedom the other 5 days gives me means I stick it out on the other 2. My weight loss has been slow . My holidays show up on my tracker but when I am on plan I can still lose. I have a large garden which occupies a lot of my spare time in the summer which means less time on the internet.
Your progress graph is very impressive,@lil. I wish you would post more. The 'inner circle' is only people who post a lot. It's not an exclusive club. The more people post, the great diversity of attitudes and fasting styles, the richer the forum for all of us.
