FitBit Chat for January 2014
01 Jan 2014, 08:55
I expect to see a whole passel of resolutions on this post pledging well balanced feedings to our FitBits. Bring them on!

On a personal note, even though the last few weeks have been light in the step department, I did cross the 3,000,000 step marker this week since I began in April. That's a whole lot of tread worn off my shoes:)

Wishing everyone a successful and step lively year!
YooHoo everyone...did you take your fitbit for a walk today to celebrate the new year?
Hi GoLinda! It's been slower progress than I should have been making, but I'm up to a daily goal of 10K steps now. I was a bit of a sloth back in October when I got my fitbit. I take one day off a month for cramps, but otherwise I'm pretty faithful. It helps to have my husband "friended" on fitbit. I don't want to let him down by seeing a low step count.

We haven't been behaving at all diet-wise for the past couple of weeks -- too many parties and too much visiting family. And he's had a few days where he worked too many hours at his desk to get his steps in. :-( But that's over, and no excuses now!
I totally did, clocked up my record on New Years Day, 30,000. Woohoo, great start to the year!

I don't bother with new year resolutions, but I'll just keep going with my new habits I've started since a year ago: fasting and increase in walking and adding another sport and keeping going with old sport and adding HIIT sessions. Little habit changes, gradually over the year, seems to be the way to go. Not my natural impulse, I'm more of a jump in feet first, go hell for leather, then get distracted and forget to keep going with new habit. Just keep reminding myself Slow and Steady wins the race :D
Hello :) I've just ordered myself a FitBit One in the hope that it will motivate me to be more active.

How long have you guys had yours? Do you find it helps keep you motivated? Reviews seem pretty good so hoping that I'll be able to remember to wear/use it!
Hiya everyone, and welcome to our new Fitbitters.
I have been slowly increasing my steps, not a conscious decision, just getting over the op and able to do more.
Bought my hubs a zip for Xmas, and we are now friends, he has a desk job, so he's doing roughly same steps as me still stuck at home.
I got a badge the other day, but can't for the life of me recall what it was!

So am looking forward to upping my activity as and when I am able.

Happy stepping everyone.

Got my one in the summer and I don't get out of bed without it. Yes it's a motivator and we have a 5.2 group on the fitbit website which you can join. Started with a goal of 10k steps a day which is very achievable and the British Hear foundation recommendation. You can sync it with my fitness pal and many many other apps/sites. It's very simple to set up and use, so you'll be off as soon as it arrives.
Any other probs, queries just bring them here, this is where we communicate on all fitbit matters, not the site, unless the forum is down, which isn't very often.
Happy fitbitting cat!
I got a fitbit One for Christmas and I'm in love with it already though I am struggling to reach my week day target of 5000 steps; I work from home for the most part or I'm traveling for business so opportunities to walk are limited especially when I'm on the road

It's also been snowing here (Boston) this past 24 hours and I haven't ventured out in the cold so I only clocked 1500 steps yesterday

My intention for 2014 is to go for a lunchtime walk every day, come rain or come shine, to get to the 5,000. Weekends are so much easier, I can easily get to 10,000. Lets see how this goes! :like: :victory:

Thanks @carieoates for directing me to the 5:2 group on fitbit; see you there.
I got my fitbit one in mid-October. I was supposed to go up 500 steps a week but there were quite a few weeks I didn't - so this is my first week at 10K steps/day.

I do love it. It's the first time I've really stuck to an exercise plan
Slowly building up my steps again after December. Jan 1 was a bust - woke up late, ate a lazy lunch with friends, watched a movie - Catching Fire (I enjoyed it). Back home and watched football! So, now it is up and at 'em time and I will do it!

Take Care all and Happy New Year!
Well I am back after a couple months of flat out work which pushed this WOE and WOL to the side.

Got my fitbit recharged and ready to go then looked at the leader board and Gulped! There's some serious competition out there these days!

I am also looking at starting to try out some HIIT Routines so that wont add huge amounts of steps but will hopefully increase my fitness and may be more beneficial due to the type of work I am in.

Going to try and get back up to weekly averages of 10k per day though if I can.
Yep, there are some heavy hitters out there now. Now you just have to hope to stay in the same company as those around you...and of course challenge yourself.

Cold weather is really making it hard to get steps.
Could I get added to the Fitbit group please? Who do I need to send my email addy to?
You can send me a PM and I will send you an invite from the fitbit group.

I also try and get a few sessions of HIT in a week, just short tabata style ones. Seems to suit me excellently, along with the walking and skating. What work do you do? Is your avatar a clue?
