HELP - my fitbit synched an hour ago, and not since then. The battery is still 2/3 full. It's sitting right next to the dongle right now. I'm getting quite attached to the thing, and I HATE technical problems.

I've checked the site help pages, and there doesn't seem to be a way to force it to synch.
Thanks everyone, I'll try all suggestions.

Never mind. It seems to be okay now. I removed the dongle and replugged it. Maybe that did it. But shouldn't there be a way to make it synch??

There was a problem with the central FitBit server that just got fixed a few minutes ago.
About every six weeks or so my fitbit won't sync. This is pretty common and it entails you "totally" closing the FitBit App down and relaunching it. Clears it right up and is a common occurence which causes initial panic at the thought of losing steps:)
I've been sat at my desk for the last hour working and I synced my fitbit, which shows "moderate activity" in that entire hour, throwing off the number of steps and calories burned

Has anyone else experienced this kind of thing? activity logged when there wasn't any?

Is it possible that interference from some other electrical signal have caused it to think I was moving? so frustrating

Any thoughts/suggestions welcome.

Thanks!

An after thought - the activity level is uniform over the hour which isn't usually the case when you're really walking; sometimes you slow down sometimes you speed up. Just thought its worth adding this
Ignore my question, I figured it out. I added my morning workout to MFP which were logged to have started this past hour, accounting for the spike!

I thought I was seeing things
Hi everyone. Hope you are doing well. I went on to our group page yesterday and there are 41 members yippee :) Hi and welcome to all the new members :)I've come on to enter my stats today. I'm still maintaining which I put down to a large part to my steps everyday as well as doing a loose form of Maintenence ADF (1000 cals on those days).

My friend who initially got me my first fitbit is visiting from the States next month and she said she is bringing me a Force as a late Xmas prezzie!! I'm so excited and can't wait to try it. I think I might wear that and my one for the first week or so to see how they compare and then will probably sell on the one.

Does anyone have the force yet. If so, what do you think about it?

Well I'm off to read back on all the posts on this thread that I need to catch up on.

Happy stepping everyone :)
32 on the leaderboards... oh dear :-(

Well the new treadmill should arrive this week and then you all better look out haha
Exciting news about the treadmill :) I wonder if it will log steps in the same way? When I'm on an elliptical it doesn't seem to but I think a treadmill is more like regular walking and running. Good luck :)
My boss has the force and the band just broke on it...about six months old. I think I read somewhere that is one downfall. I guess it gets a lot of wear and tear on the wrist.

Logged my first decent walk in days...8 miles...only had to navigate a few snow piles. The dogs were elated to get out. Looking forward to getting back in to the swing of things both 5:2 and feeding my trusty little FitBit!

I think the reason elliptical's don't log steps as well is because its quite a smooth action rather than the jolt of a step. Its the same as if you go to the beach quite often you wont get many steps logged cause the sand absorbs the impact and the fitbit just doesn't pick up the jolt.

For an elliptical or a stationary bike or something like that, try putting the FitBit sensor on your ankle or your shoe. This usually will fix the problem of a lot of steps with no credit. :-)
Good thinking there BruceE! Makes sense as there will be far more movement there than at the hip or breast.
I can tell you that the fitbit definitely registers treadmill steps - which is great, since we're up for some sweltering weather this week (almost every day up to 40 degrees) so I'll be heading to the air-conditioned gym after work to get my steps in!
