Hi All,

I haven't been chatting much but I do check the Leaderboard with embarrassing regularity. I had a lazy day yesterday and as a result have fallen to 16th

Ballerina, I have the Zip (the cheapest Fitbit) which doesn't do the sleep monitoring so I can't comment on that part, but counting steps can be addictive (see above). I broke a tiny bit of plastic replacing the battery recently so the battery compartment is held on with sellotape, if this fails I will certainly get the One.

Annurca, you made me laugh "feeding Fitbit"
@Ballerina, I have the fitbit One and love it! It monitors my sleep and as suspected, I sleep really really good .. for most of the night. I can even tell what time someone parked their car with the car and radio boom boom booming (why do they take soooo long to park :O ?) Do join in with the fun of keeping Fitbit fed. ;)
It's lovely to see so many new faces on the leaderboard. I think the highest I've ever got is 5th on the active points bit. I am now exercising every day, that's a lot you might say but I've only added in the couch to 5k (3days a week) on my old rest days, but do not log them on my fitness pal as am relying on my fitbit to sort it out for me. But probably once a fortnight a may skip something, as I'm not totally crazy, just 98%.
I need to figure out how to wear my flex while I do roller derby - even if just the endurance training rather than the games. The wrist guards get in the way. Maybe I can put it down my bra? So had to manually enter skating, and it doesn't do steps, so I only just made my 12,000 yesterday. Bahaha, see, that's just silly thinking - I know I did 2 hours hard skating but still want my fitbit to tell me Yay you've done it!
Ok, Hubby had some overtime, so we bought the fitbit scale (aria) and he's getting a bonus, so we're going to buy the flex bands too. He really wanted the wifi scale first though.

I'm having trouble choosing between the band (can't forget to wear it) and the One (has an altimeter, counts stairs). Any strong suggestions one way or the other? I have a step tracker right now that I can't seem to remember to put on until the day is half way done, so I suppose I should just go for the band.
I love my One. I am in the habit of transfering it from my bra to my sleep top and vice versa. If you like instant feedback, the One will always show the information. I believe with the Flex, you have to sync and view the information on your computer/phone.

Correct me if I'm wrong anyone...
Agreed @GoLinda, @Tracieknits, The convience of the flex is that there isn't much reason to take it off, but I really like the step counter (though I don't have any floors at home to count), the instant feed back by just glancing at it and the sleep monitor. Tracie, once you pay the higher amount of money for any fitbit, you'll NOT want to ever forget it! It's up to you. Way back when a few years ago, I thought it ridiculous to spend that kind of money on a pedimeter so for that reason I make damn sure I have it with me at all times and when for some reason you leave it your robe after a shower (yes, you transfer it from clothing to clothing never leaving it alone, gotta keep fitbit fed right @Annurca?, lol), you lament the steps you took whilst it rested,

Oh, I love my fitbit One
I believe you have that right, Go Linda. The other thing that I have heard mentioned frequently is that the Flex picks up typing as steps. If you do a lot of typing that is something to consider. The Flex display doesn't show your step count which I don't think I would like; but both my One and the Fitbit Ultra I had before that had the step display. So, I haven't ever had one without to compare it to.
Thanks guys!!
I was torn for ages Tracie, took me months to decided - but in the end I went a Flex and I just LOVE it. So easy and convenient and unforgettable. I've also lost an alarming amount of (cheap) clip on pedometers, which scared me off the One. The step counter would be awesome though. And I do need to find a way to use the Flex while on skates.

My ideal would actually be the size of the flex, with a built in GPS so could plot routes (cos I'm a total map nerd), and able to tell whether I'm walking, on my bike or skates. Sure it won't be long before such a product exists :8
I've got a flex and I find the read outs very interesting. It was good to see what it thought my TDEE was. Although it shows sleep data on how long it took you to get to sleep, how restless you were, unless I'm doing something wrong, it doesn't say you were looking at the alarm clock for two hours last night and not sleeping. Sometimes I can't get it to record sleep either.

Agree with the arm movement for typing as I take mine off when I am knitting so it doesn't record steps.
Oh so true about the sleep info being dodgy - it works with movement, so doesn't pick up that you're in bed but not actually sleeping.
We got our Fitbit Aria scale today and I set it up easily. Tomorrow should show a big loss as I weighed myself in my clothes today -- but I have painters in my house and I wasn't going to give them a free show ;-)

So I went on the website, trying to decide between the flex and one, when I saw the fitbit FORCE is now out. It's the best of both worlds, no choosing between an altimeter and better screen *or* a band. It has it all.

It ships in 3-4 weeks, so I'm ordering it. :-)
Hi everyone,

Had a good week back on track - lost 2.5lbs and averaging 20,000+ steps a day thanks to the puppy who is doing well even with dodgy hips  He is still having 3 walks a day 45-60 mins, and then I have a little dog as well who also needs 2 walks, so plenty of walking for me.......although not much of anything else........housework has taken a back seat !!!

@katamac - he will probably get arthritis early, probably by the time he is 6-7 yrs old, but if they get really bad he may need hip replacements, so I had better get saving.

Debbie
Left my fitbit at home again. Not been a fab week for me. Another numpty moment to add to the collection.
