Go Simon. ☺ I fear my sub 25 is some way off still. Maybe in the summer.

We did our local parkrun today for the first time in ages, 27:26 for me and 29:03 for MrsPete. Definitely a better run for me but last week's course must have been short as only 5 seconds improvement - and I was trying hard, lungs being the limiting factor. Still miles behind the missus in percentage terms...
Nice Pete, your progress is fantastic.
Our parkrun was super muddy and slippery. Near the end I felt something go pop in my lower calf and limped home.
luckily it already feels a bit better. Let's see in the morning.

So had 10 days off running for tendonitis which really put a spanner in the works for marathon training. I restarted running on Friday and did a 10k race today, without forcing too much and still managed a reasonable time (47m40s, usually I'm around 46). It just goes to show that even with 10 days off training you don't lose that much fitness which was really encouraging as injuries can and do happen especially when you are doing a lot of training. My knee is still a bit sore but much better with the electroshock treatment from the physio. Marathon in Rome in 5 weeks, so I hope I can get back to proper training now.
recently, i started running every other day, it's part of my diet. And it feels good
I miss running so much! Damned plantar fasciitis is showing no signs of getting better. I might start running anyway. Swimming has been fun, but it's not the same. I want to sweat!!
(((@MaryAnn))) I'm so sorry you are still unable to run. I don't like swimming much because it isn't outdoors and exploring - but at least you are finding a way to keep fit. My knee still hurts a little but I just live with it.
HM tomorrow, I think it will be very wet and muddy, but I'm quite looking forward to it as I haven't done more than 10k races since September. Then Rome marathon in 3 weeks....
@YourTypicalGuyinRed Welcome to the running club! How far do you run each day? Don't forget that rest days are important too, to give your muscles time to repair.

Managed 1H44 for my HM, not personal best but the course wasn't that easy, and coming out of tendonitis I was quite pleased that my knee held up. I hope everyone had some good races this weekend, despite the weather!
Well done Susan, that is a good performance in the circumstances! I managed to get my parkrun time down to 26:34 a week ago courtesy of a course which only measured 3 miles rather than 5k, and ran 27:26 this weekend on a proper 5k after starting from the back of the field which felt good as for once I was passing people instead of being passed by most of them!
Thanks and well done on your 5k @CreakyPete. Your moral must be much better, it is much better to be overtaking than being overtaken.
I even managed a podium with my HM, 3rd Veteran 2 woman. I was 16th woman out of 142 women runners so it wasn't too bad. Just need to sort my arms out. The flap around uselessly most of the time and I know I'd be faster if I used them more. This photo from the race demonstrates the problem. I must do some arm exercises!

You could teach others how to flap their arms and fly so that they can be in the top 11% !
We now have a new local parkrun in Watford, so I'll be joining you some Saturdays!
I have hurt my knee and not sure how. Manged 15 minutes this morning of slow jogging before it jarred with a pain. I walked back home slowly and have put a support bandage on it. It feels okish now. Anything else I should be doing?
RICE = the 4 elements used to treat soft tissue injuries which is an acronym for Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. If it doesn't get better (or gets noticeably worse), see a doctor.
A general rule for the next time out is that - if it gets better (after the initial warm up aches, of course), you may continue but only for a total distance less than you've worked up to before the injury. If it seems to get worse STOP and get it checked out.

After missing parkrun last Saturday due to walking 21 miles around Derbyshire, back in harness today at our home (full distance) run. 25:48 for me, the best post-op so far, and 27:28 for MrsPete which is very close to her PB. Both of us pleased simultaneously for once!
