I've got the shred too but didn't put enough effort in to it - I don't mind a good work out but I can't for the life of me do push ups - not even one! - so when they cropped up in week 1 I was cross and didn't get past day 3! What a cop out! I really need to get back into it. I must, I must, I must!

in level 2, she says if you can't do push ups, you can just plank for a moment instead - the first strength exercise is some badass move called walking pushups. I got through the first 7 days of level 1 doing the easier modified pushups. I can do about 5 proper ones now. It builds up your arm strength a lot.
I'll give it a go. I'll be pushing up til my heart's content before I know it! Cheers imcountingufoz!
For everyone out there working through 30DS. I've finished it, gone on to Ripped in 30, followed by 6 Week 6 Pack and started the cycle on 30DS again.
I am a huge Jillian Michaels fan.
The best advice I can give you is keep going, even if you can't do the moves perfectly, do them as best you can and you'll improve even if only very slowly. Frankly some of the moves are so intense, doing them at even half-pace will still do a lot of good.
'I'm not asking you to be a superhero'
'Perfect is boring, just give me all you've got'
To quote Jillian from Ripped in 30.
I have been doing it while doing 5:2 and although I maybe have a little less energy the morning after a fast day than I do the morning after a non-fast day, I figure if I give it my all I'm still doing the best I can even if my all is slightly less energetic. For me the best ting about 30DS (and her others) is that I don't get bored during them.
If you're thinking about doing it, go for it and good luck.
I've lost about 37lbs in just over a year.
(Please ignore what my bmi is stated as. It's actually around 25.5, I just wasn't paying attention when I first registered on this sight and managed to enter myself as over 6ft tall and over 78 stone. Ooops.)

Skykitty - if you send a PM to Moogie she can sort out your initial tracker stats for you.
Hi sky kitty, been doing 30 day shred for a while , I like the results but still need toning up , after reading your post I will try ripped in 30 DVD, wish me luck
I am in day 8 of the 30 days and am already having results. Fasting alone did not do it for me. The first week of 5:2 I lost 2 kilo's and they came back in the second week.
Since I have started the 30 DS my weight is going down and my trousers are not tight any more. Hope it will go on like that.
I never believed fitness DVD's that promised huge results, but this seems to work for me.

I've have done the Shred, but I do 4 days/week a program called Bar Method, which incorporates periods of high intensity barre work alternating with deep stretching and body-weight strength moves. I mentioned on an earlier post today that my progress has been slow (not much to lose), with wobbling back & forth a few lbs. I think that's due to muscle growth because I've seen a real difference in my shape and muscle tone. Plus, I've finally (after close to 8 weeks)broke a weight barrier and am just a lb. or 2 away from my goal.
Oops! I HAVEN'T done the Shred....
I'm thinking of doing the shred!
My goal was to lose a stone by August when I go on holiday, but my boyfriend's family have invited me on holiday mid-June so now I have a more immediate goal. Not aiming for a stone but want to be half way there and slimmer/toned for the holiday, so I think I'll take this up...
Worried, but I do Taekwondo and Horseriding and go to the gym most weeks as well. Hopefully it will push me to my limits but won't be un-doable.
And whoever said it was on Youtube is my lifesaver- poor student trying to slim down here, very grateful!

Level 1 and 3 are on YouTube, level 2 is on Vimeo. You WILL see results with the shred, take 1-2 rest days per week, and be aware it's hard on the knees. And you need hand weights, but they don't have to be heavy, just so they give you some resistance.

No idea what Vimeo is, but thank you for letting me know!
And thank you for the advice, especially about rest days. I found a Before-And-After thread on MyFitnessPal.com and have been totally inspired by people's pictures. And most said that you can use cans of beans or soup as weights if you can't afford them to begin with?
I'm doing this too after seeing this thread - really hard but getting better at it surprisingly quickly. Does anybody know what weight dumbbells are recommended as it doesn't specify as far as i can see and there is quite a selection available at sports direct!
The trainers on the vid are using 5lbs. I googled it! The site I was on suggested 3lbs if you're not used to working with weights. That's still quite heavy! Eyes up the small ater bottles - 500g / just over a pound...
I'm doing it too! Day 6 here - haven't taken new measurements yet. I take weekends off and once the 30 days are up I plan to do it again, alternating days with couch to 5k too. At the moment I use, um, tins of tomatoes(!) for weights but I think I'll invest in some proper ones. It's only been 6 days but I am improving, and definitely feel much more solid in my core - plus the walk up the hill to my house doesn't make me wheeze unattractively anymore, which is a definite bonus.
