Getting Sweaty! Exercise & Fitness

88 posts Page 1 of 6
Hello!

I'm currently on day 7 of the 30 day shred, which is a high intensity workout of circuit training which runs for 30 days. I've been doing the 5:2 for a while now and don't feel like I'm overdoing it by still exercising on fast days.

This week I haven't lost any weight at all, but have lost inches from my waist, thighs, hips and arms, which I am attributing to the Shred.

Has anyone else done the 30 day shred whilst on 5:2? And if so, did you find the weight loss stopped whilst you gained muscle? Just curious, really. Not too bothered as muscle weighs more than fat, and I'd rather stay at my current weight (or lose really really slowly) if it meant I was becoming leaner.

God, what a ramble, sorry about that!

TIA!
Hi! I'm currently on day 5 of the shred and my weigh in day is on Monday, so I'll definitely let you know them if I lose any weight or/and inches :)
But from the shred reviews I've found that the only people that really lose substantial weight and inches are the ones that combine the shred with cardio and a healthy diet, so I'm planning to add some cardio (15-20 min) to my routine from next week.
I'd be surprised if you didn't see inch loss! Jillian really does deliver results!

Do you find you can recite bits of it yet? "these abs don't come for free" "your neck isn't invited to this party"
I'm counting on the shred to lose inches :)
Haha, I can surely recite some bits now!
I saw the level 2 video the other day and it seems really difficult!
Have you seen it yet?
Nope, I am too scared to look! :)
I haven't looked at the shred but have read and heard about it -scary stuff! For a long time, I have exercised faithfully, different types, flavours intensities etc and am reasonably fit. And I got heavier and heavier. I knew there was muscle below the flab, it just wasn't visible. Exercising like a demon with careful eating only got me fitter. Then I was told that it is 80% diet and 20% exercise that is the key. I have been not very good at exercise recently and am seeing a difference with 5:2- I've got abs! Knew they were there!
So....
You will increase weight slightly as muscle weighs more
You will improve your fitness and get all the lovely benefits of that
You will shape up and tone up and lose the flabby bits and be beautifully sculpted
And
You will lose weight on 5:2 and keep it off
You are most definitely onto a winner
Now where's that blasted shape tape so I can be shamed /inspired into exercising again ;)
Idid the shred in jan and it helped me loose inches. I've gone from a 37" waist to 33"
I've also lost 18lb so both together have worked well. Still like to loose 6lb more.

I've not shredded for about six weeks now just swimming once a week to keep toned but I've bought a ten min ab DVD that I'm starting next week as my tummy still needs toning. I'm satisfied with most other bits. Hoping to get that last inch or two off my waist.

Good to know that it works so well, thanks :)

It took me years to realise that! I used to exercise regularly for years but was never my ideal weight as I used to eat large portions of fast food
But 5:2 combined with exercise should get me good results, thanks for your advice :like:
I'm going to start the Shred tomorrow. I don't really mind about the weight loss, as long as cms come off and muscles show as the fat goes
I do have a shoulder tendon injury which is nearly better, so as long as that doesn't interfere too much, it should be all good.
Hello I did the shred a couple of years ago - it's no picnic lol! I found level 2 to be my favourite of the three - once I'd done the 30 days I went back to level 2 a few times a week - its all slipped now though, I have had a shoulder injury for the last four months though (how long can I use that excuse for!?).

Keep up the good work, the results speak for themselves xx
Hi guys!

Just wanted to check in to see if you made it to the end of 30DS?!

I'm only on day two and it would be great to hear how your attempts went!

Cheers!

I enjoyed Shred, but doing the same exercise daily isn't really that good for muscles - they need the day off inbetween. So I've been mixing Shred in with HIIT (I do tabata style, so only 4 minutes) and my usual walking and skating. It's a good workout though, works a lot in a short space of time.
I'm LOVING the shred. I'm on day 17. Its the most effective workout I've ever done.
Thanks for your responses!
My quads are def hurting today after my 2nd shred yesterday!
Think I'll give it a miss for today and head to the gym this afternoon instead for an hour or so of cardio and 30-45mins of weights.
I don't think I'll shred every day, as I tend to get bored easily. I thought I'd throw it in the mix 4 days a week or so, as I'm trying to get to the gym at least 3 days a week too.
Here's hoping I can actually get into a routine!
Best of luck!
