Getting Sweaty! Exercise & Fitness

Nice one Beeswax- I've just done day 6 too. I've missed 2 days but plan to keep going. Today I added in the weight bottles and managed full press ups for both sets. Quite pleased. I haven't measured yet- will wait until the usual measuring day first Sunday in June. Had a wee giggle at the loss of your wheeze :D
Honestly, if I come up behind you I sound like a dying dog. Many an old biddy has turned round in alarm as I've struggled up the hill, cursing under my breath.

Well done you! I just impulse-bought some 2kg weights on Amazon as I shall be needing those tinned tomatoes tonight....
I used to do the Shred before I started the 5:2 and it helped me lose a dress size, but I had to give up because of the havoc level 2 played on my knees! I do intend starting it again soon and substituting those horrific pendulum lunges with static ones to try and save my knees!
I know what you mean - I tried level 1 ages ago when I was a size bigger (I lost a bunch of weight with a VLCD last year) and ended up having to hobble to physio. Knees gave way. Slightly lighter now, though, so so far so good (touch wood!). I think replacing some of the bouncy cardio with punches would help too.
I've been doing the shred for a few months and am on level 2. I really enjoy it but only do it 4 times a week or so (mixed with a bit of other). I only have a couple of kilograms to loose and haven't lost much since the initial weight loss in the first few months. I've just had a nice piece of carrot, beetroot, courgette and nut gluten free cake - so am not complaining about the lack of weight loss - hopefully I'll tone up more and then just see how things progress. I definitely can't go on to 6:1 as I would put on weight.
Just thought I'd post an update - day 8 of level 1 and I'm definitely feeling a bit stronger in my core and limber in my limbs. Found it harder the day after a fast day, and approaching TOTM (strength stuff not so hard but the cardio did me in a bit), and I have slight shin splints from all the bouncing, but altogether I've a spring in my step. Measurement/weigh-in day tomorrow, so we'll see what's what :)
I'm on my last day of the shred tonight! I'm moving straight on to ripped in 30 when I can find it on YouTube. Level 3 is harsh. The very last cardio set kills me every time.
This doesnt really add to the conversation, but I love Jillian Michael's DVDs. I did the 30 DS back in February when I hadnt heard of the 5:2 diet. I dont feel I lost any weight with it but then I probably didnt work very hard and still ate "badly". But I definitely noticed that I didnt struggle so much with the cardio by the end. I have since moved on to her Extreme Shed and Shred which I started on Monday. I love it, but at the moment I wont do it on a fast day. Am sticking to pilates on those days.
Congratulations on completing 30 day shred imcountingufoz. I started ripped in 30 on Monday, couldn't find it on you tube but found it on dailymotion.com
WOW! well done imcountingufoz- respect! The cardio in level one really poops me so heaven know if I'll get through level 2 never mind 3!
beeswax- we'll get there! I find the day after a fast a wee bit tough too. I did it today (faste yesterday) but had my breakfast then went out so did it about and hour and a half later than usual- what a workout- that cardio was a breeze at the end (ok, the middle one killed me!)- I was shouting at Jillian to keep up with me.
Probably will be crippled with spaegie tomorrow! Pkanned day off from it tomorrow as away at dark o'clock diving and I'll not be fit to do it later (there is something about not doing vigorous exercise after diving anyway
Motherof2- what other ones have you done? I 'quite' like her in that she doesn't annoy the t**s off me and dont find myslef hurling abuse at her while I'm trying to keep up (unlike Davina and that female trainer she has....)
I'm very intrigued - I am going to a ball on 22 June so the idea that there's something I can start now to help get me in shape for that is very appealing.

Imcountingufoz, can you tell us what results you've had in terms of weight loss, inches loss etc?

I found this in my quick google research - it says you should lose 1-2 inches off everything if you do it faithfully for 30 days:

I have been exercising now every single day for a month, though not nearly to this intensity, so I know I can find the time, as this workout is even shorter. I may give it a go!

Good luck! :) It's not too bad, and that link has inspired me to try not to take another day off. I skipped yesterday because my muscles were in way too much pain to do exercise. Although I did do a few crunches before bed.

Also I second asking Imcountingufoz about her results! Very curious, if you're willing to share :)

@ Janeg - lol. I did one session of Killer Buns and Thighs. Wasnt too impressed, guess I was expecting similar punishment to 30DS. I will try it again tho but not until I've done my time on Extreme Shed and Shred. I have also got Ripped in 30 but havent tried it.
Confession time - I love  Billy Blanks and tae bo. He is sooooo sexy and motivating and he speaks to me - and only me- when we are exercising together. Unforunately 2 of the dames are serious irritations and look cool and toned while I am wheezing fit to suck in the furniture and have a face like a well skelped (smacked) behind. Sadly, I don;t have the DVD/Videos....
*tootles off to have a wee search on you tube*
In the last month I have lost half a stone in weight, and here are my measurements:

DAY 1
Arms - 11.5 inches
Thighs - 23 inches
Hips - 41 inches
Waist - narrowest part - 35 inches

DAY 30
Arms - 10 inches
Thighs - 20 inches
Hips - 39 inches
Waist - narrowest part - 33 inches

That is a revelation for me, as I hadn't been measuring! If that isn't testament to Jillian and 5:2, I don't know what is!

I've had 1-2 rest days a week, and have done nothing on top of that, other than walking my daughter to and from school. I have also gained strength and muscle in my arms - lost any trace of bingo wings, and I am pleased with how my thighs look.
