Blimey - I have been absent with the busy RUN up to Xmas up north! Phew, I'm back
@Isis glad to hear you OH is retiring, it's been the best quality time for my parents, now 89 and 95 that they never expected. Ciao @Sallyo - ok I need to brush up my Italian for our meet and walk in Rome
@stephd where are you walking tomorrow? @Manderley do come walk with us today. @Azureblue what are you up to? I'm lounging on the sofa at the moment but out there for sure tomorrow.

Lizbean! Hallo!
Currently I'm trying to stop my toes going into awful cramping at any time of the day and night. So painful and uncomfortable. The interweb suggests drinking more water and upping magnesium, potassium and calcium, all of which I've had in food form regularly. Makes me go GRRRRRRRRR!
I walked gingerly today on slippy ice but only into town to chat with friends over a looooong lunch.
Must. Walk. More. Preferably without hobbling :0)
Take care m'dear and all our steady band of walkers x

Well, I wimped out and just walked to the post office down the street. Perhaps later I will do a walk through the neighbourhood to see the Christmas lights. Yesterday was better, I was out for about an hour or so as I walked a ways to do some shopping. I like walking but find it difficult to find the motivation to go out at times. Now is one of those times :).

Hi @Azureblue my Mum has complained of night cramps recently, though when she is on her feet and walking all is good. She is a busy bean around the home but rarely goes out these days. I hope you feel relief very soon Keep up the good walking :victory:

Ciao @Lizbean! Io camino. Since Boxing Day I have started a New Regime of getting up at 7am, having breakfast and going for a walk at about 8am. Get home by 9 and start the day's activities. I have been setting the alarm for 7 as we are in holiday mode. It has been very good. I find that if I think I am going to go for a walk as soon as I get up, before breakfast, it is a disincentive to getting out of bed. But if I think 'Breakfast' I want to get up, and then I am strengthened to go walking. Anyway I am employing the 'Just do it' practice. For the last 3 days I have managed 10,000 steps. I find I am tired at night and sleeping well. Welcome to the tent, @stephd. Walking in winter is hard and I am so lucky to be in the land of summer. Come on @Maggiee, let's get out there.

Lovely to see your happy face @Maggiee
E' molto freddo oggi! We went for a stroll in Waterlow Park today http://www.waterlowpark.org.uk/ - a sunny and crisp winters day. I'm enjoying my second week of leave from work. Tomorrow is a brisk walk to the vet for Charlie Cat's meds, buying flowers for my big sis and then off to Kent to visit my sister in her new home for new year. I'm looking forward to exploring the neighbourhood she has retired to.
@Sallyo, I'm glad to hear the morning walk is working for you in the hols, it makes sense as that's when we have the most energy so can enjoy.
Take care on the black ice - if it's near you today.

Thanks @:Lizbean - didn't realize I had a double chin though! That definitely has to go!

@Sallyo - I am dog sitting from today so my first walk will be to take the dog for a walk this afternoon and then tomorrow morning I plan to go for a walk first thing as I don't really have breakfast. I will have my coffee AFTER my walk, that is a big change for me let me tell you! Then I will take one day at a time.
Lucky it's our summer here and we don't have to worry about black ice, take care.

cheers
Masggie.

Well done,@Maggiee. Yes, no black ice here. Drying paddocks. Warm breeze. Enjoy the walk with the dog.
I am reading Roger Deakin's Waterlog, which I got as a Christmas present. Such beautiful writing. Any swimmers here would love it. It makes me want to write beautifully about my walks but my head is all full of Italiano, which is still at a very basic level. I can't get past the first unit of level 1. It seems a very hard language after Japanese which has no subject-verb agreement, no articles, no genders. The possessive is impossibly difficult in Italian! That's in lesson 2.

I walked round Tesco in the afternoon and did 30 minutes Wiifit step while watching Indiana Jones yesterday, does that count?!
I must get going, I've not been for a proper walk since Christmas...

I've remembered to take magnesium tablets the last two nights and been much improved. Recommended.

Great to hear about everyone's walks. I have been out and about locally in all weathers, today's walk was in strong winds and very fine rain, so I got a bit wet, but came home feeling refreshed and with rosy cheeks ! We have a daffodil in full flower, fantastic ! They always make me smile. All the others are only just poking their buds out of the ground !

Well done, @mrstee. The fine rain, the rosy cheeks, the daffodil. I am pleased to report that in the last 4 days I have topped 10,000 steps. One day I managed 12,000. Today I decided to have a day off. I slept in, read my book and generally have lazed around. Yesterday I was very tired. Nevertheless at the end of the evening before I went to bed, I walked down the drive in the dark to get to 10,000. I won't get there today. I am happy if I do 10,000 steps for 5 days a week. I am sleeping so much better already, and tired at night. Puffy on the hills but this will all get better.
