I'm glad your falls haven't made you give up on walking @CandiceMarie, I suppose you must be aware of what could happen all the time which must spoil your walks a bit. :frown: I've had a few falls but mostly down (or up) the stairs, I have to remember not to rush.
I've just had short walks with Maisie in the last couple of days, sometimes she keeps stopping every couple of yards to sniff where other dogs have been, that's when I don't enjoy the walk, she sniffs and sniffs and won't take another step for a few minutes. Sometimes I pick her up and put her down again further along the road but it happens again and again, then I give up and bring her home. That's why I like to walk in the fields when they aren't too wet, then as she isn't on the lead I can walk at my own pace.

Aah she's so sweet @coffeetime and they do enjoy sniffing around so much!
I know what you mean tho,she stops you from getting a good workout sort of walk, going at a steady brisk pace..
the memory of falling and the worry of falling again keeps me walking carefully rather than pegging along speedily, which might give me some cardio vascular exercise! X

No walks. Still suffering but not as bad as before. I didn't get to yoga today, either. But I don't think this will put me off my newly found walking mojo. I will get back to it soon.

Hi Candice

I'm afraid I talk the talk (re NES) but I don't walk the walk - in that , when my wife shouted down last night, "Are you coming up?" I was digging my spoon into some l/over veg curry! And I can do that about 4 evenings a week.

BUT, on the plus side, when I do that, I always miss breakfast - and sometimes lunch - the next day. If I went to bed before 12.30, I'd be OK - after that, nothing is safe. I've even been known to have a fry-up late on!

My weight, however, has been steady around 9.4 for the past two years, so I just go with the flow!

On the fitness angle, after skipping up to the till to pay for my petrol I was asked if I used to be an athlete! This about a guy who couldn't do one press up a year ago! Now I can do 4 sets of 20 with an 8kg weight on my back!

Aw thats fab about the weight maintenance and the skipping @BreadandWine
I can neither skip nor run..unless its to run my eyes round a room! I' m good at jumping to conclusions too!
Night eating...i never really want to eat late at night even tho i' m often awake very late or having a bout of insomnia.
Wd be good if i could reverse that and not be hungry in the day...x :?:

I walked the dog around a different field today. Here and there amongst the stubble there were splashes of deep orange from the apply named orange peel fungus, I haven't taken much notice of it before, it was soft to the touch and had a wild mushroom like smell. It was a pleasant walk, the sun was shining and the sky was blue with the high cirrus clouds looking like lacy cobwebs stretching across the whole sky, there were fluffy white clouds scooting along beneath them, changing shape on the way. There was a cold wind but it was quite warm in the shelter of the hedges on the way home.
Now I'm feeling full of the joys of spring - in late autumn!

Oh, beautiful description @Coffeetime. Isn't it great how you see things when you walk and also you see things when you know you're going to write about your walk! You're looking out for things to say about the walk. I love that fungus! And those clouds. No walking for me yet. I did walk down to the local shop to buy butter earlier today but tomorrow, my work day, when I normally would park the car and walk, I'm going to park at work because I think just going to work is going to be enough exercise for me tomorrow. I will get back to it. I love those Just Do It days!

I've bought a step counter, not an expensive one that measures everything, I just wanted something to count how many steps I take each day and then try to gradually do more. I'm supposed to walk at a constant pace for it to work properly, rather difficult when Maisie suddenly stops and nearly pulls me over every few paces but I'll see how it goes.
