Welcome on board @coffeetime. Interestingly I spoke with a friend recently who is originally from Cornwall (lived in London for last 40 yrs) and her sibs still live in Cornwall - you may know them  . We talked about walking and she said it's so dangerous on the lanes with the tall hedges. So you take good care! Walking for me is always best with a good friend .. to chatter with, so relaxing. Sciatia! Is gentle exercise helpful for you? Hoping for a bit of sun this weekend for my walk.

@Coffeetime, welcome to the tent. Sorry I was so intent on talking to Maggiee that I missed your post. Dreamy descriptions of the country side are obligatory in this tent. We like to look about. I am looking forward to your descriptions of the scenery in Cornwall as I've never been there. I did walk again today, following my 'get up, have breakfast and go for a half our walk' regime. The main event was coming across some dogwood flowering beside a paddock. I picked a few stems and have brought them home to put in a vase. I used to try to walk before breakfast but the down side of that was that if I was feeling negative about walking, I would put off getting out of bed and then I'd say it was too late or I was too hungry. Having breakfast first works well. Breakfast is something good to get up to and then, off for a walk immediately, home by 9am ready to get out in the garden.

Thank you for the welcome @Lizbeanand @Sallyo, I typed out a reply this morning but it's disappeared so here I am again.
It's a sunny day in Cornwall but rather cold, I didn't walk far with the dog, I had a birthday card to post so we just walked a short way around the small field next to the post box. The road is very muddy at this time of year and after last week's heavy rain - was it last week? I can't remember - the water is still running down the sides of the road, all the drains are blocked with fallen leaves so we get huge puddles everywhere, sometimes the whole road gets flooded and it's a nightmare trying to walk through it before a car comes whizzing past and showers me with muddy water. I've found a way of stopping them though, I walk/paddle along the middle of the road which is not very wide and the drivers have to wait, then I turn round and smile at them and they always smile back.

The sciatica comes and goes Lizbean, if I don't do anything silly like heavy lifting or reaching up then it's usually OK. When it's bad we have short walks and very often I start off limping and come home walking normally - but sometimes it's the other way around. I hope the sun will be shining for you at the weekend.

I like to walk after breakfast too Sallyo, I'm not a 'morning person' so the later the better and there is less traffic by then. Not that we get much traffic here, it's mostly farm vehicles but it's also a rat run so it gets a little busy early morning and again late afternoon.

Thanks @coffeetime and good luck with the mud and all the puddles. I'd also walk in the middle of the road! I heard this will be a very wet winter for us, I need to check out to see if this forecast is true and what it means.
I'm very happy a winter sun is predicted tomorrow, Saturday. I'm walking over Hampstead Heath in the morning and the afternoon will be spent shopping for a very special sister's birthday present at Greenwich market.
Earlier this year my colleague spent a month in Uganda, his sciatica disappeared overnight, and he put this down to fewer stairs in Uganda. Sciatica reappeared as soon he arrived back in the UK. So for him the trigger is stairs. Interesting.

That's interesting @Lizbean, although stairs don't bother me, stretching up or twisting sideways is painful but lifting or pulling heavy weights can stop me moving about for a couple of weeks. I expect your friend would like to go back to Uganda as often as possible!
Enjoy your afternoon with your daughter - and the sunshine :sun:

Wet lanes, drains blocked with autumn leaves, walking over Hampstead Heath, Greenwich Market. Marvellous. It is a lovely sunny day here but I won't be walking. I've come down suddenly with a cold so I'm resting and reading today. Happy walking everyone.

Thank you. It's good to get your good wishes across the world. I have discovered Philippa Gregory and I've been reading The White Queen. Now finished and onto the The Lady of the Rivers. Great reads. It's almost worth being sick so you can spend the day reading.

Get well soon @sallyo and enjoy curling up with a book x
@coffeetime i too get sciatica ..horrid isnt it..stairs kick it off for me amongst other things.
I have long stretches where it doesnt bother me.. I' m always a bit dizzy and have fallen a lot, which means ive lost confidence walking. My neighbour has had trouble with his knee, and ive noticed he's been taking long walks just going back and forth along the long corridor on the ground floor of our apartments.
Nowhere near as much fun as walking outside, but think will give it a go,as tho it mightn't be scenic,at least its exercise. And i' m less likely to fall in the corridor than outdoors..x
Not much to report back here about, but i can look out at our nice garden as i bowl along! X

Sorry to hear that you keep falling @CandiceMarie, that must be scary when you are out and about, I hope you don't get hurt badly.

@CandiceMarie, sounds like a plan. Start small and build on it. I should do a little walk tomorrow, even though I have a cold. Feeling a bit more human today.

My furry friend is the best motivator to go for long walk as he's constantly harassing me, really, to go for long walk

So everyday we go for 2 40 minutes walk, one when I arrive and one just before I go back home and it really makes walks fun

Hallo! Hugs to all my fellow walkers, hoping the pains ease away and all shall be well.
Been a busy few days celebrating my grandson and my birthdays but I'm back on the track and out as the weather allows.
The days are so short now I seem to run out of light so fast! I'm determined to get up earlier and make the most of any light that turns up. Recently saw a great white egret, a goldeneye and several kingfishers so the spottings going well, and OH has invested in new wellies so getting out should be more acceptable :0)
Also found a flowering snapdragon on top of a spoil heap, amazing!
Get up. Get out. Keep going :handshake:

Just been for a short walk...going was great, refreshingly cold
Coming back felt like walking thru treacle
Nothing much to report from my walkies coz i live in city centre..interesting tho to see folk going into theatres, restaurants etc and all the twinkly lights and crimbo trees..
By the Anglican Cathedral, helped a man who cdnt find his car..turned out he'd parked it by the Catholic cathedral!
@coffeetime i only fall average of two, three times a year but its knocked my confidence so i fear falling ( probably makes it more likely i will) Last two falls, i fractured my wrists..first the left, then the right..involved long waits in A n E,xrays,pain..Never fall over anything, just over my own feet! X
