Broke my fast at 1pm today..that's an 18 hour fast, with leek and potato soup, a slice of bread and cheese and three squares of 0% chocolate (mmmm). Forgot to take any meat out of the freezer so will probably have a pasta dish for dinner later. I'm aiming to close my window before 7.30pm, earlier if possible but son is staying late at school so might be tricky. Hope everyone else's windows are clear!
Another 2 - 6, starting with spinach omelette and the second half of my red salmon and kidney bean salad. Later on I made some organic hummous and had about a third with an avocado and a small salad. Rounding off with some hazelnut butter and 100% chocolate. Going to have my elderberry and Echinacea tea now. Kitchen closed for another day.
made it 17 hours today without eating. :like:
So excited! This morning I showed the first loss I've had after an eating day! Usually I'm down after a Fast and back up after a normal day! I have to give the credit to 16:8!!

I opened my window at 11 yesterday and closed it at 6. I ate a lot and sure did not expect to see a loss. I did, however, run to the loo a lot last evening and I didn't drink that much! That is usually a sign of fat burning. :victory:

Today was going to be a Fast day with a boot camp workout this morning, but the roads are still a sheet of ice, so I'm declaring it another 16:8 day and a rest from exercise. It's all good! Besides, I'm getting my hair cut after work today and they always offer me a glass of wine which I would think I should decline were it a Fast day!

Have a wonderful day!

Congratulations Lori,
Well that's good to hear for me. I am basically aiming for the 16/8 window. Also, I didn't know about the running to the lou before. Good to know.
Unbelievable, but another small loss after an eating day using 16:8! I'm hopeful that I have found the key to unlocking some fat loss again! I've been hovering around the same weight for nearly 2 years, but need another 30 lbs gone!

Today is a Fast day so hope to see another lower number tomorrow!

How is everyone doing?
Opened my window at 1.45 with scrambled egg on toast and three pieces of dark chocolate. Will probably eat dinner quite early tonight so am on for a 5 hour window or less. I did feel quite hungry this morning but remembered to feel the hunger and choose not to do anything about it, which I have been reading is a good tool for coping with mindless eating...observing the feelings in a dispassionate way weakens those connections between emotion/boredom and eating without noticing. I am interested to see if I experience any changes around my appetite during the eating window (specifically, the tendency to want to eat pre-dinner nibbles rather than just wait until dinner time).
Yeah Lori, way to go!

I'm doing ok. I've made it several days now up to 17 hours and working on making my window of eating smaller. Carorees, I'm going to attempt that 5 hour eating window tomorrow. This will be a leap for me.
Is there anything more gutting than seeing a gain after a 500 calorie day? :dazed: Only 2/10ths of a pound, but still! I'm a bit sore from boot camp, so I'm quite sure it's due to muscle water retention. Also having some food "transit" issues, so there's that.

Shooting for a good 16:8 day today. My cat got me up extra early this morning, so I have 7 hours until my window opens. Sigh...it's going to be a long morning. I will have a TB of coconut oil in a cup of coffee in a couple hours. That should get me thru until 11.

Have a great Friday & weekend!
Apologies if this appears somewhere else, as I thought I posted this but can't find it now - I do struggle with this website!
I have some questions regarding 'the eating window' - I take it this means, for example having a meal at say, 7pm and then nothing until 1pm the next day making it a 18 hours fast, 6 hour eat split? What about drinking - what's allowed? Would you still exercise, gym classes/cardio etc? What is your thoughts regarding those that say by not eating regularly your body goes into 'starvation mode' and burns fat slower?
I have been plateauing now for some time and need to find a way to kick start my weight loss again
@Rigi

16:8, 19:5, 17:7 or whatever split you choose is just eating & drinking within your chosen window. When I say drinking, I mean drinks with calories. You can, and should, drink water and other non-calorie beverages during all waking hours. I typically open my eating window at 11 and often it is closed by 6, but 7 is the absolute max.

As for you questions about "starvation mode" etc, I would refer you to the Fasting Library link at the top of the page(in the yellow bar). There are lots of great articles and explanations there.

Good luck!
Hi Rigi,
welcome!

I just read Carorees blog testimony. Wow! Very inspirational!
Thank you @righton!

Broke my fast at 1.00 today, with cheese, mushrooms and tomatoes on toast zapped in the microwave followed by a spoonful of leftover apple crumble and a couple of pieces of dark chocolate. Prepped slow roast lamb shoulder for dinner...should be ready by 6.30 so aiming for a 5-6 hour window again.

@Rigi, your description of the eating window is exactly right! As for gym etc, just carry on as normal. Drinks outside of the eating window should be calorie free or very low cal (like milk in coffee but not e.g. a latte; veg bouillon, miso soup, that kind of thing).

Starvation mode is what happens when your body fat gets down to the 5% mark...not likely to be a major problem for most of us! Weight loss itself results in a reduction in the number of calories you need each day mostly due to your lighter, smaller body but also in response to the weight loss, your body does make economies in how much energy it uses.
Well I've not yet accomplished a solid stable eating window. I'm just winging it so far, but glad to report a drop. I started at 185 and am now 181.......
Good going righton! That's a nice loss. I seem to lose and gain in 10ths of pounds these days. Quite depressing!

I seem to do well with an eating window of 11-7. I often close my window by 6 during the week. Weekends are killing me. I lose during the week and put it back on the weekends. I'm getting dizzy from all this up and down! I'll keep on trying, but I really have to get a handle on this plan.
