Today was different from the usual same old same old when it came to my eating window. We had a day out at the coast. When we got there, OH had a latte and I had an Americano, so still fasting. We went for a walk on the beach and when we got back into town it was 1 o'clock and I suggested finding the chippie straight away as I did not know when they closed. So, opened window at 1.15 with a "small" cod and chips of which I ate around two thirds. After a bit of browsing in the shops we set off home, and I had some hazelnut butter and 100% chocolate from my stash. ( I always carry low carb snacks when going out in case I have hiccups with my window). Feeling a bit guilty about the lack of greens, I picked up an M&S house salad at Scotch Corner and had that with a boiled egg and a glass of coconut milk when I got home. This took me up to 5.15. I don't feel as packed as I usually do, but I will close the kitchen anyway.
Posting to remind me of willpower today after window failure yesterday.

Yesterday we had a morning tea put on, and although I had intended to stash away for later any items which I could eat. (usually there's not much in the animal product free zone). There was lovely veg sushi and fruit platters, so I ended up eating at 10 am, and then more food appeared following a meeting around 4pm, which I ate (vegetable platters, samosas, more fruit) . I should have closed the window after that! however, after my 5-7:30 work out I had hummus and carrots followed by some dates and almonds, making a full day of eating from 10am to 9!pm.

So my mission today is to avoid the birthday cake being served at morning tea, and hold strong until my window opens at 2:30!
Successful window today, but I feel like I ate too much. I sure I'm within my TDEE, but it feels like SO much food! I did have a beer with dinner, so that adds to the full feeling.

Onward tomorrow!
Thanks Lori,
Actually I'm all over the place with my window at the present time. But I'm eating a Keto type of diet with this that is really making me feel good. I believe I'll get more regular on the window soon.
Here's a sample menu:
3 eggs and cheese cooked in coconut oil with low carb veggies
2 cod fillets with walnut oil and an avocado with salad
Snacks are almonds and cheese
This is very satisfying.
another pound hits the dust!
Today is strictly speaking a 16/8 day for me, although the more permissive Fast-5ers would let me call it a Fast-5 day.

Today I was to meet up with my jogging partner and I still felt lethargic with a cold I can't quite shake off, so to avoid being a drag I had some coconut oil in my decaffeinated about an hour before we set out. I still did not power my way round her route (where I live is hilly, but round her way is extremely hilly), but I did get round without fatigue in my calves and thighs. So I broke my Fast at 16 hours in from the point of view of ingesting calories, but not from the point of view of creating an insulin spike.

I am sticking to the usual 2 - 6 for actual food.

Hi @righton, I'm also eating a keto diet (LCHF- Low carb high fat) and also feel amazing. Check out www.diet doctor.com . he's a Swedish doctor who blogs about this stuff. Its very informative.
I have a 21st on tonight so I'll try to fast till 5pm tonight- so probably a 4 hour feeding window.

thanks Julianna,
I appreciate the info. I'm at that point of absorbing all I can get. What is so cool is to feel amazing while fasting and dieting.
Hi all, Tracieknits suggested I pop in here. I guess I've fallen into the eating window approach without really noticing. However every day is a little different so I don't know if that matters. Mondays and Fridays I fast. Saturday I usually have breakfast if I feel hungry and then throughout the day I eat when hungry so it is not an eating window day. Sunday and Tuesday I eat between 2 and 10 p.m. Wednesday from 4 to 8. Thursday 3 -8. So you see, I am all over the place. Does that matter? I haven't really been losing weight consistently and actually gain some days despite the fasting. I think I am eating the wrong things on non-fast days and perhaps too much. Any help?
Hi @stephd. It doesn't matter at all if your eating window varies a lot. As long as you're getting the results you want. Gaining some days is completely normal as your body water weight varies. No-one loses weight consistently. As long as your average weight for the week is getting lower week by week it doesn't matter what you weigh on any particular day.

If you're enjoying your way of eating and it fits your life just carry on.

If you feel you must make changes, the areas I'd look at are eating late at night especially if the late night food is carb/sugar based. Or shortening your longer windows. And look at your overall carb intake. I try to keep my carb intake moderate as well as having an eating window.

What do you think?
Thanks for your thoughts. I have cut out some carbs but haven't increased my fat and protein portions as ssure or tracieknits (I think) mentioned that might be what I should do. That said I just had a small bowl of spaghetti with meat sauce and parmesan. It is now 4 p.m. and the way my stomach feels I probably won't eat again today. The same thing happened last Sunday after I ate a mid afternoon meal so I made it a fast day. This is the first time I've had pasta in over a month so I thought I'd treat myself. I made the sauce at my son's request and now he says he doesn't like it :curse: . I'll be giving most of it away and freezing a little bit for when I want another carb treat. One thing I really must do is increase my vegetable intake. It is abysmal. I love my fruit. I will take your suggestions into consideration as I continue to figure out what works for my body.
How are all the windowers doing?

I had a 20 hour fast today and a 4 hour window due to circumstances while on Sunday it was a shorter 16 hour fast and a 8 hour window. So, on average my window is less than 8 hours. I love the flexibility of this way of eating!
I've been consciously 18:6 since Sunday, generally eating between 1.30pm to 7.30pm or less. Feels good so far though there's no weight loss ...
I will pursue this while it seems easy and satisfying, at least 2 weeks anyway.
:0)
I've been doing a 16:8 window daily for the past week and a half (in addition to two, 500 calorie fasts/week) and I wonder why I haven't done this before! I can very easily skip breakfast. I don't usually get hungry until noon or 1 and then I stop eating around 8 or 9. I don't find that I eat a huge lunch or dinner because I skipped breakfast which is awesome! And I finally shed another pound and a half after 3 weeks of going nowhere. Of course, I've also started exercising again so that's probably helping, too. I'm definitely going to keep this up!
Hi Folks,
I'm ready to do this again. Great Progress SammyIam.

I'm just going to feel around the window world till I find the right place for me. Who Knows, I could be all over the map.
