Thanks @barbarita

I just downloaded his new book too. I started reading last night, but as is often the case, I kept falling asleep! I'll try again today.

I am really excited as Dr Bert Herring, the originator of the Fast-5 way of eating back in 2005 has just published a new book called "AC: The Power of Appetite Correction". I have downloaded it from Amazon, but haven't had time to read it yet, what with the jogging and my window just having opened. Read it this evening.

Do let me know whether it tells us anything new @barbarita...I'm tempted to download it too...
I have an enforced eating window coming up as Ramadan starts tomorrow here in Qatar, so no eating or drinking in public at work. I am glad I have experience of fasting so not eating until after I get home at 2.30pm won't be a problem as it will be for many others. Not drinking is a little more extreme so I shall have to sneak off to the loo every half an hour for a quiet swig of water, or hide under the table.
At least it will focus me for a while!
Good luck with your first ramadan @Debs.
I won't miss it at all! :D
Wondering how Scots muslims are going to manage with it being so close to midsummer and there being very little darkness
Thank you, I don't blame you!! It is coincidence that I am on holiday from the 23rd so I shall miss most of it anyway this year. I am happy about the shorter working hours though!!
Happy to report that after 2 weeks of 19:5, I'm down 3 lbs! I only do it 4-5 days a week and find it quite easy. It has been a long time since I've been able to get the scale to budge. Very happy! This gives me motivation to eat more mindfully on the weekend when I'm not doing 19:5. I'll be on the golf course all weekend....we'll see how it goes.
I find this so much easier to do now, and knowing that I can eat when I need to has taken a lot of the stress out of it. I was calm and zen like at work while others around me, not used to fssting were getting decidely ratty! It was even more evident when people were driving home. And there I was thinking the driving couldn't get much worse!
Starting today with a mug of Clipper Rise And Shine tisane, a mix of Yerba mate, lemongrass and lemon verbena, very refreshing to get me awake and going.
I'm pursuing fasting through evenings~night~mornings again for that clear lightness it engenders, and to control my creeping nibbling. Oh what a nibbler I am! If I can keep my eating to afternoons the calories stay down :0). Puts me on around 17:7 or 18:6 probably but feels good anyway.
Have a happy day folks, smiling obligatory (it creates those lovely endorphins).
:0D
@azureblue AB ..i am a nibbler too..in fact if there was an Olympic games for nibbling,i would get gold! Evenings are worst,i could just draw a chair up to the fridge
Big high fives to us inveterate nibblers,we still manage to rein it in most of the time/ a lot of the time,so we deserve medals for that! X
@debs hehe! Fasting must be a walk in the park for you compared to yr colleagues!
I was shocked by the lack of water thing..surely thats a bit dangerous? Does it apply to everyone...elderly,children,ill folk? X
Bet youre looking forward to the 23rd xx!
Yes, I think it is dangerous too but it is written into law here. The only people exempt are elderly, ill, kids, pregnant and menstruating women. I think it is drastic in this heat but there you go. I have some rehydration powder which I glug down at regular intervals, no wonder people get ratty here!
I have got back into a skirt I grew out of so there is a plus side!
I'm just coming back from the nibblers Olympics where I took the gold medal. So I'm ready to start my fastings......

I'll be trying for 16?8 for starters......

Hi and I wish us all self control
Well I made it for 18 hours today. I broke my fast with a bowl of quail drop soup. Those little quail eggs are full of vitamins. I will have a 7 hour window today. Then I don't know about tomorrow. I will attempt to go for 16 hours.
Today was a real challenge ...

No, I wasn't having a "sod it" wobble, or overcome by ravening hunger. It was a logistical problem.

I went out on a special walk with the local rambling group. They generally have lunch at 12.30. I don't. They go for refreshments at the end of the walk, before getting the coach back to the meeting place. On a long day we may not return to the meeting place much before 6, which is when my kitchen closes. So I went to a lot of effort to make a big salad and a coconut milk dessert which I thought to eat instead of the cakes on offer at the tea place, and left them on the coach - no point hauling them over the mountains. Which would have worked except that when we got to the tea place the coach had not arrived. So my day's eating consisted of boiled eggs, dark chocolate and mini portions of Cheddar, coffee into which I stirred my own coconut oil and butter, pistachios consumed discreetly on the coach, and most of my salad eaten in 20 minutes in the car park. Better luck next time.
These things happen @barbarita! But you made the best of a tricky situation there.

I opened my window late today as I was at an event and didn't get home until 2.30 which was fortunate because I got distracted with gardening and such like (a beautiful day here) and didn't finish eating until 8.30 so a good 6 hour window. Only overt carbs were 2 squares of dark chocolate, the remainder were whatever is in plentiful vegetables from the garden and some nuts.
