So elegant @Marybeth.

Now, where is @rawkaren when I need her fashionista advice? Or any of our other gurus?

I want a new pair of jeans. I tried to order a Jasper Conran 'slim and shape' online, but it only gives the length as regular and those who've met me know that, whilst I'm 5' 6", my legs are short for my height and 29" length is good for me.
Any recommendations for a flattering pair of this season's must haves, please?

Hi @pennyforthem. I'm a fan of NYDJ. They are more expensive in the UK than here, but they hold everything in - in all of the right places. You go down a size smaller (so a bit vanity sizing), but at least it feels like everything stays in place. However you might need to try different fits to figure out if the length works for you. As you know I'm short - but tuck the excess under as you don't need to bother altering http://www.very.co.uk/women/not-your-da ... 939103.end. I wore NYDJ when we met - the skinny ones.

Alternatively at a different price point, Gap are great for different styles and leg length and so is Next.

I bought some great jeans in America, Banana Republic 'slim bootcut' - sooo flattering! I'm 5'4" but short in the leg. I went for the short and my exact waist measurement and they fit perfectly.much cheaper than other jeans I've bought and so comfortable too. There are BR shops in the UK so have a look.

I love when something posts here. It's gone pretty silent. Sometimes, especially when I'm having a hard day, fashion is something that takes my mind off other things, like how hard it is. @rawkaren , don't you dare give up.

Hey @piper. You called? How about these dudes? Currently wearing with black cropped pants (trousers) and an evening top. These count as my investment shoes for this year. Like I need more shoes

@Rawkaren cool shoes, love them! I'm still looking for a pair of day time brogues and then of course winter boots.
Saturday clothes shopping here I come, not for me - for my Mum's 89th birthday presents - all 3 daughters are out hunting this pm, in different parts of the country. I'm off to Oxford Street ............................

I've never been a fashionista, and never hope to be one - I live mostly in jeans and tee shirt. But I sure have been enjoying shopping lately. I used to dread it, but now that I don't think "Does it make me look fat?" it's a whole new experience. This is the first casual winter dress I've bought in decades, I think. It's a real soft corduroy, and buttons all the way up the front. Bought at the Gap for a song (are you familiar with that expression? it was 30% off - $45=28pounds)

Looking good @wendyjane! I used to have a dress just like that, in the same colour and everything, but I gave it away a couple of years ago as it was a bit on the short side. Might have to go and take a look in Gap...

Nice dress Wendyjane. You suit fitted clothes, like me. They give me some shape. Yes, Well done for finding a dress that was going for a song

@Nicky_94, I'm sure it's supposed to be really short, which I suppose might be cute, at least for the under 30 crowd. Fortunately, on me it's just above the knee, which is a perfect length

@WendyJane I saw your dress today, it is lovely, they had an ivory cord colour too! Have you seen Sea Salt range http://www.seasaltcornwall.co.uk/ - I have my eye on a number of cardigans for Xmas presents - quite like White Stuff range.

@CandiceMarie - tough search - went to ALL the stores on Oxford Street, so many dresses are light weight, no zip, short sleeved. Not what we need at 89.
Chose this that suits a very classy silver haired lady for the winter celebrations - her birthday, cousins 90th, Xmas or New Year, silver jewellery, light pink lipstick, charcoal stockings and patent shoes and handbag. I may need to get it shortened a few inches.

I also bought an ivory cashmere cardigan for her Xmas present - goes with all her wardrobe apart from white!
