Wallis Autumn event. Up to 30% off.
Go and buy people's. I really like Wallis, bought a flowery dress in the summer sale. Which is coming out for Xmas parties. Need to stop looking at website now before I buy some more.

I heard today that this word was in the running for this year's Oxford English Dictionary's word of the year:
normcore, noun:
A trend in which ordinary, unfashionable clothing is worn as a deliberate fashion statement.

Yes!! Describes to a T my wearing of brand-new LL Bean "original fit" high-waisted trousers and now my new purchase of winter-time "dress-up" shoes that look more than a little on the orthopedic side to me:

But at my age, my already hard-to-fit feet (AA with quad A heel, and one foot half-size longer than the other) now need more room in the front because of (still small) bunions. Comfort has to come first now, if I want to enjoy going out in bad winter weather in something other than Reebok Princess athletic shoes.

But I also found some great-looking and very comfortable dress-up sandals for good-weather occasions--so I'm not completely "normcore" (I think) :dazed:

Maybe I should have put this in the Sassy Seniors  Any way I'm very happy looking forward to no more pain from my feet. :victory:

Lovely and elegant clothes, there, @carieoates. Love that long velvet dress, the funnel coat, on and on. Thanks!

@Marybeth - as a fellow bunion sufferer I am with you on the comfort front - life is too short to be squished into uncomfortable shoes!

I can never understand how anyone can buy a pair of shoes without trying them first. Even then you can make mistakes.
And yes as far as I am concerned comfort comes first, second , third etc!

@Merlin I probably didn't make it clear that I tried on a zillion pairs of shoes yesterday, before coming home with the two pair I mentioned. I found them online afterwards so I could show what they look like. (I haven't yet learned how to post a photo)

Yes, indeed, comfort first--can't enjoy anything if feet hurt!

me three. My mom (whose wide bunioned feet I inherited--why didn't I get her big blue eyes?!?!) had surgery for hers recently because her toes were crossing over. She's got a metal plate in her foot to re-align the bones that will probably stay in.

@MaryAnn Oh, your poor Mum! OH's daughter just had bunion surgery--what a long painful recovery.

Lucky girl@silverdarling. I bought a grey furry cape/short poncho with sleeves last week with a lovely big roll neck. Thinking of wearing it to my mums 70th birthday lunch. Nice to see this thread again.

Thought I would re-invigorate this thread. Sales shopping today in Newcastle. Bought quite a few bargains in Reiss (half price!). A black knitted fitted dress (funeral on Friday), but certainly very versatile for work in the future. http://www.reiss.com/womens/dresses/aleena/black/

On Saturday it is my mum's 70th birthday lunch and my wardrobe is a mess here as most of my decent stuff is in California. So....

I bought a pair of rose pink, almost lavender trousers. http://www.reiss.com/womens/trousers/mora/powder-pink/
Gobsmacked that the size 10 (US 8) actually fitted, but opted for the next size up so they looked a bit slouchy. I shall wear them with a pair of flat light grey suede shoes I bought in the LK Bennett sale in Kings Cross a few weeks ago but can't find them online to show you. I also found a vest in the same rose colour and a white voile (see through), embroidered top which I can wear over the top of the vest. http://www.reiss.com/womens/tops/cubist/ivory/
I have a light grey and dark grey furry 'cape' with a big cowl neck but with sleeves to complete the outfit which I bought in Neiman Marcus before I came home for the holidays. http://shopjbeck.com/collections/fall-2 ... x-fur-grey
Gosh it sounds horrible in writing, but it does not look too bad.

That sounds like a fab outfit! And bargains too :victory:
I'm going to my niece's wedding this Saturday and was lucky in the pre-Christmas sales...
Here's the dress...

And I already have a cream top like this...

With black shoes and a coat that was half price (even cheaper now, grr) and looks more shapely than in the picture...

I just hope that the snow and ice has all melted by then!!

Wow such bargains! @golarne. Pity you missed the last knock down on that coat! There seems to be some decent stuff about this year rather than the usual stuff. Loving that dress.
