I don't know what a 24 hr LOF is tho? @breadandwine please can you explain? X

Hi @CandiceMarie (great name!)

LOF stands for liquid only fast - so, I finish eating by six on a Sunday, say, then have nothing but water and black coffee until 6 the following evening. Sometimes I follow it up with a very low cal meal - less than 130 cals for a huge veg curry - sometimes, like tonight, I just have a normal evening meal.

Once a month or so I'll extend this and not eat for 36 hours or more. It's all about stressing the body's cells, to they become stronger. (Hormesis.)

Every now and again - especially if I'm writing recipes late in the evening on a fast day, my mind won't settle down and I wake in the middle of the night. I also, on occasion, start to feel cold on a longer fast, so I always have some thick walking socks close to hand. :)

@Hi @lizbean i know what you mean! When you can't sleep, its nice to have cpmpany ( ive had lots little chats with @debs on my sleepless nights and i miss her now i' m sleeping better) BUT really i guess chatting isnt conducive to eventually getting to sleep is it!
Certainly passes the long dark hours tho knowing others are awake too..But site is often so quiet now and most of the tents usually empty these days, sometimes there's hardly anyone to chat to,day or night! Its changed on here a lot from this time last year..maybe coz so many peep have now reached their goal, so dont need to spend as much time here? X

Hiiiii @breadandwine thanks for speedy reply!
I love this site, always something new to learn..thanks for the LOF explanation!
Homesis..i looked that up,didnt know it,was interested that the stress on cells helps with anti aging!
I need all the help i can get with that!
Slightly to my dismay and consternation, peep have started regularly offering me their seat on the bus!
So I reckon i must look about 80! X

Hi Candy. @candicemarie. Just watching MM on catch up. Hmmmm, not sure about some of that!

All is well although OH can't come out tomorrow because of work commitments. He is due a check up end of the month. I'm back beginning of November for a week, and then come back here until mid December. Time will move quickly! Archie is on good form. Every time we skype each other he joins the meeting!

I'm on a fat fast right now and it's helping. I'm also taking himalayan sea salt and it's helping the adrenal fatigue stuff -thought you might find that interesting. Not got on the scales yet, but I have very purple ketone strips!!!

Sorry you can't sleep. But I'm here

Glad you can come home Nov..not that faraway now! And you' ll be home for Xmas?
Ages since ive had sleepless night..just listening to neighbours noisy shower pump....i'd forgotten they up and showered by 4 ish every morning! :0)
Himalayan sea salt good for adrenal fatigue? I must look into that..ive only ever seen adrenal support supplements i cant afford! X good news on the strips! :like:

Ps@rawkaren...oh and also just heard poor DD shouting in her sleep..she has awful nightmares.
I do too but minus the shouting! X

@candicemarie. Yes salt is cheaper than supplements! half a tspn every morning when I wake up and then top ups during the day if I get tired. Very good on fasting days especially.

I live in a condo as you know here and last week the neighbours upstairs were having a dreadful argument at 3am in the morning. It was very upsetting. My other noisy neighbour who watches the telly at 3am seems to be away at the moment. Anyway I get by with earplugs and an eye mask (lights outside and I'm not used to that).

Sorry about your DD. That must be horrible. I can never remember what I dream about.

Yes I'm home for Christmas. I can't wait!!!

Oh gosh @rawkaren two noisy neighbours:0(
The one with the loud tv should use earphones or headies..or put subtitles on..i always do,often even in the daytime while listening to the radio,in case i disturb my neighbour below ..the couple rowing are a disgrace not having consideration for others at 3 a.m.
Just read up on H sea salt..i want to try it but a bit concerned if its ok to do so with high BP ..plus some kidney damage from the high BP  one thing i read said not to take if you have those two things,.other articles say take it..not sure whats best to do really
Licorice is good for adrenal fatigue too but can't take it as it too raises bp...hmmm..
Really want to try the Him salt tho..one question tho..doesn't it make you want to throwup,as drinking ordinary salty water would? X

@candicemarie. It's a mild taste - not like that burning stuff from the chemical version. I don't know how much salt you take in other stuff so obviously can't have a view. I guess you could just try a tiny amount and then check your BP and test the impact. Can't be worse that bouillon which is too salty for me!
