Re: The WAGS tent!

This will be longish ;)
we have three furry babies; Two Rhodesian Ridgeback girls - Fiona aged 12 and Arwen aged 8 and our love child - Diego, a 2yr old Jack Russel.

During my entire childhood me and my sis wished for a puppy every birthday and Christmas, to no avail. We never got any pet of any kind. But we got even LOL, I got Fiona when I got burned out the first time and I'm pretty sure she is the reason I'm still alive. Fiona is the queen, she gives love when she think it's necessary, obeys when she want to and when she decide to lay close to you, you know that you somehow deserve it;)
After 4 yrs we decided to get her a "sibling" - hence Arwen. The most nutty of all RR...Fionas total opposite. Fiona has gien us the scare a couple of times, mainly some liver disfunction and then udder tumors. The last time we was pretty sure she wasn't going to make it, so we started to look for a smaller dog to keep Arwen company. So we found Diego. And Fiona pulled through and is still going strong. Arwen and Diego is best friends, Fiona couldn't care less most of the time but occasionally she allow Diego to sniff her out or give her a kiss.

Needless to say, I love them all but Fiona is my special girl, no doubt about it. Some days I say "never more a dog" cause I want to be free to travel and do stuff...but then I look into Fionas gorgeous soulful eyes ore get kissed allover by Diego and I'm lost.

Did anyone watch that programme last night about dog food? It's got me slightly concerned because Poppy has Crohns and has been put on Eukanuba Dermatosis FP/Rsponse. Minnie was put on Royal canin for obesity and also biscuits called Satiety. On the programme there was a woman who created "natural recipes" for dogs (Lily's Kitchen) without all the bits which don't mean a thing to any of us. I think Poppy's food should be ok because it was a specialist who recommended it and whilst Minnie's was recommended by the nurse, should she be on "diet food" for long do you think?

Some people feed their dogs raw food. Does anyone else do this?

We have a geriatric Westie called Jack, he is 14 1/2 years old. Selectively deaf and has got cataracts so he bumps into things sometimes, namely the back of my legs when I'm in the kitchen.
I was going for a good walk on my own a couple of weekends ago, Jack can no longer manage a decent walk but OH decided to wind him up by saying 'wheres your lead, are you going etc. I didn't want to take him out because I knew he would be struggling. So off we went I took a short cut instead of going my planned longer route, and sure enough Jack had enough after 20 mins. Anyone who knows Westies will know that they are stubborn little creatures, and if they stop for any reason they don't move until they are ready. Well Jack stopped and just stood looking at me. Needless to say I finished my walk with a westie threw over one shoulder, got some funny looks from people, I felt like shouting he's not pampered just knackered. Bless him.

Went for a lovely walk with the dawg this morning, over the fields and far away, when she comes limping back looking very sorry for herself, blood oozing out. She has cut her front paw, actually it's quite a deep cut and half the pad is hanging off! I have washed it smothered Unction on it and bandaged it up and covered it with on of Mins old socks. This, she is not happy about and is doing an amusing John Cleese kind of walk. But I know I need some kind of anti bac wash really.
HELP what's the best thing to get or is it a trip to the vets?? What do you guys use?? Suggestions please x

Don't know but I would go to the vets quickly, just to make sure she don't need stichis if anything.
Oh my, will never forget when Arqwen started to sneeze all day long and The DH sais "oh it's just one of these things", but when we got to the vets, after a long examination ion they found a small piece of a brach stuck´k up her nose, with the buds stuck in the wrong way...Guess if The Dh had to "swallow" this many times over ;)

Yeah I was going to call the vet, but husband felt his first aid at work certificate was all that was needed. I am not convinced. ..........I can feel a vet bill coming on!

Here are my sweeties, Pippa (in front) and Hobbes (in back). They are wiped out from all the bird watching they do. I have a bird feeder hanging at kitty eye level on my porch, and the cats will sit at the glass door, watching all day long. Fortunately for the birds, the kitties are strictly indoors-only cats.

I saw the programme last night. Ours get dry complete on vet's advice.
Yes, I'd get the wound checked out, too; better safe than sorry.

@Minsmum
Our vet prescribed HIBIScrub . I've since discovered it is much cheaper over the counter at the chemist. I don't think they can stitch pads, our vet worries about infection

Never go one until we bought Fiona 12yrs ago = happy Wolfie:) And happy family - getting my kids to grow up around dogs have been a blessing me thinks.
Burned out? Well I worked myself to an early grave (almost) - was way in over my head, incredible stressful job, bad management and put in 10-14 hrs a day (plus cared for two small kids) just to prove I could do it. Stupid!! Never do that. Along with managing to do it all over again (not the 14hr though) and I not entirely me for the rest of my life :(
