@Debs thanks, yep we'd better get back to the footy in hand otherwise we might get the red card  - I'm fasting Thursday so saving my cals for the game!

Hi all, finally back on the forum after technical restraints.  a dead computer being the main one!
Very pleased to find this great tent! I am having a ball watching the games. We have got Foxtel so that I can record every match and am enjoying the play, some has been outstanding. Cheering for Australia of course and England (my original home) although not confident that either team will get out of their groups. Just love to watch good football/soccer. The Spain Nederlands game was mighty, Robben reminded me of Zinedine Zidane! And now Portugal have been stunned too.....
Hi Debs, didn't know you were a fan too.
Exciting days ahead.....

See it this way: if they win you will always remember it as 'the day they kicked Suarez and friends out of the Cup while you were on a fast' (something to tell your grandchildren in the future). If they lose, you will at least be so lucky to have one more successful fast under your belt.

Hi there @Judio, how lovely to see you back here!! And likewise, didn't realise you were such a big fan too! :football: :football: :football:

Here at Chez Pilbara, I have been doing well with my surreptitious viewing at work! I am watching the second game at 3.30am and then sneakily watching the later game on live streaming on SBS, although I got sprung by the boss this morning. I told him I was doing an environmental inspection on the quality of the grass there!

The Americans played well this morning, the German game was excellent apart from the playacting which got a Portuguese player sent off, but they are well known for it. I shan't be able to get up for the Aussie game, too early in the night, although knowing me I shall wake up anyway!
Football without beer@WooDan? Try it at 3am!!! I can live without beer at that time of the day! Unless I am still drinking from the night before of course

The only 'dark horse' left is ready for kick-off: Belgiums going for their first ever serious World cup bid (so they think)

Preparing for the game between the Dutch and the Aussies (do or die for them). Aussies have never been beaten by the Dutch in de World cup, so should be an interesting game. Game is during dinner time in the Netherlands, so the amount of additional food will luckily not be too high

@P-JK it's a good thing the Aussie forumites are all asleep right now, eh? You might be under attack from @Debs and @judio otherwise!

Well, I could have coped with that, in the end the result counts.
The scoring was exciting, the quality of the football certainly not :frown:
First halve was even terrible (from the Dutch perspective). Aussies deserved more.
Waiting for the draw between Chile and Spain, which would make me bet a large sum of money on a draw between the Dutch and Chile to send the holders of the cup home...

Dammit i can't believe I missed that Cahill goal. I was going to try to get up after a little nap…

All I want for Xmas is a World Cup in the same time zone as me! Friday it's England at 4am and Japan at 7am.

I watched the Netherlands-Australia day from 1.30am local time. Only a cup of peppermint tea as my fasting day had started.

As I've got dual citizenship of both countries I was always going to win but I think backing Holland makes more sense as we might make it to the final again, although better playing is required!

Not yet midday and have been tempted several times to give up on fasting today as I'm sooooo tired.
