Re: adding filter for calorie restriction or not on eating days - this feels like a step too far!! I find after a fast day that any tendency toward mindless snacking becomes obvious and preventable after a day of abstinence! So I do eat less than I was before, but it's not 'calorie restriction,' it's just being more aware and only eating when properly, truly hungry. It's four days since the last fast right now, and I'm still feeling wonderfully re-educated.

To me, this is an important aspect of the whole thing. NOT to be focussed on counting calories all the time, but to be eating naturally five days a week.
I agree with you. But there's a fair proportion of people suggesting that they either do or to others that they should. What I'm getting as is eventually there should be enough people that it *might* be possible to actually answer the question of is it necessary to calorie restrict with a reasonable amount of data to validate the answer.

I just think it's too hard to quantify as one person's cal restrict is another's big day. I also think it's too much to ask of Moogie, but I wanted to raise it as this is becoming a place for newbies to rely on.

I was a research scientist in another life...wanting to ask the question and see some data never leaves you! Particularly if people are relying on what others suggest. :-)
I do see what you mean, and I love data too! This progress tracker thing is brilliant - I really appreciate all the work. I'm pretty sure Dr M's stated intention is that it's not something to treat as a diet beyond the two days so if some peeps are counting all week, well, they're essentially on a "diet" then instead of this WOL (look at me, using the fancy abbrev.for the first time)

oh my smileys didnt' work...

Your wish is my command :)
Moogie, love the ability to filter the forum stats by total time on diet! If it's easy to add, could we also have options for "more than 1 month", "more than 3 months", "more than 6 months"? Thanks!
Will have a look for you when time allows Dom :)
Hi Moogie
First, I would like to say a heartfelt "Thanks' for this forum, I'm finding it so helpful, I look at it every day. My question is, I have put in all my stats, and am using the progress tracker, but the information is not showing next to my posts. I have done the gender thing, but it is not showing. Should I delete and redo it? Or perhaps I'm just missing something?
I would like my stats to show, because I like to see other member's, and it feels wrong not to share mine!
I was hoping to add an avatar, but I cannot find a single photograph of me taken within the last 4 years, I clearly avoid cameras.

Thanks
Pat
Hi Pat :) Glad you like the forums so much :)
Regarding the progress tracker, it looks like all you need to do now is go into your tracker settings and set your stats view preference, at the moment it is set to private from what I can see in the database. Once you change that setting it should add your stats to your posts for you.

Eg, if you're 1.65m tall you should be around 65kg in weight. I've found this quite true for myself at least, and that tends to be the sort of weight I can realistically maintain if I don't go on a wild eating bender ;) Just got to get back down to it now!

Wow that gives me a realistic weight goal and puts me towards the top end of a healthy BMI
Wow, that is exactly how tall I am and exactly what I have set as my target weight! Cool! 8-)
Moogie, just a quick question: when you filter the forum-wide results by your own characteristics, does it include or exclude your own data from the result?

Love it!!

Hello Moogie
My scales show ounces so last week although only a very small loss of 4oz I couldn't record any weight loss. I know that is a bit pathetic but at least I am going down. But recording 1/2 lb losses would be encouraging.
Thanks
Isis
