Re: justdee's progress

Had 2 good fast this week both under 500cal. This week I didn't feel hungry at all on my fastdays and before one of my evening meals I was feeling so not hungry I actually had to stop and think if I'd eaten anything during the day (I hadn't). Strange thing on non-fastday too, one day it got to about 2pm (I'd had a light breakfast mid-morning) and I thought, 'I can't wait for my dinner tonight I'm really hungry', I'd forgotten it wasn't a fastday. Realizing you can have some lunch is great. On one of my non-fasdays I had too much bread (for breakfast and again for lunch) and didn't I know about it. Tummy ache for the rest of the day, I won't be doing that again. I couldn't wait to fast the next day and give my tum a rest. Anyway as for weight loss this week, well, there wasn't any :( I stayed the same as last week even though I know I did two good fast. I hate it when that happens. I did cycle a few times this week (an hour at a time) and did some gardening on Thursday (ripping bushes out of garden), so got my fingers crossed the no weight loss is because I've gained muscle. I'm also not drinking enough water, some days not drinking any and just having coffee. It's warming up here now so I know I need to drink more water. I'm also not checking TDEE on non-fastdays so maybe I'm going way over (doesn't feel like it though). Time will tell. Off to drink a large glass of water now as just realized I haven't had one today yet.

Start weight: 186 lbs
After week 5: 180 lbs (Stayed the same this week)
-6lbs in 5 weeks

Posted this in the fasting today thread, posting it here too for my own reference.

Hi all, I'm here today for my Monday fast. Feeling very sorry for myself today. Thought I get my summer clothes out today (shorts and T's weather here), only to try my shorts on and NONE of them fit :( I can get them on but they're way too tight and they look it too. I'm about a stone (14lbs) heavier than this time last year. I don't want to or have the money to buy new shorts so I really need to lose a stone, now. I know that will take me ages on 5:2, I'll be lucky to lose a stone by the end of summer if I keep doing what I'm doing now. I think I need to go on a diet (hangs head in shame) and really up my activity. I could still fast. Just cut out ALL the crap. No goodies on non-fasdays. Or I could try ADF. I have been thinking about ADF for the last few weeks because I'm finding my fast days so do-able. And it was the plan krista varady did the study on in the first place. Aarrrgggghh!!!!!! I don't know what to do. For now, It's a fast day and I'm fasting, wearing 3/4 length trousers and feeling down in the dumps :( I'm going to ride my bike down to the beach this afternoon and have a really long walk along the beach, try to clear my head. Also chicken salad for dinner this evening. Happy fasting everyone. Any advice very welcome.

Hi, @justdee, how well you've done since your re-start! I know that it can be particularly disappointing when you've been 'good' and the pesky scales don't change but you are doing brilliantly. Re-reading your posts should remind you of your successes and encourage you over the sticky patches, so good luck and keep on, keeping on!

Thank you @Stowgateresident. I am in it for the long haul this time  :
Today has been a bit hairy at times. It's not been too bad really but was the hardest fast since being back. With any luck the scale will be kind this week.

It was a 4:3 for me this week. I am finding fasting easy, although yesterday was a little more difficult. Yesterday I started taking down a palm tree trunk in the garden. It's really hard work. It's going to take me some time to get rid of it, bit by bit. I've decided I'll work on the palm trunk on fast days. A) to use up some time and B) to burn some energy. Each fastday as I see the palm trunk getting smaller I too will be getting smaller. I think it's a great way to motivate myself and to get rid of the trunk at the same time :)
Today is Saturday, a non-fastday, it's lunch time (12:30) and I've only had coffee so far. I just don't know what to have to break my fast. I never really feel hungry these days, if it's a fastday or not. Does anyone else not feel hungry??? I don't know if it means I burning fat or not or if it's all in my head.
The shorts are fitting a little better, I almost kept them on today. :) The scale also said I've lost almost a lb and a half this week. :) :) :)

Start weight: 186 lbs
After week 6: 178.6 lbs (almost a lb and a half lost this week)
-7.4lbs in 6 weeks

Your palm tree project sounds like an excellent plan and well done for the weight loss this week, @justdee, - just be prepared for it to stall - however 'good' you've been. It happens to us all and you just have to be mentally prepared for it. I too have days when I'm not hungry by lunchtime - in which case just eat when you're ready. I am no longer tied to the 'must have three meals a day' concept, and it is a huge relief!

Thanks @StowgateResident and I know , I am dreading the stall. I thought it was here last week. I know that's when my head will try every trick in the book to get me off fasting. I'm trying to prepare myself for it, but can you ever really be prepared? I've been there before and I know how hard it is. I'm surprised it's not happened already or that I haven't broken a fast yet. My own head is my biggest enemy. Thank you for the word of warning :)

Just a quick update. Did 4:3 this week. I went a bit over on Wednesdays fast, I worked out it was by less than 200cals so not too bad at all really. Weigh in today and lost 1.6lbs

Start weight: 186 lbs
After week 7: 177.0 lbs (just over a lb and a half lost this week)
-9lbs in 7 weeks

Oh whoop whoop @justdee - that's 3 packets of butter or lard - great stuff!

So pleased to hear it's been a rewarding week. I say "rewarding" because it always feels like we deserve the losses for what we abstain from, doesn't it? I know just what you mean about battling your own head too - the psychology of food is a fascinating subject....but not one I've graduated from, ha ha!

Hope your weekend is going well. I've been surrounded by food as I was catering for a hundred people last night at a 50th birthday party. The scales had blimmin' well be kind tomorrow....or I'll sulk!

Thanks @Hazelnut20 Wow 3 packs of butter :) . Then that's almost 17 pack of butter I've lost in 7 weeks. Good way of looking at it, thanks for that.
Well done you for getting through yesterday, I'm sure the scale will be kind, you deserve it for the efforts you're putting in. How many packs of butter are you down in the last few weeks? Probs more that you need to cater for 100 people hehe :) Good luck at weigh in tomorrow hun :)

I fasted on Monday and Wednesday this week, I fasted on Friday too but that turned into an eating window from 4pm. Had less than 1000cals on Friday so not too bad really. Weight loss this week was only half a lb but that's because I weighed on Saturday (not after a full fast). Tomorrow (Sunday) I'm starting the blood sugar diet. I'm not really sure at this point if I'll do the full 8 weeks. I'll do 2 weeks on the BSD and see how I feel after that. 800cals a day should be do-able because I'm used to doing 500cal fast. Not sure how long I'll be able to stick to low carb though, I really do love bread and pasta and also have a mad sweet tooth, we will see. I'm not diabetic but would really like to get the weight off faster as it's already summer, my shorts are all still too tight and I'm sick of being the fat one. I have nothing to lose, but weight..

Start weight: 186 lbs
After week 8: 176.4 lbs (just over half a lb lost this week)
-9.6lbs in 8 weeks on 5:2/4:3
BSD start weight: 176.4 lbs

So, I've done one week of the blood sugar diet and I'm finding it rather easy. Day 2 was my worst day, only as bad as a slightly tricky fastday though. In fact I've had many fastdays that were much more difficult. I'm at the end of day 8 on the BSD and I've had no craving (at all) for carbs or sweet things, or anything. I just don't want them. Very strange.
It's so much easier than I imagined. I'm not going to go in to loads of detail about the BSD on here, I'll write about it with Hazelnut20 in her thread,,,, Hazelnut's 8 week Blood Sugar Diet musings... Would be grateful if someone could put a link to the thread for me, I'm rubbish at all that and it's much to late to figure it out now.

Anyway, this week I've lost 5.5lbs since day 1 of the BSD (3.5lbs since my last post-fast weigh in )
I've made my May Challenge target, one week early and 1lb over target, so far. It's the first forum challenge I've hit target or even finished. Very pleased about that. Wonder what the next challenge will be.
I'm also only a lb away from my first stone (14lbs) lost since returning 9 weeks ago.
Roll on week 2 of the BSD (ohh!! I've already done a day, well that was fast. hehe)
I'm in such a good head space, long may it last.

5:2/4:3
Start weight: 186 lbs
After week 8: 176.4 lbs
-9.6lbs in 8 weeks on 5:2/4:3

BSD start weight: 178.6 lbs (weight after non-fastday)
After week 1 : 173 lbs (just over 5.5lbs lost this week)

Total weight loss in 9 weeks : 13lbs

It's been a strange sort of week. Week 2 of the BSD is done. For the first half of the week the scale didn't move at all. I had a day or so -ish that weren't strictly on plan this week. I didn't go mad and it was nothing like a normal non-fastday, so all is still good.
I'm very tired this week, really need to get more sleep.
The scale this morning said I'd lost 3.5 lbs. I can see it a bit and today I had my shorts on for the first time. It's great to know the weight is coming off.

5:2/4:3
Start weight: 186 lbs
After week 8: 176.4 lbs
-9.6lbs in 8 weeks on 5:2/4:3

BSD start weight: 178.6 lbs (weight after non-fastday)
After week 2 : 169.6 lbs (just under 3.5 lbs lost this week)

Total weight loss in 10 weeks : 16.4 lbs (1 stone 2.4 lbs) Whooo Hooo more than a stone in 10 weeks,, not done that in yeeeaaaars.

I just looked at my tracker. I had to laugh. It says I'll get to goal in 1022 weeks (January 2036). Ye, whatever tracker, watch this space.
Would still love to get my tracker reset from my restart date (13th of April), please, if at all possible @Moogie
