I'm still here! Thank you for keeping this thread going, it makes me feel really connected to this community. I'm the same, but have started canoe trips. It is interesting doing 5-2 while camping. I have to be a little flexible if I'm portaging long distance on a fast day.. I need the energy so I don't count the calories I'm eating to make it on a long work out while on vacation. Keep at it everyone! This WOL will work for us!

I'm still here too, although having a bit of trouble keeping up with posting on all the threads I'd like to!

I'm still hovering around the same weight, although this was a good week. Down 3 lbs! Of course, it was a bit of weekend fluff, but at least the scale is going down. I kept away from any sweets this week, so that was a major victory. My activity level has been increasing too as I'm getting more golf in (walking the course), started run/walking again and of course, I do 3 days of boot camp as usual.

I've been trying to keep better control on my calories this week and it shows on the scale. I just do a rough calculation on non-fast days, just to keep a handle on things. I also allow myself up to 1,000 on fast days if I have done boot camp or some other high calorie burn activity. I was not having any luck losing sticking to 500 cals on fast days, so thought I would try upping them a bit. If this week is any example, it is working.

Hope everyone is well!

checking in! Today is a great fast day.. best in a while. I'm not hungry at all right now. I wish they were all like this. I wonder how I will feel in the evening.

Hello!!
I'm currently having trouble keeping a fast day below 800-1000 calories. I do fine all day, but the wheels fall off in the evening. I'm toying with the idea of doing a 5 hour or so eating window and see how that goes. I've been loosely counting calories on non-fasting days, but that is getting WAY tedious. I just hate it. One of these days I'll strike on the perfect plan. Sigh........

Still maintaining in Michigan. Almost 2.5 years now doing 5:2. Still following original plan, 2 days at 600 cals with occasional skips for vacations and etc. Original plan was to drop to 1 day a week but that never happened. My weight continues to hold steady at about 170 so i'm good with that. Still have sleep issues but have learned to deal with that ... Thanks for keeping the US thread going.... Looking forward to the 4th of July celebrations, except for the firecrackers ...

I'm still here canoeing season has hit and we are busy with all of that. I have been thinking on how to control my eating on non 5-2 days and have tried a lot. I just was laying in the hammock thinking about maybe a modified 16/8 on my non 5-2 days. But break it up? so I can only eat from 9:30-12:30 (3 hours) then again fom 4:30-8:30 (4 hours). These are my weakest times and the other times I am strong. The hours are 7 hours so it would be 17//7. I'm going to try this and see what happens.

Good Morning!

Still trudging along here. Not making any real progress, but not gaining either. I'm doing the eating window approach now and really like it. I lost a pound last week, but am afraid it's probably back after a weekend of eating and drinking whenever and whatever I wanted. Sigh.........

Canoegal...I think your approach should work fine. Anything that helps restrict your eating will lower your calories and keep things in check.

Well I tried it yesterday and it ended up being 9:30-12:30 then 4-9 which is a 16/8 but split up. But these hours I can manage. We have a vacation to the mountains this week so I'm not sure how it will go on Wednesday. I'm going to do a fast day today and then I fly out on my next 5-2 day. I'm thinking of aiming for a 1000 calorie day that day. We will see, maybe I will be so busy I won't have time to eat on Wednesday :)

Just posting here to say Hi to all my fellow U.S. 5:2ers! And to bump this thread onto the home forum page.... Today is my light day #121! I just started keeping track in a little journal from the start; something about writing the date and the number of the light day is a commitment to myself and seems to help me stay on track. I used to write down all my food and drink, but don't now. I do keep my weight and measurements there too.

I'm still here! I was on vacation in the Rocky mountains. I did my plan of eating only 9:30-12:30 and then 4:00-8:00 and I didn't gain any weight! I'm fasting today.. first time in a week and it is going well today. I

I'm still here. Was back in the US for all of June and forgot to post - sorry. In the UK until the 14th and then back for quite a long stint. Looking forward to getting back into a routine so I can concentrate on fasting and getting my weight moving back down again.

Hi Everyone!

Yes, still here, but I seem to have gotten involved in too many threads & sites and I lose track! :dazed:

I've been doing an eating window approach to fasting for the past 3 weeks or so. I like it and I did lose a bit the first 2 weeks and we'll see what this week brings. Loss or no, I really like the eating window method.

Lots of boot camp, some run/walks & playing golf have kept me busy so far this summer. Gotta keep moving, right?

Hope you're all having a great summer!

Hi, everyone... I'm still here but just haven't posted in a while. Glad this thread is still on the go. I've completed my first year of fasting 5:2 (mid June) and feel like it is a lifesaver. Mid April my husband joined me and now we both fast twice per week. Wow... having someone do the fasting with you really makes it easier.
I need to get back to this site more often and catch up on all the current Fast Diet information. I live in Mo. and do not know anyone else who fasts. Actually, people think we are crazy to do this. Sometimes I call this way of eating "light eating" instead of fasting so people don't freak out! Lol
My body is smaller (I try to ignore the loose skin... ugh) and I have a lot more self-control over food now that I fast. Today I bought a bicycle and am so amazed I can still ride after 20 years. I am hoping this exercise will give me the boost I need to lose the rest of my extra fluff.
Thanks for keeping the US thread going & I hope summer is treating ya' all well.
