@jools7 enjoy your weekend in Sydney, I'm down there too on the weekend for a wedding, let's hope for ok weather.
I've done one HIIT workout this week (15 minutes of Boutcher protocol on the elliptical) so far, and getting back in the swing of things after being away for ski and work trips.
Another one not doing well here :(
Been away working and doing very long days. Managed the first spell reasonably well until a 20 hour day and really couldn't face it.
Second spell away and working damn hard physically so, although not HIIT (although pushing stuff might have counted) still much more active than of recent.
Struggling to fast too...
a more peaceful week to come so will try and get back into the groove. Then another spell away...working life is conspiring against me :(
I've been rather lazy, too! Only two HIT sessions last week and one so far this week. I had a scary experience during my Monday HIT! I was rowing, as per usual, and then during my second HIT period my heart rate shot up from 131, which is about as high as it usually gets, to 201! It was also very irregular - more like palpitations - so I stopped for a minute and then it settled back down and I finished the session as usual. It's put me off a little but I shall do another session later today and, hopefully, it will be straightforward!

Good luck to all! And if you're struggling, like me. then just think that any exercise has got to be better than no exercise!
That's how I'm looking at it, Stowgate! just get some exercise. Hope your palpitations don't happen again.
Hoping to be back on Madmax tomorrow first thing.
There, I said it out loud, so it's real. :)
Thanks, @janeg. I did a session earlier this evening and my heart rate was fine, although I was more out of breath than usual. I have been managing without my inhaler recently but felt that I could have done with it this evening! I'm sure that Madmax will welcome your attention once you get home!
Ooh, @Stowgateresident, that doesn't sound good! To me it sounds like you might have had an episode of atrial fibrillation, have you ever had anything like that before? Glad it settled down quickly by itself, but I would still be getting it checked out before doing any more HIT!

@maryann, what happened at altitude? Sounds very full-on! Of course it will build up your fitness faster, but you need to be fit enough to do it in the first place!

Good luck, HITers!
Nothing too drastic. I was just breathless a lot sooner than usual. On top of high altitude, I was jet lagged so I decided not to push it.
This travelling and working and health stuff is really interfering with our best intentions! ;)
Broken the duck/back in the groove/hottin'up etc etc
Madmax and janeg are at one again- and I managed what I had been doing before the break.
who'se the trainer that says 'just feckin' do it' (sic) ?
well, just feckin' did it!
:) :D
Well done, @janeg, I'm so pleased that you have made Madmax happy! I didn't feel like rowing yesterday but as you say, '

so I did it, too! :victory:

Thank you, @jools7, for your comment re my heart rate. My Thursday session was fine, as they had all been previously, but I may not have been pushing it quite so hard as usual (which actually isn't very hard at all anyway!). I have had a couple of episodes before but they were while I was fighting an allergic reaction to some prescribed antibiotics, so the doctor put it down to that on those occasions. I'll wait and see if it happens again before I contact the doc.

Meanwhile, it's a lovely day here and perfect for the gardening but I have to go to the dentist! What a waste of a day! :frown:
Phew! I managed 12 minutes, level 2 of interval training on the cross trainer. I had to ease off a bit part way through as my instructor has warned me that a heart rate of 175 isn't good at my age and weight. But I did it and am feeling very proud. I'm keeping up with it as I need my blood pressure as good as possible for my operation. Its a shame I will have to stop it all for at least 6 weeks, I will just have to start again afterwards. I may sneak onto the stationary bike from week 2 or 3, I will just have to see how it goes.

For the stats, my blood pressure when in hospital for my pre-op, so very tired (only 2 hours sleep the night before) and very anxious, my BP was 142/80 . To me that seemed very weird, I can under stand the 80 being up from my standard 70, but the 142 being so low as my usual is 110,. What do you make of it, white coat syndrome maybe?
Well done on your HIT! Sorry I'm of no use on your BP question.
Sorry I haven't checked in, I've been traveling a lot & working later than usual for the last month. Not a lot of HIT, but LOTS of walking - hoping to get back on track next week over our school spring break.
Failing miserably on this challenge! I have only managed two sessions a week for the last three weeks! No reason either, just my usual idleness coming to the fore! :frown:

I will have no access to fitness equipment after Tuesday for a week and a half because I will be visiting family in Germany. I'll be in touch after that, although I am planning (not hoping, you understand) to do another session on Tuesday but there's a lot to do before we leave!

That doesn't mean that the rest of you have to take a break too, though. Just keep at it - you know it makes sense!
Oops! I have just calculated my Target Heart Rate, allowing for my age, resting heat rate and previous level of exercise. I used this site http://www.wikihow.com/Calculate-Your-Target-Heart-Rate and, after some very complicated maths, it seems that my Target heart Rate is 135, which is what I have been seeing(most of the time) on the rowing machine screen during my HIT sessions. I suppose that means that when it went up to 178 in my session earlier this evening, that was not a good thing!

I have an appointment with my doctor when I come back from Germany, just an annual medication review, but I think that I will mention these two episodes of increased heart rate and see what she thinks. Perhaps she'll tell me to stop! :like:

In the meantime, keep going everyone!
