I take my car key off the key chain and tie it into my laces when I don't have a pocket

Ingenius @rebelsue2! I'll look at arm-bands too. Thank you!

No probs! these are the same issues we all face. You can actually even buy a key holder that laces onto your shoes, but you don't really need it :)

Arm band is a must though, much handier. Also, you can get sore arms from gripping your phone as you run... sounds daft but I've certainly had it before. Not to mention the longer you run the more annoying it gets holding a sweaty phone :)

Did my 5K colour run this morning, calves I didn't cause me any trouble thank goodness.
PPP.olll.lo..ol l.pppoiutrwqweogtrtt thought I would leave that bit in my 3year old granddaughter decided to help me. If anybody else gets a chance to do one of these it is great fun. And the colour washes out of grey hair. :like:

Great news that you were able to do your run without it affecting your calves @Nessie, though I did wonder if it had affected your typing until I read on...

Well done Nessie.
I have an arm band put my keys and iPhone in.
Cheap as chips from Argos or Amazon.

And here I was about to paste that Scotish phrase into Google for the translation... :-)

Congrats on the fun run! (Happily, the color won't wash from either memory.)

When I go running I have a bum bag I use. I an tell when i am losing weight as well as it needs adjusting!. That saying I have only been a couple of times since the kids have been off school. It's hard to fit it in.

I am finding the same @Brand-ie I started running last October (I think) and after avoiding heavy rain, ice and wind I thought the summer would be far easier. We have had loads of visitors and have been away quite a lot (I am still not confident enough to go running through strange streets) the result is I am not running regularly enough, pushing it to far and injuring myself. Ayer managing my run yesterday I am planning to run 30 or 40 min three times a week hope it works out as I love it when I get going. :like:

BUMP! Cough, cough, wheeze! It's quiet and really dark in here.

OK, I'll (gently) [pick on | tease] @wendyjane's comment, but we could use a status check from everyone to clear the dust out of this thread! So grab a broom or use your shoes to scatter a few of these darned crickets and dust bunnies.

Anyone else either breaking in or wearing out new running/walking/repurposed bowling shoes? Any land speed records to report? Sonic booms? Heavy breathing or loud whooshing noises as you passed someone in an actual event? Any singed or still-smoking tennis balls from surviving your first ever white-knuckle 5K? 4K? 2K? ... ... A brief walk to the car?

NO??? OK, how about rationalizations or injuries or credible excuses or outright lies then?

I'll start:

My dog chewed the strings off my running shoes....and the cat peed on my race singlet. The smell I can live with, the safety pins are now rusty, but that stain is seriously clashing with my outfit. [T|F] ?

Can you hear me, ADFnFuel? No? I'm not surprised, with my head so firmly planted in the sand. First I got a cold, then I felt committed to hang around the house every morning babysitting my [grown] family. Then I got scared that I wouldn't still be able to run for 25 minutes straight, so I didn't even go try. This whole story is, sadly, all true. I will check back in after I go for my first run in {{whispers}} 2 1/2 weeks. Tomorrow? Hope so.

@ADFnFuel I thought my running outfit was pretty awful, rocking a just-about-to-do-messy-DIY vibe, but at least it's not covered in cat pee!
I do have proper shoes, and have decided to buy a proper outfit on completion of C25K. Round here a 'proper' outfit for females is black leggings and a pink top, but I'm going to go for an alternative colour for the top. Running is bringing out my inner-rebel!
But first I have to complete the C25K... I'm on week 5, and delighted that I can now do 5 minutes. The jump to 8 minutes is next, which I'm OK about. The big jump to 20 minutes seems a yawning chasm, but having read about it, it seems to be as a much a mental as physical challenge, and surely the NHS wouldn't have left it in if it was going to kill me...?!

I did week 6 run 1 today ( thought I would start on week six as it breaks it up with run and walking) Managed it fine.
@Annurca yes it does seem a big jump but you will surprise yourself I know I did. Before the kids broke up I was running for 25 minutes non stop. It felt brilliant. I will soon be back there though.

I'm just back from Week 5 Run 2, and a wierd thing happened. In trying to switch my MP3 player on without looking, I managed to delete the entire C25K file from it. It requires a combination of buttons, and selecting yes in the 'do you want to confirm?'. Definitely couldn't do that again! So I've just done a run without Laura to encourage me, which was probably a good thing to have happened, as have wondered how I would shed my dependence on her! However, I'll download her again now...

I had forgotten about this thread. Wonderful to read about all you lovely people doing c25k. I graduated last year but I'm still trying to get a sub 30 5k. I absolutely love my Saturday morning parkrun and have made lots of new friends there. I'm also on the FB c25k page; there was a bit of hoohaa on there the other day with people talking about 5:2. Everyone is entitled to their opinions but sometimes you do get some very very opinionated people - glad to say it seems to have settled on the side of 5:2 :) Good luck everyone, stick with it and enjoy yourselves. x

I'm still lurking here, on week 8 now. No excuses, it's just not so easy when the schools are off and there are other demands.... I just completely decorated a bedroom for my daughter, and have nice speckled lilac hair to prove it ! I have decided to complete the "course" on the treadmill and then try and find a flat field or quiet road and have a go outside. I will then have a go at Parkrun. I did contact my nearest one and they said that there are 2 loops so I could easily just do one if I couldn't make it all the way, which they say quite a few do. So soon hopefully I'll give it a go. There, it's in writing now so I'll have to, won't I ? Oh heck.
