I am on a conference call right now and started pacing and counted 100 steps myself. Nothing registered on my fitbit! :-(

Fitbititis or fitbit movement disorder or...any other ideas? it affects predominantly women and the major symptoms are restlessness, abnormal desire to climb stairs and frequent close looks into their bra. A less common symptom is a look of horror on their face from time to time( when they can't find it)...

I have a severe case of fitbititis too :) mine is clipped to my waist and I must look very funny tring to surreptitiously lift it up to have a sneak peek at my stats. I dance when I do the dishes now and very rarely sit down to do anything.

We have 16 members in our group now! Hello to all the newcomers :D

Helloo!!

I just got my fitbit yesterday, can I join your gang???

I've been 5:2 ing since mid January and lost 2 stone, I quit smoking last Monday and want to use the extra energy to up my fitness levels and get off of this plateau. Also, I reckoned that I could afford to buy a fitbit or join a gym with the cash I'm saving from no ciggies!!

I'll probably be at the bottom of the leaderboard, but somebody has to be!! I'm not too concerned about being competitive (probably how I got so fat!!) but it would be nice to have folks to campare with... not compete with??

I've got a foot problem at the moment and I'm having difficulty getting to 7500 let alone 10000 steps! I hate it! I agree with developing fitbititis- I have been known to go to bed, check my Fitty and then run down and up the stairs a couple of times to get my stairs count up!

Hope you're feet are getting better angcat :)

I have a question for you fellow fitbit users. I want to figure out what activity level to enter on this website's TDEE calculator and on others'.

If I reach my daily goal and do 15,000 steps and 60 of my minutes are very active according to fitbit, what activity level is that?

I know it's not sedentary, but it's not anything at the moment other than walking. Sometimes for about an hour non stop other times it is less than that and the minutes accumulate.

Is it moderate or very active? On the calculators it mentions how many times a week. I do this on a daily basis but it is not intensive to me.

Anyway, enough waffling. I look forward to hearing your points of view.

I think it is somewhere between moderate and very active.

Whatever matches the calorie burn clocked by the Fitbit ?

Thanks philt. My calorie burn on the fitbit is somewhere between 1800 - 2000, usually nearer the 2000 mark. When I look at the tdee calculators that puts me on the highest intensity exercise level.

I don't feel that I am compared to people who run or go to the gym everyday for example, but then again on the calculators, if I put that I do moderate exercise the estimated calories burn is much lower than that of the fitbit

Personnally, I selected moderate as I can only walk. When possible I try to get some steps in before work in the mornings and those usually register as very active minutes. Since my weight loss is slow but steady I assume moderate is about right.

If I put moderate on the tracker here, it gives me a TDEE of 1762. So I suppose that is a slightly conservative estimate compared to what the fitbit says is my actual calorie burn which I guess is better than being too generous :)
